Alex and Brett: Livestream Video Presentation

Tomorrow afternoon Brett and I will be helping WaterBrook Multnomah test out a live video streaming presentation — and we’d love to have you join us. We’ll be talking about our new book (and the title we finally settled on), the conference tour this year, and a new idea about what it means to be a rebelutionary.

The presentation should last about ten minutes — and we’d appreciate your live feedback. The video stream will go live at 3:30 PM (EST) at the link below. When you click the link there will be a short advertisement before you are redirected.

  33. Sarah Peña Says:

Hi guys! Just finished watching it. Please do it again!

You really convicted me today. I haven’t been doing hard things with the right mindset. I need to focus on Christ and not on myself. Maybe the moto of the Rebelution should be “Do hard things for Christ’s glory” instead of just “Do hard things”.

    Thanks Brett and Alex.

    Sarah :)

  34. Khloe Says:

I can’t tell you how excited I am for the book to come out!!!! It sounds like just the thing that will encourage ‘Do Hard Things’ in my own life. Thanks for all of your hard work on it!

FYI… my feed was great, heard you the whole time. Hopefully that you can do it more often!! I’m praying for you!

  35. Gabriella Says:

Hi Alex and Brett! I just watched it and it was great! Do it again, please!

  36. Michaela Says:

That was great, guys! A little choppy at times, but still fantabulous! Do it again, please!

  37. Jenn Says:

I just finished watching. It was great to hear your thoughts!

Alex- I don’t know if you remember Alicia from the Louisville conference. ( we were the Iowans with Greg ) She was the one who wanted to make the behind the scenes video. A huge part of the reason she was interested in that was because of the making it clear that you should glorify God and not yourself.

I won’t go into major detail of why we think it would help because that would make a long wall post. =)

  38. Hannah G. Says:

Thanks for doing that guys,It really helped me to focus more on what God thinks than what others think when I do “hard” things.
Congrats on finding a excellent title in my opinion for your new book!!!
I look forward to reading it!!!!
    God bless

  39. Alesia Says:

  42. Kate Victoria Says:

    Hi!
Just wanted to let you know…it was terrific!
I liked the part about doing hard things for the right reason. You really convicted me there!
    PLEASE do it again!!!

  43. Christin A. Says:

Don’t worry Alex, we heard you all speak in the video. :) It worked well and we’re excited for the new book! Will keep you in our prayers.

  44. Laura L Says:

    Hi Alex and Brett,

I just wanted to let you know that the video was wonderful and very inspiring! I didn’t get to see it live, but I did watch it a few minutes ago… and look forward to the next one!

I love what you guys said about the verse that says “If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.” (1 Corinthians 15:19) I had never really wondered why we should be pitied. This was very thought provoking… and made me wonder if I really am living the way God intended Christians to live.

Also, the idea that there should eventually be Rebelutionary martyrs was incredible. I just read “Live Like a Jesus Freak” by DC Talk in the past couple days, and finished it about 45 minutes before I watched your video. This really is a message that needs to get out. I wonder if I really am living so passionately for God that others would have a problem with it… or would I be easily overlooked?

So anyway… thank you! I loved the video, love the blog, and really appreciate the chance to connect with other passionate young people through the Rebelution!

    Laura

  45. Tori TJ Says:

    Re-viewing instructions:

Hey everyone, I found out how to view the video if you missed it! Just go to the link in the post, and below the video are some buttons. Click on the one that says “on demand” and you can see it. Glad I figured it out, because I really wanted to see it but there was no way I could be on the computer at that time!

  46. Elizabeth Kelley Says:

Oh, thanks Tori! You just made my day. Totally forgot about it. :-D

  47. Elizabeth Kelley Says:

Wow. The bit that hit me hardest was that post from Katie. It’s so easy to Do Hard Things because we don’t want to be slackers. I’ve done it, and I’m sure I still do it.
Looking forward to the conference! Can’t wait for it! Thank you guys SO much for writing this next book! Praying for you guys. When’s the deadline for it?
I love how the background in the video is row after row of books. So fitting. :-D And, yes, we could hear you.

  48. Ruthanna Says:

I was in the middle of taking a school test all afternoon and totally forgot about the Livestream. Is there a way to get a recording?

  49. kayli Says:

Can’t find it… even using the link =<. Could you post it on your blog?

  50. Brandon Says:

you guys should do a post on the new book for all the people who missed it.

  51. Brandon Says:

for all of you who missed it, you can go back to the website, click the on demand link below the viewer and click on the thing that says “Alex and Brett Harris LIVE”

  52. Lauren Says:

I was glad to hear that you expect not just national recognition or magazine covers from rebelutionaries, but also, eventually, an ultimate display of dedication to Christ in martyrdom.

The most amazing worship service I have ever been privileged to be a part of took place two years ago in India. I was with a group of Bible translators, the vast majority of whom put their lives on the line every single day. It was the most amazing thing I have ever been a part of to see them grieve a friend and brother and coworker, recently martyred, all the while joyfully worshiping and recommitting themselves to God, that they might be ready to give their lives for His glory.

