The Rebelution Tour 2009

Many of you have emailed us about dates and locations for the conference tour this year. After a four-city tour in 2007 and a seven-city tour this year, we’re working on plans to host four or five regional conferences in 2009 — and we need your help.

Here are the five locations we’re targeting for this summer — June to early August: Southern California, Houston (TX), Atlanta (GA) / Birmingham, AL, Chicago (IL), and Washington, DC.

For some of these cities, we still need help identifying and securing facilities that can seat 3,000 or more people. For all of them, we’re looking for local teams of churches and rebelutionaries who can help bring the Rebelution Tour to their area.

Few things the Rebelution does are as important as the conferences. And that’s not because they reach so many new people. It’s because the conferences provide a unique opportunity for rebelutionaries to live out the “do hard things” message.

We’ve had 14-year-olds working with convention centers, 15-year-olds operating $50,000 robotic cameras, 16-year-olds managing grassroot publicity, 17-year-olds coordinating the local teams, and 9-year-olds running the Audience Response Technology. These are big events — for young people by young people.

We can’t wait to see what God will do in 2009 — and the next few months are critical for building these teams and getting the ball rolling. If you know of a great facility, or if you and your family or church wants to be involved in bringing a conference to one of the locations listed above — now is the time to let us know!

To get involved, just send an email to Matthew Cunningham (address below) with the location you want to help with in the subject of your email. Thanks so much!

  2. Sarah Says:

This sounds awesome! I live in VA and would love to help, I’ll have to ask my parents first. Emailing Matt. :) Thanks guys!

  3. Ali Says:

    Yay, Atlanta!

  4. joshua thompson Says:

This is great but when are you coming to california(northern)

  5. Christin A. Says:

Oh! I’ll tell friends in Southern California! God bless to the 2009 DHT Tour!

  6. carrie Says:

My husband and I are in our 20’s. Is this limited to teens only? We would love to help, we live in the Atlanta, Ga area.

  7. Hannah B. Says:

So I’m guessing the 200 plus names I gathered on the petition I sent it weren’t enough to get the Rebelution to come to Michigan?

  8. Alex Jordan Harris Says:

Joshua: We actually came to northern California (Sacramento) twice — in 2006 and 2007.

Carrie: Definitely not limited only to teens. We’d love to have your help too.

Hannah: I’m sorry! We really would have loved to come to Michigan. Because these events draw from such a big regional area, we have to target central locations. Chicago is close to Michigan, but it’s also a lot more accessible people in the greater Midwest — and for people flying in.

  9. Amylia Says:

I would love to come to one of these conferences somday! Has there ever been a Rebelution meeting in Missouri? There are many homeschoolers and Rebelution fans here…
    ;)

  14. Claire Says:

Yay! Washington D.C.!! I live in Northern VA, so I’ll be able to go to that one! Can’t wait!

  15. Daniel Hayes Says:

Cool! I went to your Gaithersburg, MD conference last year, and it was really good. I’ll make sure to tell my friend about this (he lives in Illinois).

  16. Ella Says:

Everything is still so far from me! I’m out in Idaho…..but my dream is to go to D.C. one day…..so maybe it could work ;-)

  17. Leandrie Says:

How exiting! Although I don’t live in any of the cities listed, I do live about 4 hours away from Atlanta GA. I will ask my parents if they would be willing to let me come, I would love to help out in any way that I can. If I remember correctly, my swim coach mentioned that we might be having swim competitions in Georgia summer of 2009. It would be very cool if I could make it a multipurpose trip!

  18. Brad Says:

Do you have an Atlanta location/facility identified yet?

  19. Alex Jordan Harris Says:

Brad: We’re working on it, but we’re always open to suggestions and leads. Email Matthew and let him know if you have a connection to a facility that would work.

  20. Sarah D. Says:

If you’re looking for a place in DC other than Covenant Life Church, check out Hylton Memorial Chapel in Northern VA (Woodbridge, actually: http://www.hyltonchapel.org/. Also, I’m a 24-year-old Rebelutionary, and I’d love to help if I can. I’ll e-mail Matthew. =)

  21. Jed Estrada Says:

Awesome tour schedule! You have an excellent north/south/east/west balance. The D.C. tour looks like the one for me in the North East. I’ve never made it to one yet, so I am looking forward to it! :-)

  22. Noella Says:

I’m closest to the IL location and haven’t been to a DHT conference yet, not for lack of wanting…I guess we’ll have to see how the Lord will work everything out.

