Never Silence Life: 01-22-09

The three Barlow sisters may be one of the biggest bands in Christian music, but their passion is for their generation — and a generation yet unborn.

Every 22 seconds a child dies. Not of starvation, AIDS, or unclean water, but because someone made a choice — for convenience over innocent life.

In the month leading up to January 22nd, 2009 — the 35th anniversary of the legalization of abortion in America — Alyssa, Lauren, and Rebecca are asking you to join them in being a voice for the voiceless: Never Silence Life.

Brett and I are joining them to pray and spread the word. On the 22nd of January, we and group of fellow PHC students will be joining them in the March for Life in DC. We want you to join us in your local communities.

Visit their website to sign up and learn more. Donate your profile on Facebook and MySpace. Organize a silent protest in your area. Pray. Fast. Speak. Act.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.” — Jeremiah 1:5

    Abortion makes me so……..Mad!
    I will gladly be praying and spreding the word for this cause

  7. Abigail @ Pearls and Diamonds Says:

    I work in a Crisis Pregnancy Center doing administration and counseling and I can join with the cry for help! Our client numbers are skyrocketing…and the political horizon is discouraging! Already we are getting bogus calls and hearing political threats from high officials who are launching all-out campaigns to shut down all “fake” (read “life”) clinics. So much political red tape for us to even operate! Each person who joins with us in prayer and fasting and peaceful demonstration is pleasing the Lord who is a defender of the fatherless and a helper of the helpless! Thanks Alex and Brett for helping spread the word! I’ll be joining with ya’ll in whatever way I can!

  8. Emily Says:

    Thank you, Alex and Brett for posting this. That is really important for everyone to hear about. I will be praying HARD. Thank you guys for all that you do, God Bless!!!!

  9. Jordan Diann Says:

    I am so excited about Barlow Girl’s effort in all this and so happy you guys joined the bandwagon. Lord have mercy on this generation.

  10. Rachel S. Says:

    I will be praying for each one of you. God bless!

  11. Sarah King Says:

    Wow, this is so cool! My little sister, who’s 17, has been in a lot of online debates recently over abortion, and I have been horrified at the number of people IN THE CHURCH who supported “a woman’s right to choose.” It makes me sad and mad and hurt and sorry for them all at the same time. Why is this such a difficult issue in the church? It’s clear what God’s Word says! But sometimes it’s easy to feel like an island in the middle of the ocean. It’s so good to know that my sister isn’t the only one fighting these issues and I’m not the only one backing her up. I know I can speak for her as well and say that we will both be supporting BarlowGirl in this! I already loved the band. Loved the way they took the “unpopular” but oh-so-needed stand for modesty and waiting on God’s time. Now I love them even more. I can’t wait to show this to my sister!

  12. Ethan from Youth in Action Mag Says:

    Thats SO awesome! I’m gonna make a post about this tomorrow on Youth in Action Mag.

  13. Rikki Says:

    This is great! Being a voice for the voiceless is something that is HARD, especially in a world that excuses it with a bunch of scientific mumbo-jumbo
    I will be praying - fervently!

  14. Aline Ramos Says:

    Hi, Alex and Brett! I’m from Brazil, and I had been reading your blog in the last month… (firts, sorry for the english! I supose it’s not so good! :P)… And this last post is fully important! I really think that abortion is a thing so terrible, it’s terrible just for thinking about! And I wanna help you, enough I’m in Brazil, I believe we can do anything here too, and I wanna be it with you and that girls! At that time, I posted this text’s translation at my blog, but I’ll be calling other people to do something here in Brazil!
    God bless you all the days!! And thank you so much for your inspiration to our generation!!!

    (And again, sorry for the “brazilian-english”! :P~)

  15. Brianna Says:

    Wow…what a an awesome mission. I’ll pray…

  16. Alyssa C. Says:

    Wow, that’s such a great mission! Praying! (And joining in my own communtiy here. :D)

  17. Hannah D. Says:

    WOW!! I will be praying!!! My church does something like this - we put up crosses in the front lawn of the church, each church representing some hundreds of thousands of babies that have died since abortion was legalized. I will be praying!

  18. Hannah H. Says:

    I’m so glad you posted this! I was already planning on taking part in this and I just donated my facebook profile to it before I saw this! Recently I have been becoming more and more passionately against abortion! I’m so excited about all the opportunities there are to fight against abortion! Every Friday my friend and I fast lunch at school and pray to end abortion (with bound4life.com). Not only are we accomplishing something praying, but a lot of people ask about it so it gives the opportunity to tell people about where we stand on the issue and why. I’m will definitely continue to pray about ending abortion! As exciting as it is to fight against abortion, it’s also completely heartbreaking that we have to fight against it.

