Hey guys, it’s awesome to see teens uniting for a cause, but as great as buying this book is (please do!), prayer has even more of an impact. So, if anyone would just write out a prayer here (doesn’t have to be long), we can all pray for the impact of Start Here and the Book Bomb. I’ll start here. =)
Lord, I thank you that you’ve brought Christian teens together to make an impact on the world, and I pray that the Book Bomb will get the attention of the public, that they might see a different life in teens today. Whether #100 or #1, I pray that all we do will be for your glory and honor! Amen.

We pray that You will be glorified through Start Here and bring other teens alongside the Rebelution. Lord, I pray that this book bomb would be a success. But I do pray that Your will be done in all of this and that we would praise you whether or not we did reach #1. Most of all I pray that lives would be impacted by this and that souls would be saved. I pray that people would see us and see what we’re doing and find something different about us. Lord, I come today to say that I thank you for today. I thank you that you have given us all another day to live. Father, I ask that we don’t buy this book to “prove a point” or to “beat everyone else”. I ask that we buy this book because we believe in the impact it can have on our generation. Lord, I ask that you use this book to change lives and impact the world. I ask that you bless the Harris’ and I thank you that they have taken the time to write this book, and their earlier book, and really encouraged us to do things for You. Lord, I ask you go bless everybody involved in the book bomb today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I have a question: I was reading the prize rules stipulations, and realized I had not signed up for the book bomb. I was still planning on buying them today, but I didn’t sign up cuz I didn’t know how many. However, my friend was going to order a few, and she DID sign up for the book bomb. We were going to order five together and I was just going to order them so we wouldn’t have to pay for shipping and we could get the extra free book. Does the amazon email address need to be the same as the one she used to pladge to buy the books? Cuz I’m not sure if she has an amazon account…

This Book Bomb has been an amazing experience for me. When was the last time I woke up so excited? I cannot even remember! Not even on Christmas, as sad as that sounds. I’ve been Facebooking (yes, that is a word, why do you ask?) about it since the first day I heard. I doubt my “friends” (mostly family are my friends on FB, that’s why I put quotes around it) noticed much, but only God and them know. I talked to a couple of close friends about it personally, and one plans to discuss it with her youth group leader this morning when she’s in her church-organization’s offices. I talked to my group leader two Wednesdays back, and he plans on ordering a couple dozen today. At least, that’s what he told me and he put it on his calendar in his phone or something like that.
I’ve been so excited today, waiting on my dad to help me make an order. He cares about it because I do, but he’s a little lost on my excitement. I think most of my family is. Heh. It’s kind of funny. I was excitedly rambling on about the ranking this morning, the ranking last time I checked a few days ago, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. My dad gave me a blank-esque look. Yeah, a bit lost on him, but I’m still excited anyway.
Ever heard the expression “no snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible”? The thing about that is, while none feel responsible, every last flake is responsible. And…while I may just be one snowflake in a huge avalanche, I know I am as responsible as everyone else is in this. That’s an exciting feeling. Anyone agree? Whether we make it to #1 or not, we’ve already made a huge impact — last time I looked at the ranking, sometime Sunday, we were in some rank in the 5,700+ and we’ve come a long way.
So my prayer is…
Our gracious Lord, we thank You for this wonderful opportunity to be a part of this amazing experience, Father. It is edifying and gratifying in that it inspires and encourages us to see what kind of impact we can make, that while we may be one teeny pebble in a giant rockslide, we are just as responsible and part of it as the biggest boulder in this movement. If we make #1, we will praise You, and if we don’t, we will praise You. Make it or not, all glory, praise, and thanksgiving goes to You, Father, for You are worthy. Let us remember that no matter how the day ends, there has been wonderful things accomplished because we did it for You, because Your will, which is good, pleasing, and perfect, has been done in our lives and we are willing and glad to let it be done, no matter what it is. We ask for Your blessings, and we will praise You even if they aren’t the blessings we expected or thought would come. You know our hearts, Lord, that it is our desire for this to be a success, and by “success” I mean #1 slot and new thousands exposed to its message, and that it is our hope for that blessing and will from You, Father. But whatever the end may be, let us learn to measure success how You do, and see this from Your perspective, the success of today. We pray for You to smile on us, Lord, and bless us, even if it is unexpected or different from we desired or thought would come, and help us to recognise what You see in this. We pray for #1, but we will praise and bless and glorify You for whatever blessing You give us. Your will, not ours, be done! May we praise and give thanks for the fulfillment of Your will. So be it!