    God bless you guys!

  23. Rebecca T. Says:

Will talk to my parents but I hopefully can help with the DC one!

  24. Hillary Hipps Says:

    Texas or bust!

  25. Sophie :) Says:

    Hi guys,
Do you have any tentative dates yet for California? My family and I are going to take a trip to California in the summer and if possible I’d like to plan the trip around your conference so I can attend. :)
    Thanks!

  31. Liza Says:

  32. Liz Burton Says:

I’m hoping I will be able to go to the Chicago event! I can’t wait! If there is anything I can do to help I will. I live in Indiana, but I would still like to help. Let me know. I will be praying that you find the right place to hold the event.

  33. Kaylee Says:

I’m looking forward to it and hope to be able to drive to atlanta for it. I have a question. In your book you talked about the “intense reading plan” that you dad put you on. what books did you read? is there a list somewhere? i’m an avid reader and would love to know what you guys read. thanks for all you do!

  34. Sarah Sabol Says:

Maybe I can make it down to the Washington D.C. one. It’s a bit away, but I’ll see if my parents can.

  35. Tiff Says:

Know about when you’ll be in Atlanta??? Maybe I can convince my parents to drive over into Georgia. We want you guys to come to the Birmingham area though.

  36. Alyssa C. Says:

Wow, that’s wonderful! Praying and promoting! God bless!

  37. Sophie :) Says:

    Kalylee,
If you go to the top of the page and look to your right, you will see a little link that says the Mini-Blog. Now, scroll down and you will see a picture of them under that link. Under the picture there are a few links and one of them says “Alex and Brett’s Booklist”. I encourage you to read the books there. I love to read too and I’ve read some. They have enough there to last you for a while :)
    God Bless.

  38. Stephanie Says:

Are you guys planning on doing any Rebelution conferences in the Pennsylvania area?

  39. Amanda Howell Says:

I might be able to help with the Chicago conference. I live in Indiana about 5-6 hours away, but I have relatives in Chicago, so I might be able to hook something up there. I’ll see if my Aunts and Uncles know of anything that might help.
I missed last year’s tour and I don’t intend to miss this year!

  40. Noelle Says:

Yay! Houston! My homeschool group had posted info about last year’s conference in Dallas and my mom said we could go but I was like, “Mom, that night is the end of VBS. I can’t leave all the kids for some conference .” Well, I’ve read the book and am rereading it now. Thanks for coming to Houston! I’ll talk to my mom about helping. I’m thinking the Toyota Center. (That’s where the Rockets play). It’s pretty big. Again, thanks for coming to Houston!
    ~Noelle

  41. Hannah D. Says:

Like Lissie (first comment) I live in WA and there isn’t a lot I could do, except pray!! I really wish you were coming to the northwest!! (especially since you live there!) But I’m really excited for everything you’re doing and I’ll be praying for you!!

  42. Julia Says:

Cool . . . when are you coming to NY?

  43. Eric Novak Says:

Yay! I was wondering when you guys would get around to Chicago. You need anything just let me know. I’m ready to volunteer. :)

    Eric

  44. Taylor Says:

Yaaaaaaay!!!!!!! You’re finally coming to Southern California!!!!! Yayyyyyy!!!!!

  45. Sara K Says:

I hope that I can come to the one in Atlanta. If you need some help I’ll try to help in anyway I can! If you were coming to Tennessee, I would say that the Sommet Center in Nashville, but that’s not really going to help you out in Atlanta. Just let me know if I can help in anyway. Kepp up the excellent work!

