UPDATE: Urgent Prayer for Heidi

UPDATE: Heidi was home as of yesterday evening. The hospital refused to give her an IV for insurance reasons. They planned to visit the doctor today. Pray that he was (or will be) able to give her an IV.

Directly before the New Attitude conference, we posted an urgent prayer request for Heidi M. of A Blessed Servant — a dear sister in Christ and former Honor Roll Member on the Forum. Early this week she sent out an email update, posted below. Please join us in continued intercession for her.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I don’t quite know how else to write this, so I’ll say it outright: I’m to be admitted to the hospital sometime tonight.

Many of you may have read the post on the Rebelution blog requesting prayer concerning my escapade to the ER in an ambulance. Thank you so much for all who prayed, and for the Alex [Poythress] and the Harris twins for posting that. From what we have gathered, it was the result of eating food I was allergic to (didn’t have a choice, as I’m allergic to all of them) combined with the aftereffects of a flu bug I had been fighting for three days prior to the emergency.

The reason for being admitted is quite simple. I have either a) become severely allergic to all known foods, including the synthetic one, or b) there is something wrong with my digestive system we have yet to discover. I must get my nutrients somehow, and if I did not have such severe reactions to the car, I would be able to simply go to my doctor’s office three times a week. Today’s doctor visit confirmed we had no choice but the hospital, and since I am losing weight quite quickly, there’s no time to be lost.

Please, please pray. The ER visit last Friday uncovered allergies to adhesives, gels, and the like. Pray that the nurses will be understanding. My immune system is very shaky right now — pray for the Lord’s hand of protection over me. Pray also for my family…

PRAISE: Our insurance will cover it!!!

I’d write more, but I’ve very weak and have more things to do before we leave.

Thank you all so much,

Heidi

    Heidi,

My prayers are with you today as I read this - remember please, that no matter what is going on in your life or what you may encounter, God is with you and will never leave you!

For some reason, God has decided to place this burden on you - or at least to allow it. Be encouraged to know that you are special in that way … that God knows you strong enough to handle something as serious as this. He will be the comfort that you need!

Remember also that there is a very special plan that God has for you … this may be the most important part of it. Remain faithful always, and in your most fearful moments, look to the only One that will be there for you completely!

I’m praying for you … God bless.

    Charity

  44. Jenny Says:

    Heidi–
I’ll pray for you. I can’t imagine what it must be like for you right now. At the risk of bringing up unwanted advice, I wonder, have you tried 100% organic whole foods? There are many people these days having acute reactions to the toxic chemicals we encounter everyday in our surroundings, so perhaps you’re having a reaction to Genetically modified foods (they’re everywhere now), pesticides, herbicides or fungicides extensively used in the foods you see in the supermarkets. If you want to try it, look for organic foods at local farmer’s Markets, Whole Foods Market, Wild Oats, Trader Joe’s and other natural foods suppliers. I’m not saying I know this is your problem, but it’s worth taking into consideration. The Lord is Able.

    Jenny Abrenica

  45. Christina B. Says:

Praying for you, Heidi. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. *hugs*

Jenny, Heidi eats only 100% organic foods as she is allergic to anything that is not organic, also.
It is true what you said, all those GM foods and poisons and everything is enough to make anybody sick.

  46. Thulasi Says:

Heid, we’re praying for you dear Sister in Christ :)

  47. Jessinah Says:

I’m continuing to lift you up in the Lord! *HUGS* :D
