How exciting! My younger brother and two of my friends and I have all signed up to each order a copy. I’m really praying about tomorrow.
March 24th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
God bless!!!!
March 24th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
I’m definately buying mine tomorrow…but I can’t see how I’ll be able to wait to get it! Anyway, it’s very exciting, and God bless!!
March 24th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
I am so excited about this! How neat to get to be a part. I ordered three books, thus the fun of free shipping! I will be praying the Lord will use this for His honor and glory, and that non Christian teens buy it! It will be hard waiting until April 15th!
March 24th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Yay! I can’t wait to see what happens.
Eric
March 24th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Can’t wait!!
God Bless
March 24th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Jean Marie: Did you pledge to order three, or did you already order them? The plan is for everyone to order them together on March 25th (Tuesday). If you already ordered them, however, that’s okay. If you want to be part of the book bomb you can always cancel and reorder, too.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:26 am
Thanks to the mini-book bomb we held yesterday (with some of the bulk pledgers) we’re starting today already 1st in Youth Ministry, 2nd in Parenting Teenagers, 15th in Christian Living and 592nd overall. Praise the Lord for a strong start!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:40 am
Hmmm… It seems to actually update around the 35th minute of every hour (i.e. 12:35, etc.) but it’s not always consistent.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:56 am
Between 11:30 and 12:50 we dropped from 592 to 627… No biggie, but not quite the right direction. =)
March 25th, 2008 at 2:15 am
I feel like I’m talking to myself …… could use a twin about now.
Anyone know a poem we could use for the book bomb?
I’ve got the tune in my head, but no words.
It’s now 2:16am and I’ll be up all night if anyone wants to write in…. anyone???????
March 25th, 2008 at 2:52 am
Poor Brett, you’re so lonely, hehe
It is already late afternoon of the 25th here in Manila. Is the shipping for 3 books still free for people outside of North America? Just asking.
What poem are we speaking of? I dabble with poetry, but I don’t know if we’re thinking of the same thing. My hymn-based training might also not produce the desirable witty kind of rhyme for a “book bomb poem.”
Hope this comment keeps you awake a bit more
March 25th, 2008 at 3:36 am
There’s still hope of it progressing in the right direction.
I’m not really good in creating poems. I’ll just sing, as long as there is a tune.
March 25th, 2008 at 4:28 am
So my brother and I ordered our copy a day or two before you started the book bomb. Can we cancel that order and than reorder???? I really want to be a part of today!
March 25th, 2008 at 4:28 am
Don’t worry Brett….right now, we’re at #452.
March 25th, 2008 at 4:35 am
Um, I thought that if we ordered through the Book Bomb, that we would get it before April 15. Nothing big, just wondering if this it true, because I’m about to order and it says that it’ll be delivered on April 18th (their estimate). Do you know?
March 25th, 2008 at 5:10 am
so….when is it going to update again?????
March 25th, 2008 at 5:15 am
Did you already order the books or is it still 6 hrs?
Wow, Brett! Were you really up all night or did you go to sleep right after 2:15am(your last comment)?
March 25th, 2008 at 5:23 am
Stayed up until midnight (last night/this morning) to buy the first copy! Had more fun than at the Harry Potter party (oops! can I say that here?)
March 25th, 2008 at 5:24 am
hehe….so my mom just ordered 3 books…to give away. And that wasn’t planned!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:26 am
Erika: Yes, you can cancel and reorder.
Joanna: That’s what we’ve been told by an Amazon representative. So we’ll have to see. If it doesn’t ship early now, it probably never would have.
March 25th, 2008 at 5:29 am
Sophie: We’ve currently had 5 hours of the 24 hour book bomb (midnight PST to midnight PST). So we’ll keep on buying and tracking all day.
March 25th, 2008 at 5:29 am
Alex: Perhaps it just says that but they’ll get it in early. Okay, well thank you anyway! I’ve already ordered (30 minutes ago), so no worries.
March 25th, 2008 at 5:38 am
We’re going to book bomb
It’ll be top of Amazon
We’ll spread the word
The message will be heard
From the rebelution dot com.
Strive to do the best that can be done
Lazy teens may not be gone
But from near and far, far and wide
The ripples will grow, we’ll turn the tide
We’ll feel a rebelution coming on
Brett will be up all night long
Creating some silly book bomb song
Sitting by his faithful Mac
Waiting for the hourly Amazon facts
He’ll likely see the rosy rays of dawn
So buy a book and come along
We’re going on a book bomb
And it’ll be top of Amazon…dot com.
Not sure if that fits with the tune you’ve got, but it’s worth a shot. Take it or leave it.
March 25th, 2008 at 5:42 am
^ Hahaha that’s a great poem.
I’m so excited for the book bomb today…I’m trying to get all my friends to buy the book, lol.
But just wondering, what about the audio book version of Do Hard Things, does that count in the book bomb as well?
March 25th, 2008 at 5:47 am
Mei-Lyn: That’s great!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:16 am
Wow, everyone’s up early today!

