Upcoming Events - 2008

Besides four conferences in 2007, and seven more this year, we’ve been blessed to see other doors open for us to meet rebelutionaries around the country and spread the message of the Rebelution to new audiences. This post will serve to highlight some of those upcoming opportunities. Pray — and if you can make it, come!
May 24th and 25th: Spirit West Coast (Del Mar, CA)
Alex and Brett will be speaking at the largest Christian music festival in the Southwest on Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM. A meet-and-greet and Do Hard Things book signing will follow around 3:15 PM at the Rockpile.
May 29th: Focus on the Family (Colorado Springs, CO)
The Thursday before the Denver conference, Alex and Brett will be in Colorado Springs. From 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM there will be a meet-and-greet and Do Hard Things book signing at the bookstore on the Focus on the Family campus.
July 3rd: Generation Joshua Summer Camp (Purcellville, VA)
This summer camp offers teens an exciting week of discovering how they can play a vital role in impacting our nation for Christ in the civic and political arena. Alex and Brett are the featured speakers on Thursday, July 3rd.
July 17th: Extreme Camps - Exalt 2008 (Lindale, TX)
Teen Mania presents Exalt 2008, a week of worship, teaching, and (pretty) extreme group activities. Alex and Brett will have two afternoon sessions on Thursday.
Hope to see you there!

Those all sound like great fun, but my family is moving this summer (again, we haven’t lived anywhere more than 4 years), we’re going on a mision trip to mexico next month (I can’t wait), I may go to your dallas conference (my parents still need to talk), the list goes on and on… it’s going to be a busy year.
May 17th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Awww… Too far! We hope to see you guys in Des Moines though!
May 17th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
While I don’t think I will be able to make any of the events (bummer), I will definitely be praying for you guys and all the teens coming. Keep up the incredible work!
May 17th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
Cool! I hope I can get to at least one of them!

These events all sound exciting!
I just came across an article by Robert Epstein, published in Scientific American Mind magazine. It made me think of the Rebelution, because Epstein, a famous psychologist, has done lots of research on the adolescent mind and finds no evidence that the teenage brain is wired toward irrationality or poor decision making skills. In fact, he is working on a book titled The Case Against Adolescence:Rediscovering the Adult in Every Teen. Here’s the link to his article: http://drrobertepstein.com/pdf/Epstein%20-%20THE%20MYTH%20OF%20THE%20TEEN%20BRAIN%20-%20Scientific%20American%20Mind%20-%204-8-07.pdf
Maybe you guys have already heard about Epstein’s reasearch, but I just wanted to let you know just in case.

I have just started reading the book!! I am not very far into it yet but i can’t wait to continue it. My mom suggested the book to me and it look interesting. I mean a book writen for teens by teens. I love that idea and it makes the book even more exciting and interesting. I will continue to read it and I will tell you what I think after i am finsished! Well thanks a lot for this book and I hope that it will make an impact on my life like I am sure it has done and will do for thousands of teens out there!!

You guys are coming to the city I live in. Colorado Springs! Cool!
I heard that you guys met Dr. Del Tacket who does Truth Project the other day. Well, I had done the Truth Project with some friends and he came to our small yesterday. It was so neat to get to meet him and talk to him. For any of you who don’t know what The Truth Project is you should check it out.
Soli Deo Gloria!

Ahh *sigh* still nothing in Seattle. I guess Portland was the closest to WA you’ll be getting in the near future.
But hey the Portland conference was fantastic, so I’m not complaining….
May 20th, 2008 at 10:05 am
Eric If they have one in IN then would that be to far for you?
May 20th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
I can hardly comprehend traveling so much so close together! I don’t think I’ll ever say I’m busy again.
You two make me feel tired just thinking about all that you’re doing. And yet, I am continually in awe and amazement of what God is doing through my two friends. With that said, I am praying that God will continue to strengthen you and give you restful sleep. I’ll miss seeing you guys back home. In Christ alone, Lorianne

I can’t make it to any of those. But I’m so happy because I just found out that I’ll be able to go to the Colorado Conference for sure!!! My dad and brother are going with me, and probably a few friends. I can’t wait!!!
How much do the books cost at the conference? I want to buy several for some friends and for our library. I might order them, but I thought if they’re a better price at the conference I’ll just wait.
May 21st, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Hey Miranda, it will be great to see you in Denver! The books are $10 a piece at the conference.
May 21st, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Great! Then I’ll plan to buy them at the conference! Thanks!
May 21st, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Ahlaischa: I want to tell you that I’m glad you found out about the Rebelution. You will be so blessed and inspired. Or at least I was.
Miranda: I’m going to be at the Colorado conference too! Maybe we’ll get to meet each other! I went last year with my mom and 2 of my sisters, but this time my whole family is coming. I’m so excited!
May 22nd, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Hillary S., that’s awesome!!! I hope that I’ll be able to see you there!
May 23rd, 2008 at 11:59 am
I’ll be away on the only one that’s not too far!!
May 24th, 2008 at 10:04 am
Rats. We were just in Colorado Springs, in fact, we were AT Focus On The Family! ‘Tis almost a pity we couldn’t have moved just one week later.
I’ll be praying for smooth and safe travels and a wide expansion of the knowledge of the Gospel.

You guys are seriously missing the northeast… which stinks because I’m in Texas until the 23rd of June… so I’m only 5 days off from your Dallas conference… You need to come to either MA, NH or ME (totally the last)
May 29th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Thanks, Hillary and Alex!
I hope to be able to make to the conference in Dallas! Thank you Hillary for the encouragement, how did you find out about The Rebelution? Just wondering:)
May 30th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Ahlaischa: I hope you get to go and be inspired like I have been. I found out about the Rebelution through one of the girls in my homeschool speech and debate club because she was coordinating it last year and was asking for people to come volunteer. The Rebelution has opened my eyes to things I didn’t realize were happening in our culture and really inspired me to go beyond what’s expected. Soli Deo Gloria!

Dear Harris Family,
I am so impressed by what I heard yesterday at the Dallas conference! I am a 47 year old parent of two teenage boys and I was really convicted about what I’m NOT doing on behalf of my boys. Pastor Harris, you and your wife are to be commended for what you are doing by raising a Godly family!! Please post more helps for parents to be part of the TEAM!!!

Hello,
I saw you guys at Teen Mania, and I have to say that I definitely see God written all over this. Immediately, I felt a tug at my heart, and somehow I know that God wants me to be apart of this ministry. I am so excited to hear that you guys decided to add Austin on to your list. It gives me the chance to delve deeper into what your campaign is really all about. Thanks for everything!
Stay Blessed,
Camilla Martin

Yay - another conference!! I thought you might not do anymore…and I was really really really sad that I wouldn’t be able to go to one, since I LOVE your book and blog.
Hopefully I’ll be able to come to the one in Austin, Texas, this October!!
Thanks again!

Although I won’t be able to make it to anything I’ll keep praying for our “rebelutionaries” (but I totally agree that you should do a conference in IL, preferably near the Chicagoland area). Thanks for everything! This website (and your book) has truly made me a more Christ motivated teen!
In Christ’s Love,
Kayla

It would be awesome if you guys did a confrence here in sunny Phoenix, Arizona where the heat is nearly unberable and the winters have no snow. My fam is on a small budget and can’t aford to drive a couple states away to go. Your book is so encouraging and I have it as my #1 recomendation!! Thanks Alex and Brett.
