It feels so good to finally know that I'm not the only one who sees every opportunity to conform, with all signs pointing that that's what I should be doing at my age, yet something so deep inside knows its not.
This whole blog is like a big encouraging book I can't put down.
Life changing stuff.

peace and love.

Y'all are definetely right on this one. In Hebrews, it says to run the race setting our eyes on Jesus, casting aside every hindrance, surrounded by witnesses. Other things, be they good, bad, or a fad, aren't the goal. Our goal is to know Jesus Himself, in all His eternal glory.

Wow..im surprised more people havent commented on this so far....but I sure will! This is a great article!

Alex or Brett (sorry... i dont know for sure which of you wrote this) : this is an amazing section... (great work to you too, Mr. Ryle!) :c)

so many churches (and even the school we went to last year before we decided to homeschool this year) i know focus so much on only reading the Bible as a way to improve our character... but they neglect to remind us that better character will come more naturally with a better relationship with Christ

It is true that when we are in the presence of people that think or act or speak in a certain way(especially with friends) for longer periods of time, we tend to pick up unknowingly (or knowingly) part of them (meaning we tend to absorb things from our environments and fellow people)... if we spend a lot of time communicating with Jesus, we will pick up things from Him (better character, a better way of thinking, etcerera)

I think that is why that "bad company corrupts good character" (1Cor. 15:33) thing is so true... being around negative influences (people and movies and books and stuff) excessively will cause us to pick up less than desirable qualities and spoil the better ones that we have

~Elisabeth J. Gruber

p.s. hope your next "kidnapping" of Mr. Lundgaard resulted in another great article!

Great post! I strongly agree that we need to be more earnest in seeking a relationship with Christ. Only in His strength can we be overcomers. I also liked the part where you compared the amount of time we spend with Christ to the amount of time we spend with our friends. He needs to be more important than anything else. Thanks for reminding me to seek Christ with all my heart!