I’m so excited, I just bought my 2 books.. I can’t wait till they get here!!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:27 am
I just ordered my books today. but I don’t think they’ll get here fast enough. I sure hope we can get this up to the top ten, anybody notice that it’s already #1 in youth ministry?
March 25th, 2008 at 6:43 am
Well, I’ve got to order textbooks today *grimace* and I think I’ll pop in an order or two for the book…yay!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:55 am
Yay… I just ordered my copies… can’t wait to get them!
Hope everything goes well with the book bomb.
God bless, Mel
March 25th, 2008 at 7:01 am
Wow… we’re #7 under Christian Living (a huge category) right between Blue Like Jazz and The Purpose Driven Life.
March 25th, 2008 at 7:09 am
Wow! Congratulations. Can’t wait for my book.
March 25th, 2008 at 7:09 am
Wow, that is a huge category! Keep up the praying, everybody, that everyone who pledged to buy books, will do so.
March 25th, 2008 at 7:14 am
Good going! Hopefull this ranking will inspire many more people to buy the books and hear the message.
I had a questions though… Once Do Hard Things gets to the top (or close to it) how long will/does it actually stay there? What I am asking, is will this book bomb have much lasting effect in Do hard Things ranking, or will it just go back down again as more people buy other books?
Keep up the good work in all your ministries: books, blogs and conferences. May God bless you and keep you and use you!
In Christ Alone,
Angela
March 25th, 2008 at 7:33 am
Mei Lyn: excellent job
I was laughing, in a good way.
March 25th, 2008 at 7:42 am
Just bought two books! Can’t wait till they get here.
And now I have to decide which library to donate the second book to! I am in the middle of a circle of about five library’s, though I regularily only go to two. But which of the two? I suppose the one in the bigger and buiser town so more people will see it, right?
Great poem Mei Lyn! If I come up with one, can I put it up here too?
March 25th, 2008 at 8:24 am
“Do Hard Things” is now third in the “Christian Living” category, right between “90 Minutes in Heaven” and “23 Minutes in Hell.”
Persevero!
March 25th, 2008 at 8:41 am
i ordered mine :))))))
March 25th, 2008 at 8:50 am
Wow, very excited! We ordered 4 copies. I second Jasmine, does the audio book count as well? I don’t think so, but if I was to order it, would it help to do it today?
Thanks!
March 25th, 2008 at 8:52 am
I guess if I order it in Canada it’s not really going to help your statistics…??
March 25th, 2008 at 8:54 am
Wow I like that poem! Good job Mei-Lyn. Today is very exciting! I’m praying that it will succeed and God will use it for his glory.
March 25th, 2008 at 8:55 am
It wouold make my day if “Do Hard Things” passed up “Become A Better You” (Joel Osteen)!
:)
March 25th, 2008 at 8:56 am
I just ordered my copy!
March 25th, 2008 at 8:58 am
Hey I saw one of your post on the Amazon blog. Nifty! I’m gonna be ordering a book today.
March 25th, 2008 at 9:01 am
I ordered 3! One for myself and 2 to give away!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:04 am
I just ordered my 3 books! 1 for myself, 2 that I know will be great gifts for friends!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:08 am
Where do you find out what place we are in amazon.com? Like, for example, where would I go to see that we are/were in 3rd place in “Christian Living”?
March 25th, 2008 at 9:09 am
Hi, Alex,
Yes, my mistake. Last night I pledged to buy three books. I just ordered them, as of 12:05 pm(EST), if you want details. I definitely wanted to be a part of pushing Do Hard Things up to the top on Amazon! This is so fun, I feel like we are all cousins sitting here talking to each other about the exciting event! How cool.
March 25th, 2008 at 9:15 am
It’s rank is going up.
This is pretty exciting! How I wish I didn’t have to go to class tomorrow so I could stay up all night and watch the statistics!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:34 am
I just ordered mine! I can’t wait to read it!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:36 am
Joanna: You can visit our actual Amazon page HERE. Scroll down past the description and endorsements to PRODUCT DETAILS.
WE’RE AT 74!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:36 am
YES! We are at #74! Woohoo! I am SO excited! AND it is at #1 in Christian Living, Youth Ministry and Teenagers! Wow! Sorry, Brett and Alex, for the “we”, I just feel like, as a Rebelutionary, it’s so special to be part of this… I hope we keep going up!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:37 am
74!!! YAY!!!!!!!!
I just bought mine. I can’t wait to get it! I’ll keep on praying for this.
March 25th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Brett: Thanks a million! And wow, from 427 to 74!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Jean Marie: It is DEFINITELY “we’ . . . Alex and I could never (ever) have done this on our own.
March 25th, 2008 at 9:45 am
wow….74!!!!!!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:54 am
Thanks, Brett, for that. It makes all of us Rebelutionaries feel so special. Actually, that sounded like a CJ Mahaney statement.
I met CJ for the first time several weeks ago at the Ligonier Conference, and I told him I was a Rebelutionary, and he said-”That is wonderful! I love those Harris boys.”. I’m sure you already knew that, but you can never hear anything too much from CJ.
March 25th, 2008 at 9:59 am
well this is exciting. I just ordered 4 copies and will use 2 as graduation gifts and one will go in our church library. I hope that the word gets out and a lot of people read the book. I have really been blessed by the knowledge that there are serious christians my age out there and that I am not doing this alone. Thanks!
March 25th, 2008 at 10:06 am
#1 in Ministry & Church Leadership
#2 in Parenting (Right under Rich Dad, Poor Dad)
#5 in Christianity
#6 in Parenting & Families
#10 in Religion & Spirituality
An hour ago (about 11:30 EDT), in between the -427 and the current -74, we were at 154.
This is exciting!
March 25th, 2008 at 10:22 am
Ryan: Thanks for the numbers… The graph should be fixed now too. =)
March 25th, 2008 at 10:34 am
Alex and Brett:
This morning at breakfast I encouraged my siblings to buy as many books as they could. Throughout the morning they have been calling me to request the number that they want to buy, and just a few minutes ago my four year old brother called and said this: “Will you please order me a book? I will pretend that I am reading it.”
We are praying without ceasing! This feels like an election day or something.
Well, here I go to order it!
March 25th, 2008 at 10:36 am
Just saw it at #37 on the best sellers list. PTL
March 25th, 2008 at 10:39 am
What? #37? Mine still says #74! Where do you see that, Sam?
March 25th, 2008 at 10:40 am
Wow! This is so awesome!
March 25th, 2008 at 10:40 am
I submitted my order!
March 25th, 2008 at 10:41 am
I don\’t know if they randomize the order, but if you click on bestsellers/books it was at #37
March 25th, 2008 at 10:42 am
I guess you can find out sooner by watching the bestsellers list, because it’s updated to #37 now
March 25th, 2008 at 10:42 am
It seems like there is sometimes a delay between updating certain sections of Amazon. I’d go with the actual bestseller’s list over our Amazon page. 37…. wow!
March 25th, 2008 at 10:43 am
#1 in Christian Living
#1 in Parenting > Teenagers
#1 in Youth Ministry
March 25th, 2008 at 10:46 am
It’s updated on our Amazon page now too…. =D
March 25th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Aaaaaahhhhh! I am SO excited! Praise God! Yes, I understand the whole updating thing, now, but I was kind of freaking out over not being able to see that. I am updating my sister, too, in fact, it is going to be hard not to be on here all day. I think I will keep it bookmarked, and come back every hour.
That is so wonderful! #37! Oh, my. I could not be more excited, were it my own book, Alex and Brett. I love how on Youth Ministry you beat Josh on Boy Meets Girl! How hilarious…you’d better call him, and rub it in, unless he’s watching this too. All in good fun, of course, God is so amazing to bless Do Hard Things like this!
March 25th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Wow! Sweetness! Is there a record for a book that has shot up the chart the most in one day?
Imagine if we could get Do Hard Things into Guinness World Records! Wild thought, but remember with God the sky was only the beginning!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:03 am
I just bought three copies! God bless you guys!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:06 am
WooooHoooo! Number 37!! Way to go guys!! I am a mom of two teen sons and one 20 year-old daughter and I just placed my order and e-mailed all my friends! May God bless everyone’s efforts today and make it a memorable one!! (Number 1!!) Looking very forward to getting the books! Blessings as you continue to seek the Lord in how to minister!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:09 am
I believe we are buying several copies for our church book table.

Can’t wait!!!
We’ve got 24 hours
To send this book to the top
Preparing to send forth a message
As we watch the “bomb” drop
It’s not just the numbers that count
On Amazon
But the hearts that hear the truth
Before they’re too far gone
It’s a beautiful thing to see
Youth working together to make a rise
Do your part to make this work -
And watch as the ammunition flies!
Drop the book-bomb
on Amazon.com
Hahaha - I amuse myself.