  19. ceira Says:

    I, too, will be praying, and will send out an e-lert to my friends. I have been praying much on this issue, ever since my brother and I worked on the campaign for pro-life legislation this year in our state (that defined the person hood of the unborn). It is amazing what excuses people will give to shield their positions. Those who campaigned against the amendment chose as their slogan, “It simply goes too far”.

    My pastor preached this morning on giving God our all. To the point where it is really a sacrifice! Hot hearted service will seem “fanatical and even inappropriate” to the half-hearted. But we can joy in surrendering our all to our Lord.
    Thanks for the information,
    Ceira

  20. Skylar Says:

    I just heard about NSL and got really pumped about it. In fact, my family and some friends may be heading to the March for Life in DC. I am still a little confused, though, about how to actually hold a silent protest. Some specific details would be great. That could help with organizing something through my church and/or school, whether I’m here for it or not,

  21. Yssa Says:

    one time we went to a field trip in my country before were we could see how the fetus looks from 1 month to 8th month… and really, it breaks my heart, I think on 2 months old you could already see the image of a baby.. i’m not actually sure if it’s two months or what, that was like 3 years ago.. but anyway, I’ll be praying for you guys… I wanted to join this, but I don’t really know how it goes…

  22. Hannah Y. Says:

    Definitely checking this out. I live about 50 minutes north of D.C.

  23. Imogen Says:

    I love Barlowgirl… it’s strange that they released their first album at around the same time I became a Christian, and their songs have really challenged me in my faith. Hope it goes well… abortion is heinous and it’s great that you can publicly protest against it. xox

  24. TGS Says:

    Wow, my mom and I were just talking about the whole child’s rights/parental rights issue today. In Belgium parents are required to abort if there child is going to have medical problems like down syndrome. It makes me sick.

  25. Becca Whitpan Says:

    I’ll be praying! =) High hopes that God will be there on the 22nd!

  26. Emmie Says:

    I will definitely be praying for this. Thanks for posting and bringing this to our attention!

  27. Catherine Hayes Says:

    That’s two days after I get back from a missions trip. And it’s on a day that my homeschool group meets. I really wish I could go! My family and I have gone on the March For Life several times, since we live about half an hour outside of DC. I’ll be praying, though.

  28. Ariana Says:

    This is awesome. I am proud of the part of my generation that is choosing to follow G-d. May He give all of you strength, and I will also be praying.

  29. Sarah Byrum Says:

    Thank you both so much for spreading the word about the Barlow girls’ intervention. This is my calling - I am here today because an unwed nineteen-year-old girl chose life. And she has never, ever, regretted it. Neither have I, as a matter of fact. :]

  30. Noella Says:

    I have and will continue to pray that more people would wake up to the plight of unborn Americans and see the need to speak for the silent.

    Life is precious! Can’t all those pro-choice people grasp that??

    I weep for the lives of millions of babies murdered so cruelly, and I tremble when I consider God’s wrath and coming judgement.

    With that said–I hope you guys have a glorious Christmas and a wondrous New Year.

    Jesus is the Reason for the Season!

    Cradled In Christ,

    Noella

  31. Noelle Says:

    I will be praying! I feel strongly for pro-life. The people my mom goes to see for pregnancy and stuff offered some testing for her when she was last pregnant. My mom declined, because she said it wouldn’t alter our choice to have the baby. It’s so sad when they offer this stuff just so that they may offer abortion to those who want it. I’ll let my friends know!
    ~Noelle

  32. Michael Seifert Says:

    In my church, there are groups of people that go out to a abortion clinic every saturday. I’ll spread the word to them and see if they can organize an event on January 22. I’ll be praying for the March for Life in Washington D.C.

  33. Jordan Whitmire Says:

    Praise the Lord. I am a supporter of the Ga Right to Life movement here in Atlanta Ga. I feel it a honor to be apart of something that my change the nation we live in. So yes I will pray for this, as the night continues on.

    For we as the next generations. Need to rise up and stop the evil, that this nation has become, we must, it is are calling as Christians to follow what the word of the Lord says, and killing baby’s is murder. We must rise up and stop this. Not only this but everything. I say as soon as we end abortion for we will. We go after the taking out of the word in the public schools, or the right to have gay marriages. HOW HAVE WE LET THIS HAPPEN?

    I’ll tell you. Were to stinkin scared. We think that if we stand up and say something, someone will hurt us, or make fun of us, or we may lose are JOB. Oh my word that’s just horrible. No let me tell you whats horrible. I’m pretty sure I can bet most of you have been on a missions trip. Well so have I. I’ve had two weeks in India/Nepal. There are Christians over there who are dieing this very minute because there standing up for the right thing, because they won’t bow down to no other God but the Lord. When I think of them and us. I’m ashamed to call myself a Christian, more over I’m ashamed to call myself an American. Were we can live in a freedom of speech. A place where we can have are own views about what we want, about this and that, and NOT get SHOT FOR IT. We have so much freedom, Let us use it while we still have it.

