A Letter to Parents from Gregg Harris
Need to talk to your parents about attending the conference tour this year? Our father has written a letter for you to share with them. Download the printable PDF version and respectfully ask your parents to read it. Don’t forget to draw their attention our “Pay-What-You-Can” policy mentioned at the end of the letter.

Thank you so much!, This letter is wonderful for those of us who have a harder time communicating with our parents.
I live in Southern California, and I would really love to go, but unfortunately I will not be on earth for the Orange County conference. Seriously, I will be flying back from Mississippi, in the air most of the day!
I will be praying for you guys and everyone who attends, and of course I will be there in spirit!
God Bless!

Thanks!
I’m sure my parents actually would love for me to go…but the cost of a hotel room, meals, and conference might be a bit too much for just one day. I just don’t know…

I love this idea! Thanks guys! Unfortunately I can’t go to the tour because I’ll be away all summer. But I LOVE that you guys and your dad took the time to do this.

What a great letter! I am going to send this to the parents of a freind of mine, since my parents already said that I could go.
Can’t wait to see you there Alex and Brett! You too Mr. Harris!

Thanks so much for doing this you guys! I have a hard time communicating with my parents. I’m working on it, but so far relaying my thoughts in an email to my mum is how far I’ve gotten. I think this would be great. Thanks again!
Be blessed,
Taylor

hey i just found this blog and i’m so excited! i worked on the prop 8 campaign in california, and i was so impressed by the young people using the internet and talking with their friends to spread the word about traditional marriage.
i’m young, out of college, but i’m so excited for this movement!
thank you!

This is great! I will be sure to pass along the news. I won’t be able to come. I am going to be doing mission work in Africa and Mexico this summer. But I sure will tell others! Thanks!

Sorry, I know this is off topic, but does anyone know of some other place where I could find the recording of the Itzel family singing the Do Hard Things song? For some reason my computer is blocking it.

Hey, guys! This is my first time on, but I have heard some of your stuff. The only thing I think is a little off, and my dad agrees, is this whole letter thing. I really don’t think that the kids should be taking this letter to the kids personally. If they’re going to it that way, then it should be in their own hand or they should be communicating. But, I do understand that some people live in hard homes. In a case like that you could have an email address form on which they could put their parents’ email address and then it would be straight from your dad to theirs. A lot of kids would read it first and use it to manipulate their parents. I’ve had friends’ mothers get me to ask if I can do something with their family, and trust me, my dad hates it. He prefers the parents coming to him first. Especially because I’m still only 16 (soon to be 17). Until next year I will still be under his ultimate authority. Even after that, my respect for him will keep me listening to his advice for a long time. I still admire what ya’ll are doing! Keep going! And may God bless you.

I don’t have some immaculate story to tell you guys about all the cool extraordinary things I’ve done quite frankly because i haven’t done anything at all. I was just wanting to let you guys know how much i appreciate that someone feels the same way and even if you don’t take the time to read this message i can know i tried. You guys have already given me strength to make it through my job you guys have planted a seed in my brain that will continue to grow and it will be there everyday for me to look back on and say you know what I’m not just 16 years old, I’m a somebody too. I just began reading your book and it brings tears to my eyes. Your book is inspiring and has lifted my spirit. Thank you for being the ones who believe you can make a change.
Sincerely,
Rae from Oklahoma.

BTW, I don’t really mean to sound critical. I REALLY am AMAZED at what ya’ll are doing. Like Rae, i don’t have a big success story, but that’s not what life is about. Life is living and living is about God, so it takes a life to touch a life. And ya’ll are two lives touching thousands, and doing a great job!:)

I just posted a review of your book “Do Hard Things” - http://thoughtsfromapauper.blogspot.com/2009/05/do-hard-things-by-alex-brett-harris-my.html
It was an awesome book! I am so grateful to both of you for taking such a strong stand for our generation!

I am enjoying reading “Do Hard Things” and I wish I could come to the conference this year but I am working as staff at a christian camp in CA over the tour dates so I’ll have to try for next year.

Here’s a random DHT story! I (yes, it’s about me;)) was behind in my math. If I worked hard enough I might have been able to finish part of my schoolwork (Pre-Algebra) a few weeks after our school year was supposed to be over. (By the way, I’m homeschooled)
I wasn’t too happy about this, so recently, I started waking up extra early and doing four lessons of Pre-Algebra a day! My limit had been two. And now, I’m done with math ahead of our break! I actually finished thearetically before I would have had I not been behind! YAY!!!!!!!!! I know, I know, it’s not that big, but I am feeling very proud of myself for doing the hard thing for me and getting that part of my work done early. Ok, I’m done waisting your time!

Alex,
My prayers will be with you, especially on Tuesday. I had my wisdom teeth removed last summer so I can empathize with you. Take care and God bless!

I’ll be praying for you Alex!! I’ve never had a tooth pulled, but I’ve had more root canals than I could count!! Once I get my wisdom teeth in, I’ll have to have them pulled, too.:(.

I’m currently reading your book, Do Hard Things. It’s really interesting and challenging. Thanks for writing the book. You’ve made me look at myself and look deep inside. In what ways am I just slacking or whatever? You’ve also made me look at the culture and see what it’s telling us. I’m homeschooled so I’ve never experienced public school or the things that come with it. I’m almost a teenager, not quite there yet. My birthday is soon. I’m definitely going to keep track of your blog and recommend the book to my friends. I think that many kids could and will be changed by this book. I’ll try to learn and grow after finishing the book. Keep up the good work and may God help you.

Will be praying for you about Tuesday!