Well…that was my random, on-the-spot poem for the day.
~Lady Tai
March 25th, 2008 at 11:18 am
wow!! Maybe we’ll make it to #1!!!!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:19 am
Great poems guys! Amazing lyrics on all of them!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:23 am
It is 37 indeed! It is 2:18 in the morning here in Manila, so I have no choice but to go to bed now. I will be checking back the moment I wake up tomorrow. Yes, it does feel like a gathering of cousins. This feels awesome.
I will be praying. God is amazing. It’s going to be another rebelution celebration day!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:25 am
This is so much fun! I watched the stats throughout the morning, but then had to leave the house for a while. I just got back and– wow!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:29 am
Ditto to Ali T! This is SO exciting - we just might break into the Top 10! I was astounded that we bounced from 400 something to 37 in about two hours! Hooray!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:29 am
That was great, Tai!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:32 am
I don’t know if folks have seen this, but I’ve just discovered that if you go into the bestsellers section on Amazon, there is a section on the top left called “More to Explore”, which has a number of categories you can click on. Here are the ratings for Do Hard Things in two of those categoreis:
“Hot New Releases” category: Do Hard Things ranks number 14 in books
“Movers and Shakers” category: Do Hard Things ranks number 4 in books!
What a great category to be high-ranking in! This category is for the biggest gainers in book sales over the past 24 hours. Saxon Math Algebra 1/2 is #2 in Movers and Shakers - we gotta beat that!!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Alex and Brett:
This is so exciting! I’m campaigning to my friends about the bookbomb, encouraging them to buy books. We are praying without ceasing.
March 25th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Sarah: That’s great, Sarah! Thanks for finding and sharing.
We can’t really beat Saxon Math in the “movers and shakers” category — because they started at 200,000, while we were already in the top 5,000. Someone must have placed an order for several hundred for a school or something.
March 25th, 2008 at 11:39 am
Thanks, Alex.
I was actually wondering that, Sarah - but I didn’t do any looking up yet.
That is very neat!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:45 am
Ooooh, #37!!!! It’s coming!!!!!!!!!! Yay! We ordered 3 this morning!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Hmm…Did they not update yet for this hour…or did we come to a “plateau” hour?
March 25th, 2008 at 11:52 am
They’re just not updating… it’s kinda random sometimes… but our rank under “Hot New Releases” just jumped from 14 to 11, so something should happen soon. =D
March 25th, 2008 at 11:52 am
It’s at #25!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Unless I’m looking at it wrong, we’re at #25 in the Bestsellers????
http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/books/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_b_1_1
March 25th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Alex or Brett,
I don’t think either of you answered this earlier question from Jasmine and Annamarie:
Does a purchase of the audio book count in the book bomb?
March 25th, 2008 at 11:53 am
#25!!!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:53 am
I guess Alex posted while I was typing
March 25th, 2008 at 11:54 am
Um, are we stuck at #37? Well…that’s what my pc says, but, man! 427 to 37 - that’s outright astonishing, to be honest. Hey, Sarah Magee, thanks for the tip! That was really interesting to look at. What is really cool is that yesterday, my mom, sister and I were in the car listening to NPR news, 90.7, and this lady was interviewing an authoress who wrote “The Ten Year Nap”. It is number nine under Movers and Shakers, and Do Hard Things is number 3! Cool, huh? Hey, wait - then, it is above on Hot New Releases, oh, whatever. The cool thing really was that it was on the radio, and DHT is so close to it.
March 25th, 2008 at 11:55 am
Have you checked lately? Number #11?
March 25th, 2008 at 11:55 am
Brittany: I’m afraid the audio book doesn’t count towards the book bomb.
March 25th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Negate that…what I just said…it was all too confusing anyway, but we are #25! #25! WOW!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Book bomb, book bomb,
Gonna rock a certain dot com;
Keep it going, moving strong,
Do Hard Things on Amazon!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Still at 25!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
This is so exciting! Is there any way for us to know how many copies have been bought? i.e. how many more of our 13 hundred are left to be bought? Just wondering…
Keep up the good work Rebelutionaries!
Your Sister in Christ,
Jordan Diann
P.S. This could by my browser (internet explorer)’s fault, but in this blog post only, the side bar is at the bottom of the page below all the coomment and the side area is blank. I have no problem w/ it, but I thought you’d like to know.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
By the way, yay for 25!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
Lauren, I loved the poem!
Jordan, it should be fixed now. Someone posted a long link that skewed the page in IE.
We can’t really know how many have been ordered… But we definitely can use people continuing to spread the word and think of new people who might want to participate. This last hump will be the toughest to climb.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
Lauren B., that is very good!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
In Books> Religion & Spirituality We are 7th
March 25th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Just a little poem I threw together:
A world lost and dying,
The wicked run freely.
Few righteous are trying
To bring Christ to the needy.
A lukewarm Laodicean church
The body of Christ has become.
Our apathy should cause us to lurch.
Let the Rebelution come!
Alex and Brett have written a book
To spread the Rebelution.
A wonder on Amazon, come and look!
This is more than a revolution.
A book bomb has been dropped,
Amongst those on Amazon.
The wicked shall be stopped,
For the righteous through Christ shall fight on!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Nice poems Lauren and Taurnil!
P.S. Taurnil is a really neat name.
~Lady Tai
March 25th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
wow…I know I keep saying that, but what else is there to say?
This is amazing!!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
Thanks Lady Tai! “Taurnil” is an Elvish name.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Ahhhh! I knew I liked it for a reason.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
amazing!! I bought 3 copies this afternoon.
I’m so excited!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
#13!!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
This is absolutely thrilling! I’m praying that God will do a mighty work through the Book bomb, The book itself, and through all of us Rebelutionaries. I ordered 3 books today (1 for me, and one for each for my 2 friends). I’m tryign tp spread the word as much as possible, so it’s on my blogs. We’re #13!!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
I just noticed that, too, Tai! Exciting!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
We’re ahead of Obama’s book! Woohoo!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
We’re the top Christian book on Amazon!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Congrats everyone!! I don’t know what the time is that side, but here in South Africa it is almost midnight so March 25th is almost over. It is terribly exciting to be part of all this!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Wow. We are #13. How amazing is THAT?!!! Not only are we above Obama’s book, but, more importantly to me….we are above Joel Osteen’s book. Ha, ha, ha….How are you feeling, Brett and Alex? Pretty amazed? I am. “God - You are so beyond our understanding, thank You for this!”
March 25th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Wow! This is so amazing!I just bought 3 copies a little while ago and I can’t wait till they get here!!!
I’m praying God will do wonders through this book! Way to go Alex and Brett!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
It’s about 1:10 p.m. where I live, Cornelia, so from my perspective March 25th still has quite a few more daylight hours left in it!
We just might make it up to #1 Bestseller after all!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
Oh great! Thanks for the reply Rebekah! Those hours can make a bit of a difference!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
Haha #13! we’re above Paolini’s book!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
This is super encouraging to me because I knew that the book would very likely hit the top 100, btu I had no idea that it would make it so far up. God can do immeasureably more than all we cna ask or imagine!! He is so gracious, and I am glad to be apart of this. Like Rebekah, it’s early in the afternoon here and so we have many more hours to make it to #1. May God be glorified!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Amen Bethany.
March 25th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Praise God!! 3 more to go and we are on the home page!!!!
It is amazing to see a truly Christian book (not a prosperity gospel book) make it to the top of the Christian charts as well as the top of the overall charts. I am praying for us to make it to #1 and that non- Christians get saved from this book.
God bless,
Anthony
March 25th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
# 13 that is great. I really hope that God uses this to impact the youth of our culture. Congratulations!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
I have a bunch of younger bros and sisters, and I hear this alot. I hope this encourages eveyone:
“My God is so Big,
So strong and so mighty,
There’s nothing my God cannot Do!!”
P.S. Do Hard Things
March 25th, 2008 at 1:47 pm