  46. Myrto G. Says:

    Hey Alex and Brett,

I think it’s simply awesome that you ‘re continuing these conferences!
I live in Greece. No chance of you coming here I guess :(
Anyway, I’m almost as excited as if I could come! (sorry-impossible :( )

I’ll be praying most assuredly for them all. It’s so wonderful that they ‘re a chance for teens to experience their own personal rebelution-working with high-technology equipment and taking up responsibilities-kind of what you guys did in the Alabama Supreme Court! (And many times thereafter of course…)

Oh, and I can’t thank you enough for writing Do Hard Things. I finished it about a month ago, but I keep coming back to it all the time. It’s been such a blessing! I wish these phrases weren’t so overused..but they express my exact thoughts.

    God bless manifold!

    Myrto

  47. Myrto G. Says:

What does “your comment is awaiting moderation?” mean?

  48. Anna H. Says:

oh no I think your skipping Portland Oregon YOUR HOME TOWN!! Are you coming there too???!!! Just later in the year???!!! I won’t get to see you in Oregon if that is what is happening : ( praying for you all throughout this process.

  49. Rebecca Says:

I am excited! Last year we did not get to go to one even though you all were close. This year you all are coming to D.C. so I would love to help. I will definately talk to my parents about volunteering!

  50. Rebecca Says:

Myrto G. awaiting moderation just means that your post is waiting to be looked at by Alex or Brett or another rebulutionary who helps with this site. They look at it to make sure its appropriate and does not contain bad content and stuff like that.

  51. Hannah D. Says:

please please please come to Oregon!! you can’t skip it because it’s you’re hometown!!!!!!!

  52. Hannah D. Says:

oops sorry I spelled ‘your’ wrong.

Myrto, I don’t know what it means. It was on one of my comments in a previous post as well and I have no idea why.

  53. carrie Says:

Hey guys, I emailed you earlier, my husband and I are interested in helping in the atlanta area. A few places to consider:
First Baptist Church of Woodstock is pretty large- we don’t go there but we did see a concert there. Cobb Energy Center is another large vendor, as well as the Cobb Galleria.

  54. Lissie Luvs 2 Pray Says:

I second or third (whatever I am ) That you sould come to Oregon!

  55. Marie Says:

So, are you guys finding anything particularly “HARD” at school so far?

  56. Josie Keys Says:

I am so glad ya’ll are coming to Houston!
We are moving to Houston in January, and I can’t wait to go to my first conference.
I will try to get some friends from Austin to come!

  57. Elizabeth Kelley Says:

Are y’all using CLC again as the Washington DC location? That’d totally rock if you are… I’ll be praying! Solo de gloria!

  58. Caitlyn B Says:

I’m so excited about this! I live about an hour away from Atlanta and would love to help if i could get more information about where to go and what to do. I’m in the process of reading your book and from what i’ve read so far it’s amazing and has really changed my life. Thank you guys so much for all you do!

  59. Caitlyn B Says:

Oops one more question for you guys, what all exactly goes on at these confrences? I haven’t known about the Rebelution for long but i’m very interested, thanks!

  60. Sarah Pena Says:

YAHOO! I’m so excited! Southern California? Yes!

Ehem. Sorry. I got plugged into the rebelution this year and have been waiting to hear if you would come to C.A. this year but I thought you would come to Sacramento which is just a little to far for me. I am going to send an email to Matt right away, I’ve got an idea. Again, Yahoo!

    God bless!

    Sarah. :)

  61. Katelyn Says:

PLEASE come to Atlanta,Ga!! I wanted to go to one this tour, but was unable to :(

    Courtney

  63. Amanda Howell Says:

Actually, I missed this year’s tour and I don’t intend miss next year’s!

    (Sorry about that)

  64. Loribeth Hauffe Says:

Do you have a place for Houston? I’ll email Matt, but I’m thinking the Berry Center(where there are many Christian (and secular) concerts, or Champion Forest Baptist Church. They are both pretty good sizes, but not too big.

  65. Hannah Peck Says:

Bummer! I can’t believe I missed the one in Denver last year (two hours away from where I live) and now the closest one is Houston, not very close. I’m trying to convince my parents that we should take a trip to Texas this summer or better yet D.C. where some really good friends live. Hopefully, something might work out. I’d love to come to one of your conferences next year.

  66. Courtney Cooke Says:

I must say I am ecstatic, bring it on ATLANTA!!! YEAH! :)

Hope you guys are going well!

