Headed South: Leaving for San Antonio

san_antonio.jpg

Tomorrow morning Brett and I will be flying down to San Antonio to live-blog the Christian Filmmakers Academy and Film Festival. The filmmaker’s academy starts on Monday morning and goes to Wednesday evening, with the opening ceremonies for the film festival kicking off on Thursday night.

We’re excited about this upcoming week, because the notes and quotes, interviews, and reviews we’ll be sharing here on the blog have applicability far beyond filmmaking. As rebelutionaries, as culture changers, we can all benefit from the “how” and “why” of what our brothers and sisters in Christ are doing with film.

An Exciting Opportunity
On Tuesday, the second day of the filmmaker’s academy, Brett and I will be interviewed by Mark Kelley of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as part of a documentary on Christian youth for their flagship newscast, the National.

From the description in their email:

Mark is going on Christian youth road trip, with the objective of immersing himself in experiences that shed light on the way in which Christian youths are affirming their values. We realize that Christianity is often put on the defensive by the mainstream media, so we want to speak with young people who can share with millions of Canadians articulate and passionate perspectives about Christian values and their place in the world.

Faced with this opportunity, we feel very inadequate. Please pray for us, that God would give us the words to speak and that through our words and actions His gospel might be proclaimed. How much or little we will be included in the final documentary we don’t know, but our prayer is that God would use it, not just to change viewer’s perceptions of young people and of Christianity, but to transform lives.

Thank you, friends! Next time you hear from us, Lord willing, we shall be in Texas.
