Men O’ War: An Epic Tale on a Sea of Foaming LEGOs

During our coverage of the Christian Filmmakers Academy earlier this month, we used production screenshots and a teaser trailer to introduce our readers to the short film Men O’ War. Written, storyboarded, modeled, animated, and scored entirely by the Botkin siblings, this film was a big hit among academy students.

We’re excited to announce that the film, in its entirety, is now available in multiple formats online, through Isaac Botkin’s blog Outside Hollywood.

This four-minute animated short is more than just entertaining. It is a wonderful example of the three pillars of the Rebelution in action. The Botkins are a testimony to the effectiveness of a God-fearing, capable, and tight-knit family.

Stephen Kendrick: A Message to Rebelutionaries

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

One of the highlights of the film academy and film festival for Brett and me was getting to spend time with Stephen Kendrick, co-writer and producer of the great film Facing the Giants, in theaters now.

We were blessed with the opportunity to speak with Mr. Kendrick several times to get his input on the Rebelution movement and we wanted to share some of it with our readers. Here is a short message he recorded for all of you.

Mr. Kendrick’s passion for the gospel is contagious and his committment to excellence is exemplary. God has blessed that integrity. The film broke $5.2 million this past weekend at the box office. It’s budget was only $100,000.

Stop Motion - Wars of Humanity II: Price of Rebellion

One of the disappointments for Brett and me this weekend was when we missed the screenings of the LEGO stop motion animation movie Wars of Humanity II: Price of Rebellion by Anthony and Jessica Rondina, along with Nathan Brown — telling the Bible story of the Israelites in the wilderness. Thankfully, Anthony and Jessica were kind enough to give us a DVD of the 24-minute film.

We are always blown away by the incredible amount of work that goes into stop motion animation. It was particularly so in this film, which incorporated many scenes with 40+ LEGO characters moving simultaneously. The charm of the stop motion added to Anthony and Jessica’s great sense of humor made it a thoroughly enjoyable sequel to their debut at the festival last year.

We’re looking forward to their third and final installment… The story of Jericho.