    -Court

  67. Jonasz Skrzypkowski Says:

When will be first tour in Europe?

    rebelutionist from Poland

    …bo Polska potrzebuje zbawienia

  68. Hannah D. Says:

Caitlyn B - Click on the “conference” part at the top of this website, there’s tons of information there.

  69. Joanna Says:

Do y’all have the exact dates for each city yet? May the Lord bless you and guide you in your planning!

  70. Jer178Rebelutionary Says:

Ohhhhhhhhh Yeahhhhhhhhhhh! I am definitely emailing Matt. I was able to go to your conference in July, and it was…. well, it was absolutely amazing for lack of a better word! My family and I are definitely available and willing to help in any way we can.

    In Christ,

    Ericka

  71. Noelle Says:

Please let us know as soon as you guys have dates. My mom and I want to be the contact people for our church. I told my mom yesterday that I didn’t want to go to a conference coming to Houston in Feb. as I wanted to the go to The Rebelution. My mom is excited, though not as excited as I am!
    ~Noelle

  72. Matthew Cunningham Says:

It sounds like some of you are bummed that the Rebelution isn’t coming to your city this summer. Well we anticipated this would happen, so we have created DVD conferences.

Helping to host the DVD Conference allows you and your friends to experience the exhilaration of actually doing a hard thing successfully. You will discover that God really can use young people like you to make a positive difference in the lives of others. It only takes 1 enthusiastic young person (age 13 and up) to get started. The key to hosting a DVD conference in you city is finding a facility. Once you find a facility, anywhere from 100 – 1500 seats, set your sights to packing out the house.
We provide all the instructions for you to follow, from prayer, to publicity, to registration, to facility set up, to refreshments, to running the conference bookstore and to final clean up.

All the details aren’t worked out yet, but they will be soon. If you would me to send you information as soon as its available send me an email to: matt@therebelution.com , in the subject line put “DVD Conference.”

  73. Katrina Martin Says:

Looks like you guys like making me drive far. :P

  74. Miss Sarah Jean Says:

I am glad that things are working out for you guys to have another conference. God is so great!!
I will be praying toward this summer. Though Mexico is a little far off for me to be able to attend the conferences, we might be on furlough and be passing through. I’ll ask God about that and maybe He’ll work something out!

How many days are you guys going to be in each location?
Anyway, I pray that you guys don’t get too swamped with school and everything else!!

    Blessings!
    ~

  75. Ashleigh Says:

Yes! Atlanta! I am so excited.

  76. Holly Says:

Yeah! Southern California- does that mean San Diego?

  77. Myrto G. Says:

Rebecca, thank you for explaining :)
Hannah D., Rebecca explained our question just under mine. Think it ‘ll help you too!

Also, I would love to volunteer and help in any way I can.

  82. Clarice Gerbl Says:

    Hi, Brett and Alex!

We have some pretty big churches in my city. Do you not want to use or prefer to use churches of certain denominations?

  83. Katelyn Says:

First Baptist of Woodstock is a good place. Philips Arena might work too, I don’t know. Would love to help in any way. Do you have dates yet?

  84. Hannah Y. Says:

I live only 50 miles from D.C.!! So happy!! :-) The Lisner Auditorium in George Washington University (D.C.) might be good, but it’s already booked till May ‘09. I don’t know how many seats it has, either. I’d love to volunteer too–just gotta ask my parents first.

  85. Jake Says:

Too bad I live in one of the most unpopular states in the country! (Mississippi). I’ll be praying fo ry’all, that these conferences would be of eternal value, advancing not only the Rebelution, but the Gospel of Christ more importantly!

  86. Rachel Says:

Must…Reach…California! Unlikely, scince I live in Hawaii, but I can still dream. Wish you guys could come out here. I’ll pray. A lot.

  87. Natasha Victoria Says:

Grace Community Church in Los Angeles for your SoCal location perhaps??

I am definitly going, however, no matter where in southern CA it is :D

  91. Kaylee H. Says:

I’m so excited! I live in North-West AR (no chance of you coming somewhere like St. Louis or somewhere more this direction is there?), and i hope I can come to the Houston Conference this year.