okay, first, CONGRATULATIONS!! Great Job!
second, what do the negative signs on the graph mean? (or are they just really small “#” symbols?) I hope that question doesnt sound too stupid to ask…
March 25th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
I just ordered my copy…it is amazing what God is doing today!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:53 pm

March 25th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
I just screamed out loud… 13!!!! I am so excited!
March 25th, 2008 at 2:03 pm
I decided to try to write a poem, so here it is!
The book bomb is here,
The hour is near,
When the book will blow,
And all will know,
The power of God,
The word will be spread,
Much will be said,
Nothing can stop us,
So join the chorus,
Of people shouting,
Of people spreading,
The glorious news of the Gospel,
We need you to help us propel,
The Word of God
This is not just any cause,
So please, do not pause,
To help get the word out,
But remember who it’s all about,
This is for the glory of God.
I hope we make it to the top! Thanks for running this blog, Alex and Brett!
~Laura~
March 25th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Haha - I love the poem Laura!

Wow - screaming…and poems - this is great!

Wow, #12!!
I’ve been jittery with excitement all day. This is exactly what I needed to encourage me in a hard time of life. Isn’t God so good and gracious!?
March 25th, 2008 at 2:23 pm

“Never tell a young person that something can not be done. God may have been waiting for centuries for somebody ignorant enough of the impossible to do that thing.” Dr. J. A. Holmes
March 25th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
I am having the greatest time watching this!
So, so amazing.
Does anyone know - has this been done before in the history of Amazon?
March 25th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
Wow, #12…I’m sitting here trying to think of more people to tell about. This has been SUCH an amazing day. I hope lots more people order!
March 25th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
I posted it on my blog too, hopefully that will help some.
March 25th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Ordered my copy.
March 25th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
Taurnil: The very moment I saw your name I knew it was Elvish. Some kind of built-in Lord of the Rings radar, I guess.
I ordered my copy of the book….too exciting! I can’t wait to receive it.
March 25th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
I pledged to buy one copy, but I’ve just gone and bought an additional two copies.
Even if you have bought your pledged books, do consider buying another copy if you can afford to. There’ll always be a way to pass it on, even if it’s just leaving it on a park bench with a note saying “if you find this, keep it and read it”! (Well, it’s a thought, if all else fails!) But surely they can always be donated somewhere (second-hand shop, library, garage sale…), or you could have them as your stock of birthday presents for people for the rest of the year!
As it’s after 10PM here, I can’t see this through without having a really late night (which I’m not going to do), so I’ll wake up in the morning and it will all be done….
Keep on going! ;-D
March 25th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Late in Europe, have to go, can’t wait to see tomorrow morning!
Amazing. God bless all!
March 25th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
I just ordered three copies. And it’s up to #12! This is so amazing. I know that many people will be blessed by reading these books. I can’t wait to give them away.
I sent out bulletins and posted info about it in a blog. Hopefully that will get more people interested.
March 25th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Golly! What I miss not being on the computer
I put in my order this morning, but I haven’t been able to track the numbers until now! God truly is good and He is clearly working wonders. Kind of is like the little engine that could. No one thought it though. Same with the book bomb. Teen books aren’t supposed to be this high, are they?!:-) May God get the glory in all this!
March 25th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
I think it updated and we’re still 12th….
March 25th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Even if you bought a book already, if you add it to your wish list we might get to the top of the “Most Wished for List”
March 25th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
Hmmmm…true that, Sam!
And I was thinking that too Brett. Well, we’ve gotten SO far thus far! It’s hard knowing what’s going to happen, since there’s all these different time zones everywhere.
March 25th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Wow!!! This is soooo exciting & amazing!
Praise God for being so awesome & great, working through you guys…
Praying without ceasing,
Lanie
Isaiah 13:4-6
March 25th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Keep spreading the word, guys! We’ve kind of gotten stuck at #12 — 8 hours still to go!
March 25th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
AHHHHHHH! I’ve been SOOOOOO excited about this all day! I pledged to buy one book, but ended up buying two! I think I’ve emailed about 100 people, lol. NUMBER 12!!!! Yay!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Okay, just thought I’d throw in this idea… Not a whole song of course, but maybe a bridge:
Grab my hand
Together we’ll stand
Let it echo ‘cross the land
We’re going on a book bomb
Okay, now that that’s out of my system, I guess I have to go order a copy, don’t I?
Kiefer
March 25th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Okay, I just ordered it. Not that you really needed to know specifically, but I thought it would be nice to know that I followed through.
March 25th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
I think I’m gonna but another one…lol…this is so exciting!
March 25th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Well..it’s #11! Moving on up still!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Wow, how awesome it is to watch the number get lower and lower! I ordered ten — lots to give away!
March 25th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Praise God! One more to go until the Top 10. He certainly is an awesome and good God!
March 25th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Agh! It’s still showing at 12 for me.
March 25th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
11!!!! yeesssss!!!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Yay!!!!!!! Praise the Lord!
March 25th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Is there any way to tell how many books have been purchased already?
March 25th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
My mom just bought 3!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Hey, Brett or Alex,
Any ideas why your graph says #12, but Amazon says #11? Just checking… Thanks.
March 25th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Jean Marie: The graph is updated now!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
This is so amazing–#11! Praise God!!!! =D
And ditto Jenna.
March 25th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
Earlier today I was looking at the list and noticed “Breaking Dawn” by Stephenie Meyer at around #6 (I am not certain of its position). It is a children’s book that paints vampires and witchcraft as good and their power as stronger than that of Jesus.
At any rate I saw it there and I prayed that Do Hard Things would surpass it today. I’m not sure why this was heavy on my heart, but it was, and as much as it felt odd to be praying to pass that specific book, I prayed anyway.
Do Hard Things is now right above it at #11. It made me think of Romans 16:20: “And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly…”
God’s message for this generation is stronger than the enemy’s!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
Wow! This is so amazing!!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
There we go, Brett….thank you. I sent out a broadcast to some more friends, I hope we break into that Top 10, that would be wonderful.
March 25th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
Wow! Looks like the book bomb is exploding and so are the comments!
So has everyone else been watching the tracker all day like me? he, he
Just added 3 more to the pile. This is really exciting guys. I would have bought more but my bank acount won’t let me.
March 25th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Yep, we all have!!!!!!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Jenna: I was wondering the same. Does anyone know how many books have been purchased?
March 25th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
Alex previously wrote:
We can’t really know how many have been ordered… But we definitely can use people continuing to spread the word and think of new people who might want to participate. This last hump will be the toughest to climb.
Just to answer the questions about it.
March 25th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
Hannah B. - I don’t think we can. I am pretty sure someone asked that earlier…and I think Alex replied that we can’t know.
March 25th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
You’re right, Tai… But we should be able to have those numbers tomorrow, so we’ll let you know!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
#8!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
AHHHHH #8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