    So Pray that we as Christian’s will stop hiding in the corner, and stop being scared.

    In Christ

    Jordan

  34. Jordan Whitmire Says:

    Oh and I will be walking in the walk for life here in Atlanta.

    God Bless

    Jordan

  35. James Cooley Says:

    I will also be praying for you all on that day. I am homeschooleed also and in my Biology I just got through with studying how the baby is made and because my book is christian based it also show all the methods they use to abbort babies and when I read it I sat there and balled my eyes out a good ten minutes beforeI could finish so just know I will have me and my youth group be praing for all the marchers on that day.

  36. Jordan Says:

    That’s is so cool! I’ll be praying.

  37. Antoinette K. Says:

    Wow, that is sooooo neat! I will be praying fervantly for all that participate, and for the many lives that are at risk, but we should also pray for those NOw as well, not just on Jan. 22nd! :)

    Here is a link to a young lady who was an abortion survivor!
    Her testimony is AMAZING!
    A true woman of God, and I would LOVE to meet her someday! :)

  38. Katelyn Snell Says:

    I will definetly be praying! I love their music and am proud to join their stand against abortion. This issue is going to become HUGE in this next presidential term.

  39. Alley Says:

    Wow! Thanks for posting this. I love Barlow Girls, and I have been trying to convince one of my best friends that abortion is wrong. This is something that I am passionate about. Thank you so much. God Bless!

  40. Amber C Says:

    ok i have a question for all of you guys,
    and sorry if this sounds a little rude but did any of you consider the mothers? who knows what caused them to become pregnant? what if it was rape? what if the baby that could have been aborted (oh that sounds terrible) is brought into a world of abuse, foster homes, no friends, no God , just pain? personally im really torn over this issue because i know and believe that abortion is the wrong answer but what if? there is always an exepmtion to the rule. please respond to this comment i really want to know what people think about this and if they have a pice of evidence that can help me understand all of this better. i wonder if God had a plan for an unborn child to be aborted? that maybe the life they might have had would have led them away from God? that god was saving them from pain? another thing is that God gave us free will and its not our place to take that away from someone. again please resond and thanks for any responces.
    Amber

  41. Eliza W. Says:

    Amazing! Have any of you guys heard of “Justice for all”? It is an amazing company (if you will) that fights against abortion. The owner was blessed enough by God to buy a building RIGHT NEXT TO GEORGE TILLER’S CLINIC!!! Isn’t God awesome? I encourage you to look up his website (Justice for all) to learn more, but I warn you it is really graphic.
    My church is really, really into the whole abortion and gay marriage agenda, so my church family will be excited to hear about this! :-)
    Also, following up on what Antoinette K. posted… There is this inspiring book called “Gianna”, it is about an abortion survivor.
    God bless you all this Christmas Eve!

    Eliza

  42. Eliza W. Says:

    PRAYING!!!
    Fervently!!
    I’ll also alert my Youth Pastor and e-mail my friends!!
    I’d been debating about whether I should join a picketer’s session with Justice for All, or the Pregnancy Crisis Center–now, I think I’ve got my answer!!
    Thank you guys, for staying on top of everything!

  43. anonymous Says:

    Amen to that

  44. Elisabeth Gruber Says:

    Mother Teresa:
    “Many people are concerned with children of India, with the children of Africa where quite a few die of hunger, and so on. Many people are also concerned about the violence in this great country of the United States. These concerns are very good. But often these same people are not concerned with the millions being killed by the deliberate decision of their own mothers. And this is the greatest destroyer of peace today- abortion which brings people to such blindness.”
    “It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you live as you wish”
    ~~~~
    I have a friend who shared some heartbreaking news with me over the summer. When his mom was very pregnant with him, she decided she was going to have him aborted. He said that when his mom drove over to the abortion clinic, they had literally just closed for the day and wouldnt open up so she could have an abortion. The next day, he was born and she kept him. He is not a Christian, and always feels unwanted and unloved by his mother, because he knew she would have aborted him while she was pregnant had she had the chance. On the plus side, it was a great time to share with him that Jesus loves and cares about him, that He had his mom get there late so that my friend would live, and God kept him alive for a reason.
    Pro-abortionists either do not know or do not care about the mental and emotional (and or course the physical) repercussions and damage that abortion has on not only the mothers, but also the children and even the fathers. Its all about short term problem correction, and money. It’s disgusting.
    ~Elisabeth
    p.s. Sorry the comment is so long.
  45. Lissie luvs 2 pray Says:
    Merry CHRISTmas evreyone!!
  46. ceira Says:
    Antoinette K.,
    Thanks so much for posting that link! Wow, she is passionate, fearless, truthful, forgiving yet unyielding. Willing and more than willing to proclaim the name of Christ! I liked how she said that she had a sign on her forehead that said that she was God’s girl, and that you had better be nice to me, “Because my Daddy rules the world.” Wonderful courage!
    Amber,
    I am glad you asked your questions, and I will answer them as best as I am able.
    Many times I have heard the “plea” of rape or incest as a reason for abortion, and I would like to point out that less that 1% of all abortions are for this reason. I have no doubt that it is painful for the mother, humiliating. But, in the Bible, God does not give double standards. If some one kills an innocent human being (born or unborn, Exodus 21:22) it is murder.
    I know a dear fellow Christian who went through the painful, unwanted, unloved life that you referred to, and though her life is still not easy, she is one of the most encouraging, loving people I know. She blesses God for every thing, whether pleasant or not.
    As for an other option… adoption. An adoptive family can be chosen before the birth of the child, to ensure that they will care for the baby. I think crisis pregnancy centers can help arrange this…though not sure. There are Christian adoption agencies who certainly can.
    God does not desire babies to be slaughtered, He wants families and churches to reach out to them, both mother and child, and care for them. Help them. Love them. He is in complete control over each and every pregnancy, and if it is not His will for a child to live in this world, He can take it home. He does not give mothers, fathers, friends, or doctors licence to make that decision.
    As for free will, I am not quite sure what you mean by that. Free Will is our ability, given by God, to make the choice of whether we follow God and His law, or not. It does not give the right to compromise and make our own rules to decide ethics. That is disobeying God’s word, and rebelling against Him.
    If by free will you mean our rights, then please consider that the rights of the baby are being grossly neglected. And not out of any uncertainty of the “humanity” of the baby. Abortionists call them babies. Killing babies is called infanticide.
    Please forgive me if I seem harsh in my response. Know that I say all this in love, but it is a harsh truth that needs to be told. Again, I am very glad that you asked. If you have more questions, or something I said doesn’t make sense, ask again! :)
    In Christ,
    Ceira
  47. Michelle Says:
    Amber, I think you may be on to something. While we should work to reduce abortions, compulsory pregnancy laws are neither moral nor practical. This is assuming one could find a politician who truly would outlaw abortion (George Bush and a Republican congress barely touched abortion). I just can’t imagine the American female population accepting laws that legislate forced pregnancy. Also, if you declare a fetus a legal person, what about mothers who hurt their fetus by smoking, excessive drinking, or bad nutrition?
  48. Michelle Says:
    Everyone on the Rebelution — Merry Christmas!!!!
  49. Elizabeth Kelley Says:
    Wow… that’s amazing! I’ll be praying, and I’ll see if I can come on down to DC that day.
  50. Hannah Peck Says:
    MERRY CHRISTMAS everybody!!!
  51. Hannah O'Donnell Says:
    Amen. How can we be silent when there are so many innocent hearts becoming numb to the Truth? Have a Merry Christmas and God bless.
  52. Cate Says:
    Amber, I’m going to attempt to respond to your comment humbly and with convictions grounded in the Bible. I am by no means an expert on abortion and have not studied this topic extensively. I have, however, read through the Bible and believe that “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” 2 Tim. 3:16-17 It is on Scripture that I base my response.