  92. Grace Hamilton Says:

I don’t know if you have the Houston facility dicided on yet, but Founders Baptist Church (http://www.foundersbaptist.org/default.asp) may be a place to consider. I’m not totally sure how many they can seat, but I know it’s big.
I’m so excited to hear how the conference affect people in 2009!
    ~Grace
    Acts 20:24

  93. Emily Says:

I am so excited to have you guys down here in Southern California!!!! I want to help in ANY WAY I CAN. Depending on the date. I have a rather large homeschool group and I can start promoting as soon as we know where and when. Keep it up!!!!

  96. Molly H Says:

I’m part of the Sovereign Grace Church in Spokane, and I’m curious if there’s a possibility of having a conference in the Eastern Washington area? It’s exciting to see what’s taking place and what God is doing through you. Would love to be involved.
    Thanks!

  97. Caitlyn Says:

    HELP ME!!!!….

  98. Katelyn Says:

What do you need help with, Caitlyn? Prayer?

  99. Ellen F. Says:

When are ya’ll coming to the Dallas/Fort Worth area? We have several convention centers here that might work, and I know my friends and I would help organize it!

Do you have its dates ?

  101. Julia Says:

  102. Julia Says:

  103. Sarah Pena Says:

    Caitlyn,

I’m with the other Katelyn. What do you need help with?

    God bless!

    Sarah. :)

  104. Sarah King Says:

This is amazing! I’m so excited! I wish I’d known about the rebelution before last year’s tour, but I didn’t. I just finished your book and let my friend borrow it. Now I’m reading Zach Hunter’s book Be the Change. It’s also very good and worth the read!
Any idea when you’ll be in the Chicago area? That’s the closest one to Ohio, but I don’t get to go home until July. So hopefully it’s in July or August. Although, if it’s in June on a weekend I may be able to get the weekend off to attend. How long are your conferences? I’m going to do everything in my power to be there! Hopefully with my sisters and some friends. Looking forward to it! God bless!

  105. Julia Says:

I read “Be the Change” too! Isn’t it amazing???? I loved it. It’s in my top favorite books. :-)
That’s one of the great thing about “Do Hard Things” and the rebelutionaries here! I am soo grateful for this! :-)

  106. Jacob Says:

Do you have an approximate location for the California one? (I’m in northern CA.) Maybe I can convince my parents to take me if it’s not too far.

  107. Rose Says:

    Dear Alex and Brett,
If you do a conference in Huston I will try to be there. I really wnted to go to the conference you did in Dallas, but gas was too high. I would love to see you in the new year though. So if you come to the great state of Texas, hopefully I will be there to welcome you.
    In His hands,
    Rose age 17

  108. TJ Says:

    check out there website
    http://www.kanakuk.com

  109. BJ Says:

Hey do you know where exactly in Southern California the conference will be held? Because if it is too far I probably wont be able to go….but if it was in Monterey I would probably be able to make it.

Also is there any chance of maybe one year having a conference in Sacramento,CA?

  110. sky Says:

I will so be willing to help and I will be at the one in Huston!!

  111. Jacob Says:

Sacramento would be great, it would increase my chances of coming by 85%, at least.

  112. Issachar Says:

    Hey guys,

I know this is way off topic, but after Huckabee dropped out of the presedential election race, who did you (Alex and Brett), support and ultimately vote for?

    :-) I know, I know…crazy question.

    But I was just wondering…

    Your Brother,

    Issachar

P.S. I supported Ron Paul from the start and then voted for Chuck Baldwin after the former dropped out.

  113. Caitlyn Says:

Thanks Katelyn and Sarah…yeah i do need prayer..My grandmother just passed away on friday night..and because of it…my family has gone in to a down-spiral..we are breaking at the seams..my grandma was the glue that held us together..she was superglue..but now..she’s gone and,..i’m so hurt and confused…she was the only one who believed in me and encouraged me in my “walk” with God, and she told me i should do what-ever i could to make it to one of these conferences… but i’ll never be able to go now…my parents would never allow it..I wish God would just comfort me..but now i feel so lost and alone..like he’s not really listening…and my family definitely doesn’t listen…i only said something on here, causei was hoping to get some other form of encoragement..i get none at home…i really wish i had some goods friedns to talk to…please keep me in your prayers..thank you
    sincerely
    Caitlyn

  114. Katelyn Says:

What does “your comment is awaiting moderation” mean?