#8!!!! Hallelujah!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
#8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Wow guys - this is excellent
March 25th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
You’re on Amazon’s homepage!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Oops. - I keep posting while someone else is posting the same thing - and they are usually first.
haha
Oh well - the beauties of internet communication.
~Lady Tai
March 25th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
It’s at #8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
So I left somewhere this morning at around 9:00, when the book was at #74 and there were forty-something comments… I come home, and the book is at EIGHT and there are almost 200 comments!
You all are fantastic! I love how excited and involved everyone is– you keep making me smile!
Let’s keep it going!
March 25th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Hey Brothers! I’m really happy for you but not at all surprised by God’s blessing on you, your message — nor surprised by the response of our generation. I really believe God is going to use our generation to change the way the world perceives followers of Jesus. Lovers of the poor, defenders of orphans, widows and the oppressed. Thanks for your friendship and support of me and the work God has called me to.
I think they’re changing the release date on my book to later in April. Maybe we’ll be side-by-side at Barnes and Noble!
Standing with you.
Peace. Love. Justice!
Zach
March 25th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
Question: Do you know where DHT is tracking on the New York Times?
March 25th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
# 8!!!!!!! this is great God can work wonders
March 25th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
Wow! #8 Way to go, guys! We made it into the top 10! Congratulations, Brett and Alex! We need to do the same thing for Zach Hunter’s book, that would be SO cool! God is good…
March 25th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
AAAH #8 I’m so happpyyyy!
It’s come a long way since #427 when I first saw it this morning.
YAY!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Zach: Thanks, brother! You’re so right, too… This isn’t really about any of us, it’s about something God is doing in our generation. Hopefully things like the book bomb will help wake our world up.
On the NYT, what we’ve been told is that all pre-orders from Amazon (or anywhere) are applied to a book’s first week of sales for the NYT Bestseller List after release. So all of this will be applied to that — an even bigger platform for spreading a message of hope and God-glorifying action for teens!
Jean Marie: That’s an excellent idea. We’ll have to do that.
March 25th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Well to begin with……….I haven’t been keeping up with the Rebelution so i feel a little ashamed of myself for that :(. On the good side I AM SOOOO EXITED!!!! I would love to help out but the only thing I can really do is pray and tell people about it. FYI I stink at poems never less writing a song but give me a little while and I might just come up with something. Good job everyone!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
*screams* It broke the top ten!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
8!!!!! Wow!!!!!
This has God’s fingerprints all over it!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Wow - that’s amazingly neat Alex!!!
This goes toward the NYT view of the book too!
Still praying.
And when does this “day” end? (What time zone?)
~Lady Tai
March 25th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Sent a second push out through LC2LC. There’s still time to buy!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
this is totally amazing!!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
It would be so great to eclipse sales of “A New Earth” and present the Truth.
March 25th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
I can’t order right now, but I have been praying!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Another thought; I have never seen this many people work together like this. That is a testimony in and of itself!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Wow! Oh, wow! This is wonderful! I’m amazed at what God’s doing and still praying to see more.
March 25th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
This is so awesome! God *is* working mightily! As soon as I heard that we hit #8 I ran out to tell my mom and sister. They thought I was a little crazy, haha.
March 25th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
8! Praise God!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Lady Tai: It runs until midnight PST.
March 25th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Well, folks, I shall be heading to bed now. Whatever the outcome, may our Lord get the glory and honor and praise!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
P.S. Are we staying at 8th or what?
March 25th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
I ordered several copies of Do Hard Things about an hour ago. As I said my younger brother bought one and two of my friends each bought one. I ended up buying two so I can give one away and keep one. So we bought a total of 5!
It’s so exciting to keep checking back and seeing how it keeps working it’s way up on the graph! I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
March 25th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Joanna: Who knows? It hasn’t updated again yet. It should soon!
March 25th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
12 we have left behind,
11’s in the dust
8 we have laid a-hold
1’s within our thrust
March 25th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
Come on, West Coasters! Finish this thing at #1!
I wish I could afford to buy several more to give away.
One of my favorite things about this book bomb is that it hasn’t even released and it’s on the Bestseller’s list! Thank you, Lord!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
COME ON #1#1#1#1#1#1#1 I’m waiting.
March 25th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
This is truly amazing. Only God can do what this movement is accomplishing. We must never, ever forget that.
“To God be the glory, great things He hath done.”
March 25th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
Lynsay: Amen sister!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
This is so EXCITING!! God is soooo amazing!!! I can’t wait!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
March 25th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Very true, Thomas…very true indeed.
March 25th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
We stayed at 8 for this hour… =)
March 25th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
I couldn’t be part of the book bomb because my father explained that it would cost a royal fortune to ship to Australia…but it is so fun watching everyone work together like this.
And I liked reading the poems too!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
I am so proud of you guys! Well done! I am the mother of teenage twin boys and a preteen girl. I can’t wait until they read your book. We ordered twenty for our youth group and youth leaders.
March 25th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
Add three more to the pile! I just place my order. I’m really struggling with the expense (either it’s the devil or it’s just my tiny little pocket book screaming at me to be reasonable!), but hey! My money is God’s, and this is good, right?
Yes! Amen!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Way to go, Erica!!! Stand on the promises of God; what you sow is what you will reap! =)
March 25th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
In the top ten… way to go, guys!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!
—Psalm 100:4
Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!
—Psalm 105:1-2
Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
—Psalm 150:1-6
Amen!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
I talked a friend into buying a copy, so between the two of us, we bought a grand total of two. I wish I could buy ten, but I don’t have any income. (And I DO have outgo…) I’m so glad that it’s as high as it is, but I hope it keeps going! And I totally agree: “To GOD be the glory”!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
Hey guys, that’s awesome to see how God’s using you in a special way and blessing so much!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
Good night everyone! I haven’t been commenting, but I’ve been following along all day. It’s been amazing! Praise God!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait until morning to see the end results. I’ll still be praying! After all, even if we don’t make it to #1, that doesn’t mean God can’t use it!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
So.. I went to comment, and a bunch of people commented by the time I was done typing! Is this a first for the rebelution? I mean… how many people are online glued to amazon and the rebelution?
March 25th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
That’s so true, Erica!!!!! Love you, girl!!!!!!
Talk soon.
#8!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
This has been an incredible day! Good night, God Bless, and Persevero!
Luke 1:37 - “For nothing is impossible with God.”
March 25th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Good night, everyone! I’m praying that we’ll make it to the top!