    Adressing your concerns for the mother, I could not fully agree more. I know that many women have been abused and led into pregnancies they do not desire or seemingly deserve. There’s an entirely different scenario for women who willingly engage in intimacy and then conceive. For those women, I believe the “choice” was made in choosing intimacy, whether within the context of marriage or not. However, it seems that you are wondering about the women who were unwillingly and harmfully led into pregnancy and that’s the issue I’ll adress. These women have been cruelly wronged. I cannot imagine the pain and trauma they feel. But even though they have suffered so intensely, that does not mean they can murder the life that is now in them. Two wrongs do not make a right. If you believe that abortion is murder, which I do, then the mother is just compensating sin for sin. There are other options for mothers to pursue outside of abortion. Many parents desparately desire to adopt and there are great resource centers for mothers who have unwanted pregnancies. Unlike the message our culture preaches, abortion is NOT the only option.
    But this leads to your next question, which is what if abortion would be better for the child than life, or what if God ordained that the child be aborted because He saw that the child would lead a life in godless misery. To these questions I have two responses. We do not know what God’s plans are for the future. We do not know if the child would have become an abused serial killer or an international ambassador for Christ. We cannot know. “”For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.” Is. 55:8 Imagine if a 21 year old was murdered. If someone said “He was at the peak of his life, about to finish college, on fire for Christ, and engaged to the girl of his dreams. But who knows what his life held? Maybe he would have dropped out of college, become a druggie, lost all his money, and committed suicide. It’s better that he was killed”, we would scorn their foolishness. True, maybe this guys life would have spiraled downward the day after he was murdered, but as humans we do not know that. He might have become the next Billy Graham. So instead of assuming that God would have given the child a miserable life, we should treat every murder of an unborn child as if it were Einstein who was just aborted. It is foolish and arrogant to assume that we can know what God would have done with a life.
    In response to your question about God having a plan through the child’s abortion, I must say that I agree with you. I believe that God works all things, good and evil, for His glory. He works through tragedy to bring good (think of Christ’s death). I do not know how He does this, but I know that He does. This does not, however, mean we should not do everything in our power to prevent evil. When evil happens, we know that God will cause it to work together for the good of His Kingdom. That does not mean we should just kick back our heals with a let-the-world-fall-to-pieces-and-let-God-fix-it mentality. We should seek to honor God and glorify Him through obeying His commandments in all things.
    You also mentioned that God gave us free will and we have no right to remove that from someone. Whether or not a Christian believes in free will, all Christians believe God gave us commands about how to live. We must have laws that govern this country because man is sinful. If someone stole your brand-new car you wouldn’t say “Oh I won’t press charges. He was exercising his free will to steal and that’s not my place to judge his actions.” If you don’t believe in moral absolutes, then there is no reason to judge someone else’s moral decisions. Since we are Christians and believe in God’s inspired Word, then there are definite commands about what is good and what is evil. One of the Ten Commandments is “You shall not murder.” Ex. 20:13 Since life begins at conception, and murder is ending human life, abortion is murder. It is no different from killing the hypothetical 21-year old I mentioned earlier. It is taking life.
    Amber, I am by no means trying to deal with this issue thoroughly and completely. I understand that it is very tricky and complicated and its complexity is multiplied by our culture. I am NOT trying to beat you over the head with pro-life agenda or force you to become pro-life. I am lovingly trying to point you as a sister in Christ to what I believe is the truth. We all struggle with tricky issues and need our spiritual family to help us Biblically wade through them. I admire your frankness with these questions and courage to raise them on what is known as a conservative blog. I also commend your humility to ask for answers to your questions and willingness to consider those answers. Many of us could have much to learn from humility such as yours.
    To all of you, thanks so much for caring about this topic. I believe it is the most important issue in our culture today, and I am inspired that so many people are passionate about it. May Christ be glorified!
  53. Kaylee Says:
    what “exactly” are they asking us to do?
  54. Grace Says:
    Hey Amber C.,
    I’m not sure if anyone has pointed this out to you yet, but on the sidebar under the heading Websites and Ministries, there is a link that says Abort73. This website addresses in depth many of your questions and concerns. You should check it out, I think it will offer you some clarity. I hope this helps you!
  55. Noella Says:
    I just sent an email off to our Homeschool event coordinator to see if we can stage a silent protest in front of our county courthouse on the 22nd of January.
    I will be with you all in prayer.
    Pray that more Christians would have the raw courage to STAND for the TRUTH and the RIGHT!!
    Blessings,
    Noella
  56. Arada W. Says:
    There is one fact about abortion that truly troubles me. Every two and a half years more humans are killed in abortion than humans were killed in the Holocaust. If you ask anyone on the planet if the Holocaust was evil and wrong; they will all say it was. However, was it not the Hitler’s choice? He chose to kill the Jews and other groups, but the world sees his choice as evil. Why is it not the same with abortion? I will truly pray for anyone who has the guts to stand against abortion!
  57. Abby Says:
    This is actually the 36th anniversary. I participated in the March for Life last year and will be again this year. It’s a very solemn experience.
  58. Kiley Hayes Says:
    i am overjoyed that barlow girl has chosen to take a stand on a matter weighing so heavily on my heart!
  59. David Daniel Says:
    To be honest, the thing that gets me with abortion is the amount of natural abortions (miscarriages) that happen in the world. They far exceed the number of artificial ones. Should we hold funerals for them? I am not convinced that a mother should have the right to terminate her baby’s life, but I am not convinced that every fetus is a person from conception either.
    If someone could provide a link answering this objection, I would be most grateful.
  60. Megan M Says:
    Amber C:
    I am glad that you are seeking help on this issue. Why cannot these things be perfectly cut and dry? If you do things this way it will always be bad, if you do them this way, it will always turn out perfect. Wouldn’t that be nice! I would encourage you to pray about this. Our Father has all the answers!
    Here are my thoughts. The Bible gives no provision for killing outside of war (which has limits as well) and capital punishment. Thus, I do not think that it matters what kind of life the child may have. In fact, the mother cannot even see the future well enough to determine this. God can and does work good things out of bad in His great mercy, but we do not have that power and knowledge. If it is not a good time or place for a baby, than behavior leading to pregnancy must be altered. That is where the choice should be made. I know this is different for rape cases, but even there God was sovereign over conception and we have no right to end the life He allowed to start. Christians should support and care for such mothers, not encourage abortion. To illustrate, here is a video of a woman who survived abortion to have a bad foster care situation, have major health problems, and become a Christian. It should be really helpful.
    http://solofemininity.blogs.com/posts/2008/10/abortion-the-strong-define-the-rights-of-the-weak.html
    David Daniel:
    I don’t think that there is any evidence that a fetus is not a human. Being made in the image of God has nothing to do with having legs and eyeballs and beating hearts. If God knew you in your mother’s womb (Ps. 139) what did He know, a piece of tissue? Is that what He knows now, what He knew before the creation of the world, what He elected, who Jesus died for (which was before your birth)? Even if you are not sure, why err on the side of abortion? If you are wrong, you are a murderer. If you err on the other side, what have you lost? I hope this helps, please let me know.
  61. Morgan Says:
    Wahoo.
    I am VERY passionate about this topic and have done many debates and written many essays about it at my public high school. I will definitely try to get a group of students at my school to do some sort of protest on the 22nd. It makes me happy that there are other people out there fighting for what I care so much about.
    Also, we were going to try to find out when the FOCA (Freedom of Choice Act) bill would be going through the the House of Representatives or the Senate so we could hold a protest around that date and show our Senators and Representatives that we care. So if anyone has any information on that..please reply.
    THANKS!! This is awesome. =]
    David Daniel,
    I thought this link answered your question well: http://www.abort73.com/HTML/I-A-2-prenatal.html If it’s not the exact answer you were talking about (I wasn’t sure if you meant moral or physical personhood), if you click around a bit on the website you’ll find some good solid answers. I hope this was helpful.
  63. Grace Says:
    Oh, and another thing, sorry to keep rattling on, but when my mother suffered a miscarriage, we did have some semblence of a funeral and grieved. Some friends of ours also suffered a miscarriage, and there was a funeral. So, I don’t know if that says anything, just thought I’d mention it.
  64. jd Says:
    Just a quick clarification. Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973, making 2008 35 years and 2009 actually 36 years. Just thought I would point that out.
    May America realize and repent from the abomination of abortion.
  65. Alain Leon Says:
    Wow! A pro-life march! I wish i could be there! Man, abortion has been a touchy subject for me for a long time. I’m a freshmen in high school and it bothers me to see so many issues in our country are just slipping on by. The motto “never silence life” is such a good one because our doctors and scienctist say that babies aren’t really human until they are born, or that we really don’t know when a baby becomes human, so leave it to the mom. WHAT?!?! Last time I checked, the baby and the mom aren’t the same person. Life starts for a human at conception. America is SO funny. We want to get rid of the death penalty because criminals shouldn’t be punished for their vicious crimes (I actually had someone tell me that to my face) but we allow 1 million babies to be killed every year (2470 babies are murdered every day in america). But of course, it’s all in the name of convienience and women’s rights. (By the way, Abortion was legalized because, whoopsy, in the constitution, women have the right to privacy! Wow. I don’t know HOW privacy and killing a baby connect, but thats whats wrong with our world today.)
  66. Lydia T. Says:
    I never have posted on here, so i’m a newbie. But I’m doing a series of blog posts on my blog on your book right now, and I’m really enjoying it. I actually started to write a book on this very topic before I even OWNED your book, and I still may.. but with your book out, there’s nothing more that I can really say… =D
    I’m am passionately against abortion. It absolutely goes against the “Thou shalt not murder” commandment. But it just seems to be common sense that abortion is wrong. And yet, women are so intent on getting their own way and their own choices. Even in a rape, I think that to abort is absolutely out of the question. Children are a heritage from the Lord, and the bible never said anything about how they AREN’T in a rape or something. So, I believe that even in a difficult situation, God put it in the mother’s life for a reason. And it may sound very harsh, esp. to someone in the situation. But I truly believe that this is the answer. With God, all things are possible, as you all know. Why not learning to love a child (or accept the fact that he will be brought into a sinful world) be made into something to TRUST Christ with.
