Are You Dug Down Deep?
In the spirit of posting about books and cool videos about books, here is a very cool video about a book we wish every rebelutionary would read — our brother Josh’s latest book, Dug Down Deep. A lot of you have read and been impacted by his other books — but there is something even more life-changing about this one.
Here is what we wrote about Dug Down Deep after we first read it:
“As two young guys who have been deeply blessed and influenced by Josh’s books and example, we couldn’t be more excited about Dug Down Deep and how God is going to use it to transform a generation. It’s a gripping and honest read. In it we learned things about our older brother that we had never, in twenty-one years, been told before! More importantly, we learned things about our Savior that caused us to fall more deeply in love with him and his Word. Get this book. Read it. And join us on a journey to rediscover what has always been true.” — Alex and Brett Harris

How exciting! I’ll be sure to look into, especially seeing that I have enjoyed the books of Josh Harris in the past. (:

Cool! Sounds intriguing and very thought provoking.
I will definitely look into this book.

Another fantastic-looking book that I want to read some day. *goes and updates Amazon wishlist*
I really loved “I Kissed Dating Goodbye”, and “Sex is Not the Problem (Lust is)” is on my reading list. I was so encouraged just reading about “Dug Down Deep” on Josh Harris’ blog that I was inspired to write a verse for a worship song based on my thoughts afterwards.

Thanks for posting this–I’ve been meaning to read some of his books but haven’t known where to start…this sounds like a good place!

I really want to read this book, but am on a strict budget right now
Oh well! I’m sure I’ll be able to get it just at the right time! I’ve been able to read a couple excerpts from it and reviews of it, all of which have been great. Looking forward to reading it myself one of these days

I read Dug Down Deep at a bookstore. I loved it! I may get it when I have the money!
March 19th, 2010 at 3:10 pm
I cannot wait to read it.
It is the BEST!
And also, I absolutely LOVE this video!!!

WOW!! I really want to get this book!!! Again, WOW! Studying the truth about God is something so many people seem to skip over. My dad is a pastor and he has always taught my family that the truth is more important than anything (about God, our beliefs, culture, politics… everything!). I’m sure both of my parents will want to read this book as well. Can’t wait!!!
God bless!!!

This book looks great. I love reading things that make me think deeper. I recently finished one of Josh’s books and after this excerpt i’m definitely going to have to increase my collection!

Great book!!!

I would really like to read this book! I’m pretty interested on it! I think that it’s very important to know God personally & really know how God thinks & how He shapes us, even when we don’t notice it. I’m in the praise team at church, & recently I read this on my Bible:
I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments. (Psalm 119.7)
And I started thinking “How can I know that I’ve learned thy righteous judgments?”. So I believe that this book can help us to learn –> to learn Thy righteous judgments. When we start knowing Him, we start to see Him everywhere. Even the “little” things we live are in God’s control & sovereign purpose. This is how we can know God, stand in awe of whom He is :D, being hungry of His word, presence, & voice, and so praise Him (:
SOLI DEO GLORIA! (:

But it’s sad that libraries don’t have it yet in MX

I noticed that the scribe in this video made a scribal error, leaving out the third word (it should read “ΕΝ ΑΡΧΗ ΗΝ Ο ΛΟΓΟΣ”). Not to mention that some of the gammas were written as digammas.
All in all, though, good video!

Wow! dug down deep: unearthing what i believe and why it matters…..looks to be an effective tool.
When you go to the amazon.com to order…there’s another video with a Josh voice over about the book. It’s worth watching too. ;D

Sounds great. Awesome video!

What a cool video! Since I used to teach second grade, I really, really wanted to help this guy with the way he holds his pencil. He was probably one of those little guys with a mind of his own– and now he’s using that strength of character to make God’s name great.
Thanks for your ministry. Your family has greatly impacted mine!

I’m currently reading this book and it’s already made a difference in the way that I view theology, God, and my faith. God has used Josh’s books to really impact my life, and I have to say, this book came out just when I needed it! I would HIGHLY recommend it to everyone.

I bought my copy a few weeks ago. I browsed through it at the bookstore and read a couple of chapters - my heart was beating faster and I felt an urgent thirst and love for God. (That’s all I need in a book - truth that causes me to love God more.) I knew then that I HAD to get this, could not wait for the local reprint (Philippines). I hope lots of people will read this and be blessed. My copy will be doing its rounds among my friends once I’m finished with it.
I love the story about your dad, btw.

I do have a question: What theology does this book teach? Calvinism? or ……….?
Just wondering — thanks

wow great video! My dad is always stressing the importance of theology…so this book sounds great!! Thanks so much for sharing!

Hey I agree! Theology matters; because you can mess eeverything up if you don’t know God.
March 21st, 2010 at 12:06 pm
Abby-
I think the book is written from a Calvinist perspective, but not adamantly or centrally…
March 21st, 2010 at 2:31 pm
Just ordered Dug Down Deep from the library - can’t wait to read it!!! Thanks for letting me know about it!!
March 21st, 2010 at 4:24 pm
Left me speechless…I’ll have to see if my church’s bookstore has it; if not, I’m off to Amazon! Thanks, guys.

HALLELUJAH! Kudos for your bro for Calvinism
thanx Jennifer — and I agree with others on here - Theology does matter.
I recently read a book on the subject of Calvinism and it has changed my thinking.
thanks again!

Guys, I’ve read part of I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Josh and Boy Meets Girl. I have also read Do Hard Things…in fact I am re-reading it for the second time right now. I just wanted to say thank you, Harris family; for all you do. From everything like “The 21 Rules of This House” to “Do Hard Things”……it’s all incredible. You guys have my blessing, and the Lord’s also. Thank you for following Him. May He keep you in His word. Thank you for the book.

My mom got Dug Down Deep for me a few weeks ago — she happened to notice it on the “new releases” shelf. Incredible book! It’s a lot to read and take in, but so worth it! I actually couldn’t put it down it was so interesting.
You need to buy and read this book — it will be one of the most worthwhile $20 you ever spend!

Looks like a great book! I’d really like to read this one.

This looks amazing-
One thing that I’ve come to relize: we can worship God not only in Church, or in our devotions, but 24/7: if I’m working on Algebra, I AM worshiping my God, because He created it, and to use my gifts {to understand what He’s given to me} IS honoring and glorifying the Father’s Name…. Everything you do today-whether its school, music, or just cleaning up after dinner-if its done with unselfish motives to serve others and to worship God in whatever you do- He sees that, and yes…He takes note.

I totally want to read this!! In order to be a good witness for Christ, we need to have an answer for the scientific theories and myths the world throws at us. We as Christians need to realize and make known that Christianity is not a religion that we believe in because we cannot answer questions like, “how was the world created?” or “what happens when we die?” and “what is our purpose in life?” with facts.