March 25th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
Wow… looks like I’m coming in on the tail end of all the excitement.
(I did get my five books ordered today though!) Congratulations on the success of your book! This is all sooo very exciting. I can’t wait to read it!
Now we just have to wait for the books to actually arrive…. the NOT as exciting part.
Congrats once again! Those months of doing hard things since you set out to write your book are just beginning to pay off…. what will be even better is the people who are challenged and changed by reading it!
March 25th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
I just realised an odd coincidence. If you take a look at the youth Ministry section, Do Hard Things is at #1 with Joshua Harris’ book Boy Meets Girl at #3. Wow, you Harris’ are really selling a lot of books.Praise the Lord!
Let us pray that this book will not only sell lots, but more importantly, that everyone who takes the time to read the message will be changed and that they will then go out and inspire others.
“We stand on the brink of a rebelution” !
March 25th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
Instead of “updated every hour” it should say “updated ever so often - close to an hour, but not really - mostly when we get around to it”.

I’m just kidding.
But even if we stay at #8 - wow! Not only are we #1 in so many sub-categories, BUT Number 8 !!! Out of how many possibly millions of books out there - #8.
Wow.
God has been good.
~Lady Tai
March 25th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
I was at youth group and missed 12 and 8… now I feel left out.
Way to go guys, this is so exciting and amazing!
March 25th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
This is fantastic! I am really looking forward to giving these away as graduation gifts. I have to admit though, not much has gotten done today–I have been watching this most of the day!
March 25th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Oh, and I also found it interesting that most of the “top” books (well, the ones above “Do Hard Things”) are about a hunger and searching for: “spiritual enlightenment”, “your life’s purpose”, “peace”, and a changed life. And then there is “Do Hard Things”.

There is a world out there in need…searching for truth.
~Lady Tai
March 25th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Looks like I’ve been missing a lot of the excitement here! (Some of those poems were a hoot) I pray this book reaches a lot of people - #8 is fantastic! I think you guys can go to sleep with a smile on your face.
March 25th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Wow…I agree…this is like watching the elections, but better! I wasn’t able to order any books, but I’ve been having a great time watching it climb…and climb…and climb!
March 25th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
#6!!!!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
YAYAYAYAY!
#6!
March 25th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
wow! I am amazed that a godly book like this has made it to the top. Very rarely does a good Christian book (like this one) do so well. Congratulations Brett and Alex, fellow rebelutionaries.
Christ bless,
Caleb
March 25th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Here’s one more ordered…woohoo!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
#6 is so exciting!! This is awesome - yay! It’s midnight here EST, so I’ll be ending my watch for the day, but I’ll be back to check the rankings tomorrow! How long will our spot on the best seller list hold, do you think? An few hours, or a few days…?
March 25th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Number 6!!!!! Wow, that’s a long way from 452 this morning!! Praise God!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
#6, Amazing! Keep praying, everyone!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:10 pm

All the books are slowing down now… If we can have one more small burst, we could break into the top 5! Or more!
March 25th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
Wow! This is so incredibly awesome! God is so good… I guess we’re still finding out how good He truly is!
I’m so excited about this book. I ordered this morning and then left. When I got home tonight- the book was at #6. That’s just great! I’m so glad I could be a small part of this.
March 25th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
It’s past 12 here, so I’m finally going to bed, but like everyone else, I can’t wait to see the results!

March 25th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Got mine! A little late in the day, but in time for the book bomb.
March 25th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
I can’t believe how much action I missed out by sleeping for 9 hours, haha.
#6, hurray! What hath God wrought!
March 25th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Congrats on the rankings! It has been exciting to see your book climb the charts today, clearly demonstrating an impressive level of commitment shared by a lot of people for the “Do Hard Things” message. I look forward to reading the book soon.
I wanted to suggest that you send a reminder to the Rebelutionaries (through blog post, email or both) that Amazon purchases are still being accepted in the book bomb totals. It took a bit of digging for me to find out the real-time deadline was midnight PST. I think people would be interested in an update on the ranking and grateful for a reminder of the deadline. Just a thought.
Either way, God bless you and have a great night!
March 25th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
#6!!!! God has His hand in this!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Well, I guess #6 is as good of a place to go to sleep as any…

It has been encouraging and amazing to see God use this day.
~Lady Tai
March 25th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
#6!!! Wow! God is good!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
Wow, how awesome!! We have 53 minutes left. We’ll see what God does!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
I just placed my order, and I have a question:
I read somewhere, I think Brett said it, that you have to do something with your email for your pledge to count. Does this matter for the book bomb? Do I need to do something with that?
Thanks and God bless.
March 25th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
First: #5!!!!!
Second: Victoria all you need to do now is buy books on Amazon.com! =D
March 25th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Five! It’s number 5!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Thanks Brett. I’m so glad…
I buy my book and it jumps to #5. Makes me happy. God is so good.

Great job guys! Bought three copies and got the free shipping.
I very much look forward to reading this, and have a couple friends who will no doubt greatly benefit from your teaching.
Soli Deo Gloria!

March 26th, 2008 at 12:41 am
I guess it’s a night, huh? Congrats boys! this was amazing! God is so good.
March 26th, 2008 at 1:34 am
Yay we’re in the top 10 bestsellers on Amazon - and pretty high up the top 10 too!
Not to mention it’s the top Christain book on Amazon
and #2 in Hot New Releases. Well done everyone who was part of this. I hope the book stays high for a while!
And, the seed has been sown - now we need to water it with our prayers, praying that the book bomb will bring the message to many new people and that overall the book would be blessed and very effective.
March 26th, 2008 at 2:28 am
I’m still being amazed. This book bomb project in itself is already full of the spirit of the rebelution
Sarah Magee is right. Let us continue to water the seeds with our prayers. God’s name be praised!
March 26th, 2008 at 2:56 am
It’s 5:55 am, but I had to get up and check the results! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 4:15 am