As for me, I want to live doing hard things, but I also want my death - whether in a nursing home or in a prison camp - to advance the gospel and bring glory to Christ for the sake of His Name and the growth of His Kingdom.

  53. dwayne Says:

well im so hapy to know that theres another book. Its a great thing to know that things in me are now clearer how I view things around me, I know that everything that involves in this planet needs a second thought for its not Christ. Im so very thankful that when I meet this book (Do Hard Things) change the way i view my everydays. Now i know that things thats hard for me needs a small step for God glory, through doing hard things I know that every step I make, God will leave a mark and whoever follows will be lightened by Gods grace. Now theres this new book, Im so excited how can I contribute more to this dying world, how this world needs a simple step for a Godly future. I have to say more but I have to go. God bless Alex and Brett..

  54. Christine T Says:

Great job guys! It sounded great, and was really inspiring! I like the title for the new book, too.
    I’ll see you in D.C.!

    Blessings,
    Christine

  55. Betsey K. Says:

Thank you SO much Alesia for posting that link!! I totally forgot about the broadcast until this morning. Thanks to that link I was able to watch it. The movement was a little jerky, but that’s probably just my VERY old computer. :-)

The new book sounds exactly like what I have been asking. I can’t wait for it to come out!!!

  56. Emily E. Says:

I really liked the video and definitely support the idea of doing the live streaming again in the future :)

I love the new title for your book!! Awesome job guys! I’ll be praying for your conferences and the finishing of your book :)

  57. Eleanor Says:

That was very informative. Thank you for writing this new book and for giving us some idea of what to look forward to. Thanks!

    God bless you,

    Eleanor V. B. H.

  58. Lissie Luvs 2 pray Says:

Thanks Alesia for putting that up there.
It was very good guys we all need talks like that to remind us of our reasons to do hard things not for our glory but for christ! Thanks and please do it agian

  59. Noella Says:

    Alex and Brett,

I watched the video and it was very good.

I kind of got teary-eyed when you mentioned that rebelutionaries should one day be martyrs for Jesus Christ. It’s true, we should. By daily dying to our flesh, we are practicing for the real tests of life when God may one day call us to sacrifice our very life.

I’m a reader of Voice of the Martyrs, Pursecution Blog, Gospel for Asia, and China Aid. The testimonies I read therein convict me of my lazy American Christianity. God forgive me.

I just wanted to let you know that you guys are a great encouragement to many people. So far I’ve given four DHT books as gifts to friends and family and 3 out of 4 have read them or are still reading them. If I could, I’d buy 100 DHT books and give them all away!

    Keep on keepin’ on!

    Because He Lives,

    Noella

  60. Elizabeth Kelley Says:

Hey! Good to know there’s another person who’s passionate about the persecuted church. (I mean, I know that those people are out there, and they can’t possibly be so far and in between as I sometimes think they are, but I don’t run into many people who talk about it, I guess.) It is convicting that people go to prison and get beaten, tortured, and killed, while we sit back and live in our comfortable Christian bubbles.

  61. Em Says:

ug. i can’t get the link to work :( whats the title of the new book?

  62. Jessica Mullen Says:

If I had to rate that video on a scale of 1-10, I’d rate it a twelve.

That’s an amazing update, ~everything~ you guys spoke about was so true and very exciting.
I hope there’s another broadcast in the near future.
Thanks for taking the time to do that..!
And thanks Alesia for the link..hopefully I’ll be able to be here when the next one airs.
    Thanks again!!
    Jessica

  63. Jordan Cruz Says:

I couldn’t watch it live, but I finally was able to watch it. (Thanks for the tip, Tori!) My browser had a couple of problems, but I switched to a different one, and it worked perfectly. I can’t wait for the new book to come out, it sounds amazing. Thanks for taking the time to do this, it means a lot to so many of us.

  64. Jaime Says:

Do u think u guys up load the video to the blog? I missed it :(

  65. Danielle Says:

I missed it also. I really hope you guys can load it on here.

  66. Elaine M. Says:

Awesome. I was so excited to hear about the book and it’s name it sounds great. I hope you do this again!

  67. Han Says:

Was a really great live stream. I didnt get to see it live but it was really useful to hear your thoughts about the new book, but also about being a rebelutionary. Its got me thinking alot as some of those questions Ive posed myself.

Great stuff guys. Keep pressing on! x

  68. Aravir Says:

The stack of books to the left of Brett’s head was tilted 4 degrees too far to the right. It made for a horrible live video viewing.

    JUST KIDDING
Actually in all truth now, I loved the video. I ended up watching it just a few minuted ago (at 4:30am) because I was unable to get the time to watch live on Thursday. Sound came through just fine for me. Reading feedback while streaming sounds both challenging (for your end) and wonderful (from ours). I’m hoping that will be an option soon explored. I’m also hoping I’ll be able to get there for the ‘live’ airing next time!!

I can’t wait for the companion book to come out. I just finished reading “Do Hard Things’ last month. It’s still sitting on my dresser actually and hasn’t made it to the bookshelf yet. (it might not!)

    By His Grace,
    Aravir

  69. Judith Says:

I am almost done watching! I think its cool and works well! thanks for releasing the title to the new book! I hope you do it again!!