  117. Lindsey Says:

Wow, it’s really cool to see what God is doing through you guys, thats awesome!

  118. Julia Says:

    Hey,
Does anyone have a quizlet account? I made DHT sets. :-)

  119. Jacqueline Says:

Wow, I am absolutely pumped about these events! It would be awesome for my youth group to make the trip to Houston and come to the conference…I may present the idea! I live in Kansas, so it would be a haul, but I think it would be awesome. If not, I’m definitely coming myself! Keep up the awesome work, Rebelutionaries!

  120. Taylor Says:

You need to come to Sacramento! Or near there anyways!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

  121. Jessica P. Says:

Sounds cool! And I’m only 12! Anyways! Yall are awesome living for God! I was amazed looking at all those comments, and how many there were!
I hope God does great things in your lives!
Have fun to people who are going!
    Merry CHRISTmas!

  122. Jessica P. Says:

Sorry I ment to say “lifes!”
    -hehe!

  123. Mel Says:

    Hey Alex and Brett,

Sorry to add to the long list of people requesting different locations but you guys really should come to Aussie sometime!!!!!!! There are heaps of rebelutionaries out here! ;) There are plenty of people here that would be willing to help out and my Church would probably be willing to host it! I know it would be a huge deal and take a lot of organising but just thought i’d put it out there!

God bless you both - I’ll be praying that all the preparations for the 2009 tour goes well!

  124. Hannah Michelle Says:

Fantastic! I am really looking forward to coming again, Lord willing! :)

  125. Lindsey Bradford Says:

Hey guys! i just got done reading ur book “do hard things” AWESOME! but yeah, i live in the ATL area tho…i would absolutly LOVE to help out!!.

  126. Julia Says:

Jessica P. - Love the CHRISTmas! I SOOO agree with you. CHRISTmas should be called CHRISTmas more, not just Xmas or a Holiday!!!! CHRISTmas forever! :D

  127. TGS Says:

    Hey Julia,
Just for interest on the Xmas thing. The X stands for the Greek letter that is the first letter in Christ in the Greek. So Xmas really is an appropriate abbreviation and comes directly from Christmas. That the X is from people who want to exclude Christ from Christmas is just an old rumor that has been going around for a very long time. I agree with you though, Happy holidays gets on my nerves. It is all over the place, and I live in the so called Bible Belt!!

  128. TGS Says:

    P. S. Merry Christmas everyone. May God Bless all of your celebrations!!!

  129. Catherine Hayes Says:

I hope I’m in town! I live right outside of Washington D.C and would love to volunteer. Thank you so much for doing these tours, Alex and Brett. I went to the Washington D.C. conference last year shortly after I read the book, and it was awesome! I hope I can help.

  130. Irina H.F. Says:

i went to the north carolina conference this year.I cannot remember the last time I was so blessed. I will definitely try to come to the D.C. conference.

  131. Katelyn Snell Says:

    Caitlyn,
I am sorry about your grandmother :( I will definetly be praying that God will provide a way for you to go to the conferences, and that you will meet other Believers who will encourage you in your walk with God.
    Katelyn

  132. Sarah Pena Says:

    Caitlyn,

I too am very sorry about your grandmother passing away. But always remember these few bible verses. In 1Thessalonians 4:13 it says, “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.” If your grandmother was a Christian then she is very happy right now. She is now in heaven with her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ and you do not have to sorrow as those who have no hope.

Also remember that in Romans 8:28 it says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” If you love the Lord then whatever he does in your life will always work together for your good. Although you may not realize it at the time. Maybe he is testing you to see if you will still follow him even through this great trial?

I know it seems sometimes that God may not be listening to you, but he really does. Even if you prayer in the middle of the night he still hears you. Consider Psalms 55:17, “Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.” He always hears our voice, so never forget to call on him. :)

My advice would be to just keep reading his word. It will be your greatest place of comfort. I know it always has been to me. My family and I will continue keeping you in our prayers.