I just want to comment on the obvious…
When you order 10 or more copies, yes, you’re paying $87.60 total with the free shipping deal and no tax. I know as a teen, that’s a lot of money to commit. But think of it this way: on top of receiving 33% off already, you’re also receiving a T-shirt ($15), and a Conference ticket ($30-$40), a signed copy (priceless!) - that’s total of $45-$55 savings making the 10 books only $42.60! After placing my order 5 minutes ago, I checked out the Bestellers list to see the book at #36. While scrolling through, I happened to notice that Twilight: Breaking Dawn is #27 on the list. How cool would it be if ‘Start Here’ went even farther than that?! What if more and more teens realize that doing hard things for Jesus is far more satisfying than books about vampires?

ahh I see - I was at co-op today (I’m homeschooled) and didn’t get home untill later - it’s 9:06 here and I live in north eastern PA. What’s the highest that it’s gone up? Mine says 22 ………..

that’s a bummer - I’ve switched once. the first one was o.k. — it was more of an enrichment program, and it was based on fun stuff. but nobody really accepted me, which was really hard, ’cause I had just been diagnose with Lyme Disease. Now we have switched (I’m completely healed, PRAISE GOD) to a highly academic program that goes a little over the top once in a while

Hey! I ordered 5 copies and then an yet another Do Hard Things while I was at it. I ordered from Amazon.ca. I hope that still contributes to the Book Bomb. It should. I think. Anyway, I am very much looking forward to reading it, and getting it into the hands of others. One of the hardest things for me was where to start. Now my life overflows with doing hard things, much of which have been hugely influenced by the Rebelution. Start Here, I believe, is an answer to prayer for many in our generation. Awesome! It is pretty easy to cancel your order atleast from the Amazon.com website. You can go to
Your Account > Your Orders - Not Yet Shipped - Available Actions (atleast on Amazon.com I was able to cancel my order with no fees or anything since the book hadn’t shipped yet! - I some how accidently ordered one book instead of three so I cancelled my order to go back and make that change)

Wow! God, you are SOOO awesome!!!! We praise you and thank You for giving us such an amazing opportunity to spread Your truth and the Do Hard Things message even farther than it’s ever been! Thank You for Alex, Brett, and all of the other rebelutionaries that are so dedicated to doing hard things for You and for being passionate about spreading the word.
I pray that You would use this book, Start Here, as encouragement, inspiration, and motivation for our generation as we find out that there’s a bunch more to life than what we’re told. Bless everyone that reads it’s pages and spark a fire in them for You that cannot be contained.
Continue to use our generation of young people. Remind us everyday that our lives are a mist. There isn’t much time! Sometimes the going gets tough, especially for us rebelutionaries. But when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Help us get going, Lord. Strengthen our walks with You everyday and help us to not be afraid to shout it out to the world everyday that You’re alive! You’re the only way and the world needs to know that. Use us to tell them, Lord.

This is going to sound rude, I know. But I’m confused. To me, this sounds like just another way to get people to buy your books. Yes, getting number 15 on Amazon will spread the word of the Rebelution, but even that spreading the word seems like a way to sell more books. And then tickets. And the t-shirts. And then more tickets to new conferences. Organising a large number of people to buy a book on a predetermined day and rewarding the people who buy the most sounds wrong to me.
Honestly, I think the premise of the Rebelution is great. Fantastic, actually. But the execution scares me. It looks more like a money-making enterprise than anything else, and the Book Bombs are only making me more skeptical. Please, please explain to me why I’m wrong.

Well Lia, the Harris guys aren’t Bob Dillan or the Jonas Bros. or Miley Cirus. They are ordinary guys who are generous. And with the econemy the way it is don’t you think that it is nice to give tickets or T-shirts or what ever to kids who coundn’t buy the book but got other to promote it? They aren’t rich (so I’ve heard). Do you have a better way to spread the word? If so I would love to hear it!

I don’t know if you have done so but on the Start Here Book Bomb page (the page here on therebelution.com) Alex and Brett have posted this:
“OUR COMMITMENT: Whatever number of books are purchased for the Amazon.com Book Bomb on February 23rd, we will set aside that same number of books to give away to anyone who cannot afford one. We will also make them available to other ministries and organizations for free distribution.”
Someone has to promote a book in order for it to become widespread and popular, and I believe that it takes a lot on Alex and Brett’s part to step out and do whatever they can to promote it. Obviously what they have done can be taken the wrong way but isn’t it better to risk being misunderstood in order to get out the message God has given you to share? The idea of a book bomb is that if you can make it near the top of the list then Amazon will advertise for you for free, they automatically list the top books.

Hm. I see what you are saying, but why did people have to buy the book for the Harrises to give the book away? Wouldn’t the hard thing be to give a certain number of books away without encouraging other people to buy multiple copies? I understand the whole Amazon-free-advertising, but it isn’t truly free. You’re paying for it with the books you’re buying. I’m pretty sure that’s circular reasoning.

I just thought I’d add, that it does cost a lot of money to publish a book. It would be hard to give away 1200+ copies, without selling at least that many. You would probably end up either just barely breaking even, or getting just a little bit of money for the time it took to write it.
And most everybody who participated in the book bomb, would probably buy about that many books anyhow.

In additon to what Esther said, look at this example. I may not be able to afford 10 copies but the person whom I may tell may be a millionare and they can easilly buy 10 copies.
And people (poor people) will always have kids who need to be Rebelutionized and buying extra copies will enable you to help them spiritually. Who knows, you might even save a life! (I haven’t seen that movie but most kids I know have so I don’t even need to watch it! They have told me so much about it!) But hey, who am I?