    that proly either made too much sense, or it’s about the most scattered thing on the internet right now.. but I truly hope you got my point there.
    Thanks for reading.
    I will totally get involved with this! Being Pro-Life is very close to my heart! it’s very heartbreaking hearing how much of our future we are getting rid of in the name of inconvienience! It really makes me mad! I love people who want to speak out about abortion!
    Godspeed! and blast abortion!
  68. Jake Says:
    This sounds great! What would be some ways to find other people who would be involved in this in my area?
  69. Liz Says:
    As a christian and human I definitely would call abortion evil. Believe me, BarlowGirl is my favorite band and I love how brave and bold they are to be the leader of a “Million Voices.” But I think everyone doesn’t see the FULL picture. Yeah, some baby’s are aborted to cover up a mistake, but other babies will be born into poverty. Yeah, they SHOULD have a chance to live, but try to see this through another’s perspective. Has anyone here read “The Good Earth” in English class? I read it last semester. In the story, one of the character’s, Olan, kills her baby after it was born, because everyone in the town was literally starving. Now are you going to tell me what she did was HORRIBLE. Are you going to compare it to MURDER? The baby would have died had it been born and as a mother she did NOT want to see her baby suffer. Now, are your eyes more open? That Chinese thing is similar to today’s abortion.
    Now listen to some statistics you probably haven’t heard:
    The Republican Party predominantly “pro-life” is totally toward having more babies born, but is not interested in funding the children that are born. Does that make sense? Before we illegalize abortion again, we need to make sure that when the babies are born, they can survive. Also, we should start funding for more sex-ed classes. If anyone lives in palm beach county, Florida they’ve probably sat through a “Be the One” class. It teaches total abstinence and about contraceptives. Let’s spread that across the whole country, so that we can have less situations where women will feel like they want to have an abortion.
    After we got all that passed in Congress, then more senators and representatives will be willing to pass a law like this. It’s evil. But we’re doing NOTHING about divorce…. They’re both in God’s top 10 rules. remember: he made the order, not us.
    So what I’m saying is that yeah, go ahead and join Alyssa, Lauren, and Becca in January, but remember that illegalizing abortion won’t totally stop it. Recreational Marijuana is illegal and a few years ago it was growing in a mall near where I live.
    We can’t abolish evil. Satan’s always here, but by killing the root of evil, we can stop abortion more appropriately.
  70. Monica T. Says:
    I sometimes wonder just how Gos feels each time a mother agrees to let the doctors basically kill her baby. Mmm… wow.
    Yeah, I’ll tell my friends about it, maybe we can go as a group to the DC march. Oh that God’s presence would be flowing through the streets of DC and everywhere else on that day!
  71. Noella Says:
    Liz,
    Just a thought;
    In the Bible, every time an INNOCENT human being has been killed by another human being–it has been called murder. War time killing of course is not murder, I know you understand that. But in the case of Olan in that story killing her baby, I think that only GOD has the right to take a life.
    …..
    I hope you can see that.
    God bless you,
    Noella
  72. Lydia T. Says:
    I might add, Noella, that God has the only right to take a life because all life comes from him, and belongs to him..
    In my opinion, I think the Church in America needs to wake up. Satan has put the Church to sleep and look what happens: pray and bible study forced out of public schools, the lagalization of abortion, the advancement of homosexuality, and the list goes on. We need to stand up and take a stand for biblical values in the U.S.
  74. Kiley Hayes Says:
    I believe that God’s view on abortion is clearly stated in Jeremiah 1:5-God gives life, and each child is born for a purpose known only to God. Grief can cause people to do terrible things, and without the hope and grace of our Lord, the sin and pain of this world is over-powering. We need to pray & try to reach those in need with the news that there IS hope, and that the peace & strength from trusting in Christ IS real!
    I can’t make it to the DC march, but i’ll DEFENITELY be praying!
    God bless you for serving our Lord!
    Kiley :)
  75. Liz Says:
    Noella,
    Thanks for responding. Yeah, if I had been O-lan I would NOT have strangled my baby, yeah the baby would’ve ended up suffering more, but……..
    Another point, that I don’t really understand, anyone want to help? The old testament law talks about if a man injures a woman when she’s pregnant and causes her to have a miscairrage then the man has to do somethng for teh woman forget… but t doesn’t say anythng about the baby as if it doesn’t count…..
    Also: in biology ive studied some birth development diagrams and i believe aborton s wrong but dont beleve the fetus is a human it has the potental but so do the millons of sperm that men poduce everyday…
    Now when thee spinal cord begins to form and it s visably a human that would be wrong but do you guys believe its stll murder after a few days or even a weeK?
    i would NEVER be in a situation where i was pregnant but one of my frends might be soome day…
    So i guess this is my view: abortion is wrong but it is not murder.
  76. Alissa Says:
    I am so glad to see people willing to step up and take a stand against abortion it is a holocaust of the unborn. I will be praying for you guys. May God bless.
  78. RBMA Says:
    Liz - If abortion is not murder, why is it wrong?
  79. Penny Says:
    Amber C,
