Brett and I were recently alerted of an opportunity for one of our bilingual readers to earn $500 translating essays from English to French for the World Youth Alliance.

Although the World Youth Alliance is not a Christian organization, it appears to be accomplishing much good work around the world — training young people to work at both regional and international levels to impact policy and culture.

Those of you who would qualify for the task and are interested, we encourage you to talk to your parents about it. It looks like a great opportunity to assist a cause and earn some money. Below is an email from a friend and fellow rebelutionary:

Alex and Brett,

There is an exciting opportunity available especially to home-school students and stay-at-home mothers through the World Youth Alliance.

The World Youth Alliance is an international coalition of over one million young people under the age of thirty, with headquarters on five continents. It was founded in 1999 by a 21 year old young woman who wanted to train young people to advocate for a culture of life at the international level.

One of our fastest growing regions is Africa, where we gained thousands of new members this past summer. Our new members are hard at work advancing a culture of life in Congo, Rwanda, Kenya, Mozambique, and South Africa by upholding the family, standing for sexual morality, insisting on AIDS treatments that emphasize education and prevention, and befriending young orphans through mentoring programs.

One of the most critical aspects of our African members’ international participation is their training in the core principles of a culture of life; however, the cost of acquiring training materials in Africa is extremely high for an already impoverished people. The Alliance hopes to provide our African young people with training manuals in accessible languages within the next few months to accommodate our growing numbers.

In particular, we are seeking someone with an excellent fluency in French to 1) locate French translations of the ten most available essays on our reading list, to be photocopied and compiled, and 2) translate the five less available essays and speeches from English into French. WYA staff will be available to the successful applicant to provide support and answer questions.

The applicant/applicants who qualify for this project will be awarded $300.00 at the outset of the project as a stipend to compensate costs associated with the task; the remaining $200.00 will be awarded as a thank you gift at the succesful completion of the project.