March 26th, 2008 at 5:24 am
Oops, I was looking at the wrong thing. Sorry!
March 26th, 2008 at 6:12 am
Good morning everyone!
When I woke up it seemed to drop to #7…
I guess main the book bomb is over?
Well, we made it to the top 10 and far exceeded the expectations!
March 26th, 2008 at 6:12 am
Wow! It made it to the top 5! I didn’t wanna go to bed last night, but my parents made me, lol. Alex and Brett, congratulations! Can you tell us the actual number of books bought?
Another thing I thought about…in sending my 140+ emails to encourage people to buy the book, I not only intorduced that many more people to “Do Hard Things”, I also introduced them to The Rebelution movement! I think you guys are about to see an influx of hits on your blog!
Praise God for what he has done here!
March 26th, 2008 at 6:13 am
Oops I forgot: SOLI DEO GLORIA!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 6:19 am
This has been amazing! A true blessing of God.
I wasn’t able to keep up with everything yesterday, since I was gone all day. But I checked in around 7p.m.(eastern time?) and found that we were at #12, I instantly praised God. My mom and I bought two copies last night. I would have bought 5, but my pocket book was already extremely stretched at buying two:)
When I got on this morning and saw #5, I was amazed and again had to praise God for His many blessings and wonderous works.
God Bless!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 6:43 am
It’s at number 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 6:46 am
Wow, #5. Thank You, Lord! I love it when Rebelutionaries work together to get Hard Things done!
P. S. Alex and Brett, I hope you guys are getting some sleep!
March 26th, 2008 at 7:05 am
#5! That’s exciting! When I ordered my copy yesterday it was somewhere in the hundreds! Goes to show what God can do through our individual efforts. Soli Deo Gloria!
March 26th, 2008 at 7:06 am
Hey, guys, I don’t know if this is right, but I see #8 on Amazon.
March 26th, 2008 at 7:11 am
This is so exciting! Yeah, I see #8 on amazon, too. But #5 on here. Either ranking sounds pretty good to me!
March 26th, 2008 at 7:41 am
hey guys this is so exciting! I wish I could have bought a book but we are kinda tight on money right now =( but I checked the library website and the King County Library System has ordered 8 copies and there are already 6 holds! I can’t wait til it gets here!
March 26th, 2008 at 7:42 am
#5!!!! God is GOOD!!!!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 8:14 am
Yeah. It says #8 on amazon right now.
But I’m still praising God that it made it to #5, even if it wasn’t for a long time!
March 26th, 2008 at 8:17 am
Emily: It was #5 for four straight hours and has been in the Top 10 for over twelve straight hours. It’s dropping off now because the book bomb is over (though people can obviously still buy the book). =)
March 26th, 2008 at 8:22 am
YAY!!!!!!!!! 5!!!!!!!! GJ everybody!!! thank you God!!!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 8:24 am
Wow, that’s so amazing! Too bad I missed out on all this. Still, it was pretty exciting reading all your posts.
By the way, how do you know where it ranked in Youth Ministry, Parenting Teenagers, etc?
March 26th, 2008 at 8:26 am
I’m very pleased at how high the book made it on the charts. Hopefully this will have the desired effect and catch people’s eye. Perhaps the thing we can most hope for is that people who have never heard of The Rebelution will get the book and decide to join us.
Great job guys! I pray that God will use the Book Bomb to get many people to begin doing hard things. In Deum confidum!
March 26th, 2008 at 8:29 am
There once were to twins who, aplomb,
decided to throw a book bomb,
the book sold so well that hits started to swell
for therebelution.com
You done good men! (and women)
God bless!
March 26th, 2008 at 8:29 am
Alyssa: You can see those rankings on our actual Amazon page under “Product Details”…
March 26th, 2008 at 8:30 am

GOD IS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
March forward Rebelutionaries!
March 26th, 2008 at 8:31 am
Wow!!!! From 627 to 5 in 1 Day!!!!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 8:34 am

March 26th, 2008 at 8:46 am
I ordered my books!!! I can’t wait untill they get here - I ordered a bunch and I’m going to give them to some of my friends!!! Alex, Brett, thank you so much for writing this book!!! Praise The Lord!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 8:48 am
Wow, while we slept over here on the East Coast, it went up to #5! That is so wonderful! What an amazing book bomb that was, right? I mean, it is just SO much more exciting and wonderful because it is a Life-Changing Christian book, AND because of all the prayers put into it, and the praise that we have been giving God! I mean, when was the last time, at least half of these 310 comments have been about how amazing and praiseworthy is our Lord? Amen? AMEN!!!! All I can say is - God is so good to us! Hooray too for Brett and Alex!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 8:49 am
Brett: I now see it.
Maraming salamat. (Thank you)
March 26th, 2008 at 8:49 am
WOW! How exciting!
Can’t wait to read the book.
March 26th, 2008 at 8:53 am
It was a long, exciting and intense day,
Waiting to see on what rank it would stay
Watching as ‘Do Hard Things’ climbed the charts
As we added it to our Amazon shopping carts.
It was #5 when the clocks declared midnight
It had then reached, for the day, its utmost height.
Look at all those who helped get it there,
Whether by purchasing or through prayer.
God’s hand was clearly seen
As the stats rose for ‘Do Hard Things’
Long will it be ere we forget
(For excitement hasn’t died down quite yet)
The day we had the Book Bomb
And the book rose to five on Amazon.com
March 26th, 2008 at 9:07 am
Congrats Guys! The book will do great! I can’t wait to read my copy. I’m also looking forward to the conference again this year. I know it will be the same message, but it’s a message worth hearing twice!
March 26th, 2008 at 9:18 am
Awesome poem, Jenna! Thanks to everyone who participated!
March 26th, 2008 at 9:25 am
Wow! #5!!! Only God could of gotten us this far! Praise God!!!

March 26th, 2008 at 10:04 am
To GOD be the glory!!! Amazing! Can’t wait to read my copy…..though Brett, didn’t you say we would get it before the release date? How will that work?
March 26th, 2008 at 11:29 am
Ella: If I understood things correctly you should be receiving your books on April 15th — the release date.
March 26th, 2008 at 11:42 am
We’re #5,
what surprise!
We dropped our bomb
from the skies
Shocked the world
with our success,
and proved our
fight was not jest.
“Do Hard Things!”
that’s our cry
when we drop a bomb
from the sky.
Congratulations every one!
March 26th, 2008 at 11:43 am
We’re back down to #10, does that mean anything important?
March 26th, 2008 at 11:59 am
#5 overall - God is good!!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
Woohoo!