    God bless!

    Sarah.

  133. TGS Says:

    Caitlyn,
I too will be praying for you. I hope its okay if I ask my Sunday school to pray as well. We’re a small group, only 5 of us but i hope even that little bit will help and be an encouragement.
May God Bless You and Keep You,
    Tiffany

  134. Rachel Vaillancourt Says:

i have just started reading the book “do hard things” today and i was stunned. i immeadetly realized i wanted to get involved…will u be hosting any conferences in Florida??

  135. Sarah King Says:

    Caitlyn,
I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother! I know it’s so hard to lose someone you love! She sounds like a fantastic woman! But remember that “ALL things work together for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified…..If God is for us, who can be against us?” Rom 8:28-31 Go read verses 37-39 too. Nothing in the world or outside the world can ever seperate you from the love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Read through 1 Peter too. It was written to many believers in the provinces of Rome during Nero’s terrible reign. Yet, they were called to rejoice in suffering. Do you know why? Because only through suffering could they be made more like Christ. Caitlyn, I don’t know you, and I don’t know the plans that God has for you and your life. But God does. He has brought you to this place to refine you. Sometimes He pulls the rug from beneath our feet so that we will stop standing on our own two feet and rest in His arms. Only there can true peace and contentment be found. I wish I could tell you things will be OK. But from reading the Word, and from personal experience, I can tell you that your life will have troubles in it. It’s part of living in a fallen world. But I can tell you that Jesus is right there with you. He will never leave or forsake you. He loves you with a perfect, undying love, and loved you with that love while you were still His enemy! Cling to Him. I know right now you are in pain. But whatever you do, seek the Lord and choose to praise Him through the storm. It’s such a blessed place to be. Trust me, I’ve been on both sides of the coin. First I turned away and almost seriously screwed up my life. Then the next time my life turned upside down, I chose to thank and praise God through it and it turned into a blessing I wouldn’t trade for the world! There’s always something to praise God for! Read 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. Even if our whole world looks bleak, think of the cross and what He did for you there! His grace there alone is so much more than we deserve! Praise Him for that. Praise Him for giving you such a wonderful grandmother who encouraged you in your walk with Him. When you are weak, that’s when Christ’s strength can be seen.
This is turning into a letter rather than a post, so I’ll go now. Please, let me know if there’s anything I can do to help you. I will pray for you. I have no clue where you live, but if it’s a ride you need this summer and you’re anywhere near Ohio or Indiana, maybe we can work something out. God bless!
    Your sister,
    Sarah

  136. Emmie Says:

I was at the last stop on the tour in Gaithersburg this summer, and it was simply amazing. I really hope to get to another conference this coming summer…hopefully the one in DC. Thank you both so much for serving many many teens by encouraging us to do hard things for His glory. Keep up the awesome work, and I pray God will continue to use you guys in uncountable ways!!!
    In Him,
    Emmie

  137. Emmie Says:

Oh, and do you have any possible idea dates for DC? If not that’s ok, I know it’s months away! :)

  138. Julia Says:

    Oh Caitlyn!!!

I just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you. I am so sorry about your grandmother. By the sounds of it, she was amazing. She must be praising Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior in the presence of the angels right now.
Christ *will* be faithful throughout this time of struggle. He has been, and will always be. As a child of God, He will be faithful to you and help you, and provide for you in your time of need. I’m so glad that you became a rebleutionary and joined here. I’m sure that you will love it. Your choice to participate in the rebelution is great, and one that you will not forget. Here is a fantastic community of believers who will lift you up and encourage you in your faith in Christ Jesus. I’m sure that you will get to a rebelution conference. Jesus will provide.

Remember Hebrews 4:16 - *Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.*

  139. Lissie luvs 2 pray Says:

    Caitlyn,
Im so sorry about your Grandmother I know how it feels to loose someone that holds the Family togather.I will be praying for you and your family in this hard time.Just keep Holding on and trusting in God because he wouldn’t do anything to us that we couldn’t handle.