    Thank you so much for asking that question! I’ve wondered about that one for some time. In the case of rape, I particularly wonder about those women who have psychological problems. If a woman is raped, and already had self image problems, and already engaged in self-injurious behavior, she is at greater risk than ordinarily for intentional or accidental suicide. Early enough in the pregnancy, that would mean losing both the mother and the child, instead of just one.
    Interestingly, I have never met anyone willing to provide support for a woman in that situation–because she would need constant support for the nine months and long after, to make sure her life is safe. Plenty of people are willing to condemn abortion, but when volunteers are asked to get a woman through the long pull, who has the time to help? Especially since she could be committed somewhere–they can ignore that there are laws that make it difficult to do that, and ignore the severe damage that can be done by “dropping off” a wounded heart into a strange environment and into the hands of complete strangers.
    I confess I do not have a solid answer for every Christian. Anyone’s response will be colored by their experiences (or lack thereof) on this issue, and their beliefs about many things. Not all Christians completely condemn abortion simply because beliefs differ, and one’s beliefs about abortion is not an issue which decides salvation. What I gather is that casual abortion, done for convenience, is unacceptable; done to save the mother (as in a situation like that above), particularly early enough in the pregnancy that the child would not survive in hospital, might be.
    I’m probably going to have people breathing fire at me for that response, but those are my thoughts.
    Blessings,
    Penny
  80. ceira Says:
    Liz,
    Sex ed classes are MOSTLY NOT used to teach abstinence. I have heard a testimony from a woman who taught said classes, who also worked at an abortion clinic. They encouraged the girls to “try it out”, then gave them contraceptives in such low dosages that it could not possibly prevent them from getting pregnant. On purpose. Why? Because they wanted the money for those abortions. And they targeted girls as young as fifth grade… (and maybe younger, I don’t quite remember.)
    Also, Why is abortion wrong, if it is not murder? Life begins as conception, at which point the embryo has its own unique DNA, is growing and moving. With simple support such as oxygenated blood, nourishment, and protection, it will continue to develop into “visible human being”. Those are the same things we need to support life.
    With its own DNA it is not part of the mother; It is growing, so it is alive; so what can it be besides human?
  81. Kaleb Says:
    I’ll spread the word.
  82. Josie Keys Says:
    Liz,
    If you want facts on abortion go to survivors.la. I will say that before a girl even knows she is pregnant, much less can get an abortion, her BABY’S heart is already beating.
    For you others who are already passionate about abortion,the best place to go is the “scene of the crime”,the so called “clinics”. Peacefully sidewalk counceling saves lives(and drives the abortionist crazy). Please dont misunderstand me. Everytihng ya’ll are thalking about is great, but the babys are dying at the mills.
    For the least of these.
  83. anonymous Says:
    Thank you so much for supporting this cause! The fight against abortion is something I believe very strongly in. It hurts me and makes me sick to listen to my friends talk about, if confronted with an unintended pregnancy, “of course” they would have an abortion but are still eager to be sexually intimate with their boyfriends. I support choice in the sense that every woman has the right to choose things like their car, house, spouse, and whether not to have sex, but they have to deal with the consequences of their actions, the choice is before and not after the pregnancy. I just hope that one day America will wake up and realize the horrible injustice that is being done so casually across the country. This blog of teens just like me who also feel so strongly about this cause has lifted my spirits and given me new hope for the future of our country. Thank you so much!
  84. Renesmee C. Says:
    ABORTION IS EVIL!!!!!!!!!!IT MUST BE STOPPED!!!!!!!! I have a lot of friends who say that abortion is okay if you don’t want the baby (ie you got raped and ended up pregnant). I believe that God still gave you the baby though. And you can still learn to love him/her.
  85. LoraG. Says:
    I know that abortion is wrong and must be stopped. Me and my school will be praying over this.
  87. Stephanie Says:
    I have always loved BarlowGirl, their music and their stand. Their stand for Purity and Life. I have been thinking alot about this recently and I am going to talk to my Youth Pastor and try to get my youth group involved in this. Our generation is dying so quickly and nothing is being done about it. My take on abortion: The babies who get aborted may be the doctor or scientist who has the cure for Cancer, Diabetes, Alzheimers, RSD, or any other disease. I believe this so much and it just kills me. I will be praying!!
    Stephanie!
  88. Taylor Stacy Says:
    I am totally on board! I love Barlow Girl and their music, and I am so glad that people are taking a stand against this. I will tell my friends and my youth group and anyone else I can think of. Thank You. I will also be praying for this! :)
    I think it is great that Alex and Brett Harris are joining.
    This is so awesome!
    I will be praying!
  91. Kelsey G. Says:
    I have always believed that abortion is wrong, but lately the Lord has been showing me how much He LOVES each child who is aborted. They are not just a statistic to Him. He says He knits us together in our mother’s womb–He creates and knows and loves each and every child from the moment they are concieved. How His heart must break every time a precious life is murdered.
    I am praying fervently for change in America, that we would value and cherish life as we should. I’m planning on hosting an abortion prayer night at my house as well.
    The book “The Atonement Child” by Francine Rivers is an incredible book that gave me a new perspective on the whole issue of what if the mom is raped.
    Thank you, Barlow sisters and Rebelution for taking a stand.
    I’m standing with you.
    Kelsey
