Chicago: Reilly Band at Rebelution Conference
Brett and I are excited to announce that Reilly will be helping to lead worship at the Chicago conference on July 11th. The band hails from Philadelphia and has garnered national attention for their unique violin-rock sound and spiritually rich lyrics — and the band members also serve regularly on the worship team at their local church.
Reilly has been one of Brett’s and my favorite independent Christian bands for the last few years. We’re pretty stoked to have them backing up our older brother Joel at one of our events. This is another first for the Rebelution conferences this year — along with the new interactive texting service we debuted in Louisville.
Whether you’re planning to attend the Chicago conference or not, be sure to check out Reilly’s music at their official site and on Facebook. The pre-registration pricing deadline for Chicago is this Saturday — prices will jump $5 per person after that.

Only Chicago? Bother. I like it! (The guitar is throwing me off a bit, but that’s probably me being picky.)

WOW! That is exciting!

I haven’t heard of this band before, but they’re pretty good. I like that they incorporate the violin in with the rock. I also like that they look like Christians. It bothers me a little how certain Christian bands look so secular. I guess they’re trying to reach out to secular society and I know you can’t judge by outward appearance, but it just hits me wrong. Anyway, I liked Reilly’s music and lyrics. I don’t exactly get the connection with the two boys to the song though. Maybe I’m just dense

Oh excelent music!
I’ve heard these guys a few times before and I think they are really good!
Praying that the Conference goes well in July and all the other ones this year and in the years to come!
God Bless you Brett and Alex

Oh! I am so excited!!! YAY!!! Very good music, I love it!

They have been a highlight of New Attitude/Next. They are very creative and inspired artists, not to mention the team at Vinegar Hill did an excellent job with this video. Inspired by Sigur Rós.
I wish I could have made it home to L’ville in time to go to the conference with my family. They all spoke very highly of it. It was super encouraging to them.

Too bad they’re only coming to the Chicago conference.
@Phillip: How do you “look” Christian? haha I’m assuming you mean not having tattoos, long hair stuff like that. :p

Cody: Understand that I’m not trying to judge any bands or say that they’re not really Christian based on how they look. What I’m saying is that it I don’t particularly like it. That’s just my opinion. What I meant when I said they look Christian is that they don’t look so secular, not that you have to look a certain way to be Christian or that you’re Christian if you look a certain way. In addition to what you mentioned I’d like to add stuff like odd and numerous piercings, gothic clothing, things like that. Long hair isn’t really something that I’d necessarily think of. There’s a danger of getting legalistic if you start making a bunch of rules about what you can and can’t look like. I’m not trying to do that. I think, however, that appearance is something that should be thought about. As Christians we’re called to be pure, holy, Christlike, etc. The question is does the way we present ourselves reflect that and honor God or does it reflect the values and evil in the culture around us. In conclusion, what matters is what’s on the inside and no you can’t really look Christian. Legalism about appearance doesn’t accomplish anything either. At the same time being Christian should impact every area of our lives, including how we present ourselves. There’s a fine line here and maybe I shouldn’t have said anything about it. But I did. I’ll leave it at that.
In Christ,
Phillip

Ah, they are so neat. I really love how they have incorporated the violin into it–and in that video, I loved how the one guy just whips out a violin and starts playing it as well! I had never heard of them before…but I think that I reallly like them now
June 30th, 2009 at 11:46 am
@Phillip: Aw, I’m sorry if my comment came out negative! I didn’t mean to be offending at all. I respect your opinion fully and agree with you 100% about how as Christians we should present ourselves in a way thats…respectable? Anyway, my apologies…I’m probably the one who shouldn’t have said anything. I don’t want to make it sound like I was starting a debate!
God Bless you and everyone who reads this,
Cody

Man! They came and lead worship for our church here in GA. They are really amazing. Could they come to the Alabama conference? Anyone going there?
June 30th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
I haven’t heard their music until now and they are awesome! I wish I could go to the Chicago conference, but we just left Chicago about a week ago. Hope it goes good! I’ll be praying for ya!
June 30th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
Praise God!!!Yay- I have been praying that God may lead me to a band with this kind of sound. I love rock, I love violin, and of course I love my Savior. I have not listened to them yet, but I am sooooo soked for the conference in Chicago. They sound like a great band filled with Christ-centered lyrics, VIOLIN, electric guitar, guitar, and piano.
ONLY TWO MORE WEEKS ‘TIL THE CONFERENCE!!!
Always in Christ,
Grace

Kate, you just missed them! They were at Alive Fest in Fulton Canal (or is it Canal Fulton?) about 2 weeks ago!
July 1st, 2009 at 2:33 pm
Do you think they’d be able to come to the DC conference as well, since it’s so close to home for them? I’ve seen them live twice, met them and know them, and they are AMAZING! Their faith really shines through in their music, as well as their lives. Whenever I get to see them it’s something to look forward to, a chance to see friends. I’m so excited to know that you guys are getting them out there with the stage that y’all have!
July 1st, 2009 at 4:50 pm
That was AWSOME! To bat it is only in DC.:-(

I was going to Chicago, but we moved a month earlier than we planned. Oh well.
July 2nd, 2009 at 3:43 pm
Wow, that is something… one of the best music videos I’ve ever seen. Really made me think.
Lord willing I will be at the Chicago conference. So I will get to hear these guys. Awesome.
I love the violins.
July 3rd, 2009 at 1:54 pm
AWESOME!! How in the world did you find these guys. HAve they been around long? Wished I’d heard of them earlier. Question: How do you guys (meaning Alex/Brett, or anyone that cares) view todays modern trend of music? My parents call modern rock “rebellious”. I like every style of music, but is their any particular music that God views as wrong? Is metal, rock, rap, punk rock, bluegrass, country, etc. wrong? Anyone got any answers? I play in a Hard Rock band, and enjoy it, so I could really use some help.

I thought the song was good and the video was absolutely beautiful, with some brilliant shots. But…like Philip, I’ve failed to understand what the story is with the boys that connects them to the song? If it hadn’t confused me, I would’ve said that’s one of the best music videos (Christian or secular) that I’ve seen.
July 5th, 2009 at 7:47 am
At first when I read the title I thought they were band from the Chicago conference but then I understood that they were playing at the conference! Silly me!
But I loved that song and music video!

*gaspeth* The Reilly Baaaaand!!! When I saw them on this post I was like “NO WAY!” but then I was sadly dissapointed when I found out they’re at the Chicago Conference. Sad day! I’m all the way over in California!
My family and I are watching them closely, we love their music so much and want them to come this way very badly.
So excited for you all who are going to the Chicago conference- download and buy their music and learn it!
It’s so worth it!!
July 7th, 2009 at 8:32 am
I’ll be sure to do that. If you read my post above I am really excited about hearing them because of their sound and values. I definitely want to buy their CD at the conference (if it will be there). Would you recommend the latest CD that will most likely be there? ONLY FOUR MORE DAYS TIL’ THE CONFERENCE!!!
Always in Christ,
Grace Leigh

that was different, i liked the violins and stuff…i’ll look their music up and listen to it(i thought it was funny how he kinda tried the switchfoot thing when he put his guitar behind his back-but that’s pretty random-nevermind:))

Iv’e never heard of the Reilly Band but I loved the video
I agree with Phillip I also don’t get what’s goining on with the two boys
(I do like how at the end the one boy helps the other one up after he knocks him down)