    Elisabeth (Lissie)

  143. Jordan Whitmire Says:

SWEET! ATLANTA GA. OH YEAH! SO GOING TO BE THERE. I know a lot of places that the conference can be held. I know a lot of big Church’s as well. There is also this big building where they had the Catalyst Conference here in Atlanta this year that was wonderful for what you are trying to do. Its the Gwinnett Arena, at least that’s how I believe it is spelled. It can hold up to 3500 or more people I believe. So it would be prefect. I would love to help out in anyway I can.

Please let me know what I can do. I’m going to email Matt. So in the mean time I will be praying. I’m looking forward to it.

    In Christ

    Jordan

  144. Bethany Quinn Says:

i would absolutely love if you guys went to Chicago. I live in Michigan but I live about an hour and a half from Chicago. I know a lot of new rebelutionaries at my school that would love to help out. I would love to give my time this summer to help out in this way!

  145. Julia Says:

    Merry Christmas everyone! :-)

  146. Julia Says:

    Hey - I have a quick question.
Are the places that Alex and Brett are going for the conferences set in stone? There are places that haven’t been reached with a conference. There isn’t a conference going on ANYWHERE that is close to me!!! :(

  147. kiley hayes Says:

I told my dad about your tour-and it looks like i can make it to your southern california stop! i’m so excited to be apart of what you guys are doing for Christ-do you have any idea when you’ll be coming to CA???

    In Christ,

    kiley

  148. Sarah Pena Says:

    Caitlyn,

That is so wonderful about your mom! After I did my devotions today I was thinking about you and praying that the Lord would save your unsaved family. How little did I know that he had already started to answer it! :)

Keeping you always in my prayers,

    Sarah. :)

  149. Jordan Grace Says:

I want to help. I’ve read Do Hard Things and I’m amazed at how God’s using people my own age. I always knew God could use anyone, but seeing a substantial difference being made through high schoolers, and even middle schoolers is a huge fire ignitor for me. I want to be a witness in my own school, but I dont know where to start. I live in a teeny tiny town with only 120 people in my high school. I feel like im standing alone. There’s 3 or 4 other people that call themselves christians, but they don’t even act like it. I feel so discouraged, and then i see something like this going on; I want to be a part of it. I just need somewhere to start.. something specific that I can do.

  150. Emily Says:

Well, I think it’s great that you’re going new places, but it also makes me sad, because I won’t be able to come in 2009, since you aren’t coming to NC :(

  151. Monica T. Says:

I live in MD, so I would love to help with the D.C. 2009 conference! I had a wonderful time serving when the Rebelution was held at my church this past summer (Convenant Life Church), and I can’t wait to see what God is going to do with the conferences this year!

  152. Lindsey Campbell Says:

You have a team to helg you cordinate the event if you ever decide to come to Jacksonville, Florida.

  153. Michelle Says:

    Hello
I was so excited when I heard the tour will be coming to Atlanta. I wanted to go to the last tour but was very saddened when I found out that it had been over for quite some time. It’s amazing to me that someone’s actually fighting like this for us teenagers who sometimes feel helpless in a world who expects us to be nothing. I truly hope that I’ll be able to make it this time.

    In His Holy Name,
    Michelle

  154. Annabel ZAndi Says:

I live in So. California and I go to a church that wouldn’t fit that many people. I asked my mom if she could think of any churchs and she said that Saddleback and Calvry Chapel Costa Mesa would probably be able to fit that many people. Just some ideas. I would like to help if you need it.:)

  155. Sarah M. Says:

  166. Mike Says:

When will Northern New England (NH, The whole state of Maine) be a target for big youth ministry movements? They say it is the hardest place to spread the gospel, why don’t any of the big movements put their methods to the test and come up here and try?

  167. Michelle Says:

Most big things in Birmingham happen at the BJCC.

I’m hoping to attend if you’re close enough!

  170. Janai Fuentes Says:

Oh, and whoever mentioned Sommet Center in Nashville– I’m with you all the way on that one!!!!!! I LOVE that place!!!

Can’t wait ’til Birmingham, at any rate!

  180. Paige Burzlaff Says:
