Tour 2010: Photo Recap and Your Memories

What an amazing conference tour we had this summer. A total of 7 conferences, 9,400 attendees, and nearly 1,000 professions of faith. Soli Deo gloria!

This year was also a year of joyful and tearful firsts. It was our first time hosting conferences outside the United States (in Surrey, BC and Edmonton, AB), our first time presenting our dad’s gospel session, our first time having our brother Josh speak on the tour (in Atlanta, Nashville, and DC) — and our first time without our incredible mother to cheer us on. But the overwhelming emotion is joy.

God is good. God is sovereign. God is faithful.

We could share dozens of stories of how He reminded us of those truths, but what we really want is to hear from you. Did you attend a Rebelution conference this year? How did it impact you? Leave a comment and share your story.

Whether you attended or not, click through for a photo recap of the 2010 tour.

Our awesome team in Phoenix knew how to get the word out!

Great local teen publicity teams = crowded lobbies!

Filling out name tags at the Hylton Memorial Chapel in Woodbridge, VA.

What is better than DHT t-shirts and goofy ties? Yummy snacks, that’s what!

A generation waking up to Christ’s glorious call on their lives.

Praying with and for new believers.

Great pictures!! They make the memories come flooding back. I was at the St. Louis conference and enjoyed it thoroughly. I believe it strengthened me in my faith and brought me closer to God. Tears filled my eyes as I watched newfound beleivers take their stand for Christ. To those who have not been to a Do Hard Things conference, I very much reccomend it. Thanks Alex and Brett. Please don’t ever stop doing what you do.

  2. Abby Says:

Wonderful pics! I really want to make it to a conference ASAP! but I live in rural PA - and it’s a bit of a treck to any of the conferences. So I’m just praying that y’all will come a bit more northern :)

I wasn’t able to go this year, but went to the Alabama confernce last year. Those pictures bring back a lot of memories! I was with one of my friends from church when she became a new believer at the same conference. Thank you, Alex and Brett, for doing these every year; they are such a challenge to today’s generation of pre-teens and teenagers.

I was at the St.Louis conference and was shown God’s sovereignty and unexpected plans and His amazing grace. It was amazing and encouraging to see other teens serious about Christ and His mission. To hear the humble prayers and seeing them answered all day was faith building. Thank you guys for continuing through your hard things. Many people were blessed :)
    Praying for you guys.

  9. Sarah Says:

I was at the Surrey, BC conference. Thank you so much for coming to Canada! (We need great teaching to reach us here, too, and we’re so glad that you chose to come.) The conference had a great impact on families from our church, a few of our church’s elders who attendend, and on my family! We really appreciated how you all were so friendly and kind to us and willing to talk with us! I feel like I made dear friends (and we are brothers and sisters in Christ!)

May our God continue to uphold you in His strength. Know that we continue to pray for you in light of your mother’s passing. We know that this is difficult, but we are encouraged to see you resting in the goodness, sovereignty, and faithfulness of Jesus Christ.

Lord-willing, we would love to see you back in Canada in the near future!

    Blessings, Sarah

  12. Tabitha Hems Says:

I had the pleasure of attending my very first live conference in Phoenix, and filling in as the Prayer Team Captain. More than anything I experienced the power of prayer and the joy of witnessing a message that changed my life from one of complacency and mediocrity to a blazing furnace for Christ do the same work in other young people. It was a joy to meet you, Alex, Brett, and Courtney. I realized through doing so that the message of rebelling against low expectations that you have committed your time and energy to is powerful, whether in person, print, web, video, or through the power of prayer.

God bless you this next year as you do all for His glory.

    ~Tabitha

  13. Noelle Says:

I came to the D.C. (Woodbridge) conference with my younger brother and some friends. It was without doubt a life-changing event. I don’t think any of us had ever been so moved before seeing so many young people make bold declarations of a newfound faith in Christ. In the time after the invitation, two of my friends and I went and sat on the edge of the stage and prayed. When we got back up, two more girls we didn’t know came to us and asked if we could pray together. I realized that here were two young women I’d never met and would probably never see again, but we were bound together by our love for Christ and will meet again in Heaven.

We were so touched to see you both in person and realize that the Rebelution is not a bandwagon but a call to live, an exposure of truth. Your genuineness and authenticity is a true blessing and an inspiration. Thank you.

Hopefully I’ll see you again next year!

    Noelle

  14. Adrienne Says:

I’d love to go to one next year. Ever thought about coming to San Antonio, TX?

  15. Mary Says:

Came to the conference in Atlanta, it was AWESOME, and I still have snippets come back to me at random moments. My 12 year old son turned to and trusted Jesus here, a day I will not forget!!!

  16. Brittany Siburg Says:

I attended the Scottsdale one at Scottsdale Bible Church. This book and conference changed my life. I will never be the same because of what God has done in Alex and Brett’s lives.

  17. Lissie Says:

Oh please come to the North west next year!

  18. Tatum Says:

Are you having another conference next year? My friends and I would love to go! We went to a conference last year called Dare to Share, and it was LIFE CHANGING!! Your book has inspired us so much. Thank you guys for everything your doing!

  19. Dakota Says:

Hey guys! You might remember me from the St. Louis Conferece. I was your Prayer Team captain. That Conference was absolutely amazing, and a day that I will remember for the rest of my life. When nearly 200 teens stood up with tears in their eyes and proclaimed “Jesus Christ is Lord!”, I sat it my seat with tears streaming down my face knowing that God was answering the prayers of the entire team right before our eyes. It was above and beyond anything I expected. I could definitely feel the anointing of God upon you guys as you delivered the message of the Rebelution, and I know that I myself went away with a renewed zeal for God. Thank you guys for coming to ST. Louis, and I hope you can fit it into you schedule to come back some day.

  20. Rebecca Says:

I loved the DC conference! I will never forget it!

  21. Mike Says:

I would love to go to a conference… they sound amazing. I loved the books and the articles on this website are awesome

  22. Alesha Says:

I’m filled with joy from seeing all that God has done through the Rebelution tour this year. Unfortunately, there was not a conference close enough to me for me to attend, but that was alright. I attended the 2009 Chicago conference and brought some friends (and their moms) along - we all left with an even stronger passion for God.

Reading your book changed my life a few years ago but seeing my fellow God-lover friends’ lives totally changed after that conference made me so happy. (One told me that she had honestly thought the conference was going to be kind of lame but had a life-changing experience instead! She’s now my 1st go-to girl for big, do hard things ideas!)
They all left with books and t-shirts and a heart set on sharing the DHT message with others!
A group of rebelutionary friends and I are hoping to host a DVD conference next summer - we definitely have plenty of teens in our area - and are praying for God’s guidance and provision. It’s a leap of faith for all of us but we believe that it’s something God wants us to do and it would benefit so many teenagers in our area. Since none of us have much of an income, we’re leaning totally on God for what we need and know that He’ll come through for us in His perfect time. Support through prayer is appreciated!

Thanks guys, for all you let God accomplish through your lives! He is truly awesome!

    In Christ,
    ~Alesha

  24. Sarah Beth Says:

My parents, two friends, and I attended the conference in Atlanta. It was life changing. I had read the books (which rocked my world), but hearing all of this information in person really drove it home. Thank you guys for all you do. I hope to get to come again next year.

    Sarah

  25. Sarah L. Says:

I’ve never been to a conference (or even read your book! I know. :shame:) but I’ve been following your blog for… oh… four years now (via a link to the modesty survey!!!) and want to tell you how very fond I am of The Rebelution. You have long been an encouragement to me - you are in my prayers- I am thankful to have brothers who are such wonderful witnesses for Christ.

God bless you and keep you both-

    Linda

  29. Sarah Says:

    Alex and Brett,
I was at the Nashville conference…you might remember me. I was the one that had you sign on the front cover of my DHT book. ;) I really enjoyed your conference. The only thing I would recommend is that you read my suggestion that I PMed you on the forums…its kinda long to write out. Other than that, I really enjoyed your conference. I was there with just my mom.
    Keep doing hard things!

Wish I could’ve gone! It looks AMAZING! Keep up the good work, guys! Know that you are continually in our prayers!

  31. Laura H Says:

How cool! I’ve been wanting to go to a conference for ages, but the dates never work out for me. Aah well. It looks like a wonderful, wonderful time. I literally got tears in my eyes when I saw the new Christians praying together. I’ll probably never meet them this side of heaven, but I am definitely praying for them and cheering them on!

  32. Myra S. Says:

I was privileged to attend the St. Louis conference and to be on the prayer team, and I know that it is an experience which I will never forget. The Lord used being on the prayer team to draw me closer to Him in my personal prayer life, which was something I was desperately in need of, but without the weight of a conference on my shoulders, I wouldn’t have ever taken action on.
The conference was a wonderful experience and I am so glad that I was able to go! Thank you so much for coming to St. Louis. I will never, ever forget the Gospel session. It was a little glimpse of just how powerful God is.

  33. Katelyn Says:

I attended the conferance in D.C. it was SO AWESOME! ! ! (it was our first) I went with a couple friends, my brother and parents. we were the ones in tie-dye T-shirts :) one of the girls in our group was excited because her cousin is Abby Maricle who apparently goes to college with you.
the conferance was REALLY amazing. It has continued to encourage me just by seeing my friends really get into the “rebelution movement” I already can’t wait for next year and my dad (who is a youth pastor) is trying to see how we can get multiple youth groups to go with us!
the best part had to be seeing/ hearing everyone stand up and say “Jesus Christ is Lord” and then singing “Jesus Paid it All” awesome song!
hopefuly next year you’ll have one a little closer to me so I can help out!

  34. Katelyn Says:

IDK if you’ll ever read this but HI FRIENDS FROM PHILLY! ! ! I’m one of your “friends from jersey!” if your part of the forums pm me (Katelyn Hill)

  37. Valerie Elizabeth Says:

    Alex and Brett,
I along with Sarah Beth (already commented) went to your conference in Atlanta. You might remember me since I had the “cool, orange pen” ? Anyway, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I was already a Christian, but this conference gave me hope and fire. You guys helped me remember why I fell in love with God in the first place. Your books are inspirational and your message is powerful. Thank you so much for all that you are doing to reach a lost world.
    - - Valerie Elizabeth

  38. Sarah Says:

Sadly, I live in Australia so attending a DHT conference is not an option. I am very excited for the day it comes “down under!”

  39. anonymous Says:

-sigh- I know god is there, but he doesn’t seem to be listening to me. My life is awful and everyone says “trust God and it’ll be alright” and I try and try, yet I see no improvement! :-( -sigh- I’m discouraged.

  42. Annie Says:

Wow!! Praise God! He is amazing! I didn’t have the opportunity of attending a conference because I don’t live anywhere close to where they were held. Thank you for sharing the photos and the stories :D

  43. Haley Says:

I was at that conference!! It was amazing, and I was moved to go forward, thanks to Brett. I was sitting there wondering how I could not be a Christian and thinking that even if I did not stand up that no one would know that I wasn’t a Christian. Then Brett said, ‘if you can not stand up with people who had to sit on there hands so as not to clap for you, then you are not going to be able to you stand up if front of people that are going to make fun of you.’ That really touched my heart and I stood up. I was so glad that I did! I felt so filled with the Holy Spirit!

Thanks, Alex and Brett for the awesome conference, it was the best thing that happened to me this summer.

    God Bless

    Dear Anonymous,

I’m so sorry you’re hitting a rough spot in your life. God tells us that He will always be there with us, but He never promises us that our lives will be easy. Please take comfort in the fact that, even though you may not feel Him there, the Lord truly is with you. Keep praying. Keep reading your Bible. Lean on your brothers and sisters in Christ for support for that is what the family of Christ is for. I pray that God will comfort you in this difficult time.

    With love,
    Your sister in Christ

  50. Alexa Says:

I attended the St. Louis conference and it was amazing! It challenged me to examine myself and see if I was really using all that God has blessed me with. It also challenged me to go outside my comfort zone and do whatever God has called me to do.
There was also a test of faith that made me think about my relationship with God, whether I was doing it with my whole heart, or doing it simply out of habit or duty. It definitely made me look at myself and my motives! The worship also really blessed me. I could feel God’s presence throughout the whole conference but especially through the singing. Joel did a great job of directing our attention to God. I also loved the songs he chose!!
I Pray our generation would be the generation to do hard things and to stand up for what’s right no matter the cost!

  51. Bex Says:

Oh I wanted to come to one of your conferences this year!!! I went to the DC one last year (and got to help with the booktables!!), and still talk about it!!! You both have blessed my life so, so much. Thank you for all you do - may the Lord bless you and keep you!!

  52. LindsayKS Says:

Awesome to see what you guys have seen all year. I went to your conference in Indianapolis several years back, and haven’t been able to make it to another yet. I know that Chicago is close, but I’d appreciate another stop in IN sometime. I guess gas $ is the issue for a lot of people, and I really can’t imagine a place needing your message more. Please consider Indy again! Hoosier teens need you guys!

  53. LindsayKS Says:

P.S. If you want to come to IN, I’d be glad to help out with the conference anyway I can!

The conference was revitalizing and eye-opening and I feel privileged to have been forced (yes, our school made everyone attend) to go. I also read your guys’s book and it’s made a huge impact on me! I don’t mean to open an old wound, but I can relate with your family. My Mom just got diagnosed with cancer this week, and we are all extremely sad. But God knows what will happen, He’ll take care of us. Please know that your dad’s strength and faith in God has really encouraged us through this time of trial. Please pray for my mom.

For you, the Bible defines what true marriage is. Our country was set up so that religious bigots could not impose their ideas of morality on others. I dont care about your Dead Sea scrolls. They are meaningful to you and you are welcome to your beliefs. From where do you find the right to legislate to others how to live? Your truth is not my truth. I find your beliefs repugnant but I respect your right to have them and practice your religion and live your life as you choose. Why is this so difficult for you to understand?