#5 - that’s great!!!
We DID make it to the Top 5 after all! I knew it was possible. But why did it have to happen right after I went to sleep?
Soli Deo Gloria et Honor!
Amanda: I think it just means that not as many people are buying books today.
hehe
~Lady Tai
March 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Great poem Amanda!
God is SO good!
March 26th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
This is hysterical… these comments are so much goofier than general Reb stuff!
Not that it’s a bad thing… it reminds me of the whole, “Did you have to say ____? I’d prefer ____ or ____.” Seriously, though, good job! Publishing a book makes a great medium for reaching people who aren’t on the Reb or coming to the conferences.
March 26th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Congratulations, guys! That is so awsome! I cannot wait to read the book (and recommend it to people and keep it prominently displayed in the new books section of the library where I work!
).
March 26th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
Two teenage boys with God in mind
Have written a book for all mankind
It targets teens to face the world
And rebel against the pressures hurled
To “Do Hard Things” might not seem cool
At home or work or—guess what—school
But in the end God always wins
He’s on our side, so let’s begin!
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throught all generations, forever and ever! AMEN.” (Eph. 3:20-21)
Y’all rock!
March 26th, 2008 at 2:03 pm
So….this was completely exciting! I’m glad I got to be part of it. Congratulations!
March 26th, 2008 at 2:03 pm
Wow! #5 is so much more then we could have done on our own. God was definitely working through this!
March 26th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
Wow! I just read through all of the 330 comments, and they were pretty amazing! I must add my voice to the chorus of those who love the name “Taurnil” (especially when I imagine what it would sound like when said with a British - or New Zealand! - accent! Those poems were awsome too. The most amazing thing is how many people from other countries participated; that was amazing! I wish I could say that I was glued to the computer all day, but, sadly, I had no idea how much hype the bomb would create. Fortunately, I did buy a book yesterday! Congratulations again!
March 26th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Oops. Apparently, the hype is still going strong as three people commented in the time it took me to type that last one, so there were 333 comments!
March 26th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
It’s kinda sad to see the book moving down now. But it was great while it lasted! I can’t wait to get mine!
March 26th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
I wanted to say that I posted earlier that my mom and I bought 2 copies, but later this morning, she told me she actually bought 3! I know it’s just one more, but still… I’m sure it helped reach the overall rating of #5:)
God Bless!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
Wow!! I still can’t believe we made it to #5! Does anyone know how many books were actually sold yesterday?
March 26th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
I’m still sooo excited! I can’t wait to get my book!!
To God be the glory!
March 26th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
That’s great! I just found out about the Rebelution a few days ago. I’m enjoying the blog and can’t wait to receive the book I got yesterday! I was very discouraged the other day, and so I prayed to God about it and then I found out about this Rebelution a day later! God is very good!
March 26th, 2008 at 6:26 pm
Wow!! I totally can’t believe that I forgot about the book bomb until one of my small group girls reminded me, and then I worked at extra hour and a half at work, so by the time I got home, the book bomb was over!! Oh well, God is good, and I’m still going to buy three books ASAP. And now, a poem.
To talk of hard things is a noble endeavour,
Performing hard things is in God’s eyes is far better.
The blog and the book spread the message abroad,
And this bomb is an effort at which I applaud.
So Alex and Brett, and all like-minded teens,
Do all to God’s glory. . . whatever it means!
Blessings on you, Alex and Brett!
~Camille
March 26th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Hey everyone, we heard from our publisher today — and a lot of books were bought. Significantly more than were pledged beforehand. Unfortunately, because Amazon has to guard the methodology with which they calculate sales rankings, they cannot allow us to post the number publicly.
However, we can tell you that hundreds of books have been bought today by people who have come across Do Hard Things because of the high ranking you gave it yesterday. That’s amazing!
March 26th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Just wanted to clarify on my poem, the last line to be specific. “Do all to God’s glory. . . whatever it means!” I didn’t mean “Whatever *that* means” as if I didn’t know what it meant to do something to God’s glory. I meant Do all to God’s glory no matter what the consequences. Just thought I’d clarify in case someone misunderstood. Ah, the constraints of meter and rhyme
March 26th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Hey guys!
I haven’t had a chance to go through the blog just yet, but I have a question. Do you think I could benefit my daughter by going through this book with her in a devotional type format?
Thanks,
Mark
March 26th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
It’s at 24 now…. I guess the book bomb really is over!
I still can’t believe it got up to 5!
March 26th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Wow - EXCELLENT job everyone/Brett & Alex!
It is so awesome to see the Lord bless you two and your amazing efforts!
March 26th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Awesome
Its amazing to see what the Lord can do!!
Number 5 bestseller is a brilliant effort on everyones part including Brett and Alex.
Thanks guys
March 26th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Hannah Jane: Remember, that’s still #24 out of millions and millions of books. The bomb is over, but the fact that we’re still that high is still incredible.
March 26th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Oh, wow. Wow! Praise God! =D I’m speechless!
March 27th, 2008 at 3:14 am
#24 is still excellent!!!!
March 27th, 2008 at 6:51 am
This really has been a true example of Character, Competence and Collaboration (the three pillars of the Rebelution) .
Character; which led Alex and Brett to write this book with the godly content and motives.
Competence; which they used to market their book and even come up with the book bomb and pull it through.
Collaboration; which we all used as we helped each other to make this book soar to the top.
I was thinking “Well, what if someone only buys 1 book? That doesn’t help much.” Then I realised that the only reason WE (Alex and Brett said it was “WE” ) got Do Hard Things to #5 was because of people buying 1 book and then someone buying another 1 book and then another 1 book and so on… And eventually we bought hundreds! Wow!
It is the same for everything we do. We may be thinking, “Well, it is only such a little thing.” But you know what ?! Little things and more little things eventually create huge things. We can not do Big hard things at first, but lots of Little hard things will change the world!
Let us continue to do hard things for the glory of God!!!!
March 27th, 2008 at 6:52 am
Right around #25 is a good number, since it’s at the bottom of the first page of best-sellers. When people pause as they’re going to click over to view the next page they see “Do Hard Things”! I think from a browsing perspective it would be less advantageous to be right in the middle.
March 27th, 2008 at 8:13 am
Angela Charis,
What you said about little things becoming huge things reminded me about a quote I came across while doing some research last week.
“We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot forsee.” ~Marian Wright Edelman
God Bless!
March 27th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Angela Charis, you’re sure right about doing little things! It is with little drops that a bucket is filled
Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I enjoyed reading your thoughts!
March 27th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
I didn’t have the money to buy a book, but I found out the yesterday that my dad bought me one! I had felt a little bad about not buying one, and so I was very grateful when I found out that my Great Loving father bought me one. =D
March 27th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 28th, 2008 at 8:16 am
I JUST noticed that your forward is by Chuck Norris!!
hahaha
Is it just me not being observant, or was that just recently settled?
Anyway, that’s awesome!

March 28th, 2008 at 2:37 pm

March 28th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
you guys should do another book bomb!!!
March 28th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
Hi ya’ll, God is so good! After I bought my book, my eleven year old sister insisted that she wanted to buy one too, even though we don’t really need two copies. The drops in the bucket really filled it up.
To borrow Ron Hamilton, Little by little, inch by inch, by the yard it’s hard, but an inch what a cinch.
Alex and Brett: My five year old brother is even caught up in all the excitement, he told us yesterday that he thinks you guys are cool. Train em while they’re young!
Sister in Christ, Jordan Elizabeth
March 28th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
wow!, cool!
March 28th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
if anyone is there please answer me!
March 28th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Well, it has dropped down to #203 in Bestsellers. That is still a good number! It’s at #1 in Youth Ministry, Christian Living, and Teenagers, still!
Ethan: The best place to start is by reading Alex and Brett’s articles about the Rebelution and the concept of “Do Hard Things”:
http://www.therebelution.com/blog/2005/08/the-rebelution-a-challenge-for-my-generation
http://www.therebelution.com/blog/2005/08/historic-times-a-call-to-my-generation
You can get an actual excerpt from the book here:

Basically, if you like what’s on the blog, get the book!
March 28th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Hello Ethan,
If you haven’t already, may I suggest reading the excerpt from Do Hard Things?
