I totally agree with what Ella Elaine said - it's not about the system you use, it's just important that you pray. I started making Echo for myself, because it was the best system for me. ...and then I realized that it could help other people out too so I went further and created the whole site. It's been slow getting the word out (and honestly I haven't been nearly diligent enough about it), so it's really encouraging that people are starting to talk about it online. I like the journal aspect of the site. Currently, I have been writing down my prayer requests on an index card and using it as a bookmark in my Bible. That way when I have my devotions every day, I see it and it reminds me to pray for those people not only then, but throughout the day. Interesting idea. I like the journal aspect of the site. I've personally found that it's easier to keep my pray requests on my Palm Pilot's to do list. Then I can easily take them with me when I travel. Looks interesting. She gives us each several of them, and we pray aloud through our cards. So, I started writing my prayer requests down on these cards. I write the person's name in larger letters in the center or top. Then, I write any specific prayer requests below, with the date. When the card for a particular person/family/group gets full, I start a new card. This has helped me be more faithful in prayer. It has also helped me be more thankful to God as I see His hand at work in my life and the lives of others. If you have a lot (since I write down specific friends/families, I generally do have a lot.), you can rotate through the stack over the course of several days. I usually have some that I pray for every day. You can make these as specific or general as you like. The most important thing is that you pray, not the system you use to do it. It is easy for me to forget the power and privilege of praying to the God of the Universe. Praying is one of the greatest things we can do to further the kingdom of God. This idea probably wouldn't work for everyone (and I hope it makes sense!), but it has helped me tremendously in being faithful to pray. Be creative! In my small group, we pass out index cards and each write our names and prayer requests on them. Then we exchange them. My small group leader says that she puts the person's card that she gets on her bathroom mirror and prays as she brushes her teeth. She has done this for years, and she says that now, brushing her teeth "switches her into prayer mode". :-) Just another idea. God bless you all! Might try it, it really does help! Also, on my bulletin board. When I read my Bible in the mornings, I have 3x5 cards in the Book that help me remember. Thanks for the idea! The reality is that if you have trouble being faithful in prayer Echo Pray Manager won't change your habits.
