WHAT IS A DVD CONFERENCE?

The Do Hard Things DVD Conference is an event by teens for teens, with parents, youth pastors, and pastors standing behind their young people. Every aspect of the event is designed to give teens the same opportunity to "do hard things" and "rebel against low expectations" that local teams have in hosting a live Rebelution conferences: assigning team captains, recruiting volunteers, securing a facility, spreading the word, and seeing God work in their own lives and in their community. The DVD Conference is a perfect project for a youth group, a Christian Jr. High or High School club, or any rebelutionaries looking for a "hard thing" to tackle together.

WHAT MAKES THIS A FUND-RAISER?

The DVD Conference is unique in its goal to serve as both a training ground for its teen hosts and an investment in their future projects. That's why a portion of all registrations are invested back into you and your team. Every Host Team receives a minimum of 30 percent of registration fees and 100 percent of proceeds from the refreshments table. Events exceeding 150 attendees receive 40 percent of registration. Events exceeding 300 attendees receive 50 percent!

EVENT SIZEPERCENTAGEYOU RAISE
100 attendees30 percent$650
200 attendees40 percent$1,600
300 attendees50 percent$2,850
* Based on registration and refreshment table proceeds (at $2 per person).

Note: Our goal is to support activities that would fall under non-profit charitable status. Funds should not go to individuals or families for personal use. We recommend that you and your team identify and agree on the project you are raising funds for at the beginning. This will motivate you as you work to promote the event and allow others to know how their support or attendance will serve as a springboard for that endeavor.

HOW LONG? HOW MUCH? HOW BIG?

A DVD Conference requires a time commitment of at least 6 weeks for preparation and publicity, but higher attendance can be achieved with a few additional weeks. We recommend an 8 to 12 week timeline for best results. Registration pricing deadlines will typically be placed at the 6 weeks, 1 week, and on the day of the event. Rates for DVD Conferences start at $10 per person and jump $5 at each deadline. Events average around 200-300 attendees per event, but don't be afraid to aim for a bigger turnout -- and don't worry if your event is a bit smaller.

WHERE SHOULD WE HOST IT?

The best facility for a DVD Conference is your own local church, but you could also make use of a school auditorium, community hall, old theater, etc... Just make sure it has a good sound system, video projector, and large screen to project the DVD sessions. Having an area where you have plenty of room to set up registration tables and/or a refreshments table is recommended.

Normally you will be able to secure the use of your church building or school auditorium at little or no charge. Explain to the pastor, principal, or owner what you are doing and you'll be surprised how supportive they'll be! In the event that there is a fee, you can hold a simple fund-raiser or ask your parents if they'd be willing to invest in the project you're working on. Remember, if you fill your facility, the registration and refreshment table proceeds will cover start-up costs and more -- leaving you with seed money for your next big project!

A NOTE TO PARENTS AND YOUTH PASTORS

Here at Rebelution Headquarters we will do everything we can to make sure that your teens have a great experience -- growing in both character and competence as they collaborate together with one another and with you in hosting this event. It is a safe event to learn on. We ask that you would not make it "easy" but rather that you would only do what you can do to make it "possible" for them to succeed. Lend your wisdom without taking over. Help them learn to take advice, not just orders. Back them up as they solve any problems. Provide transportation and financial assistance as needed. But in the end, let this be their adventure. You will be glad you did.
