|Welcome to the Rebelution Forum. If you are a rebelutionary who would like to join our community you must first read and agree to abide by the following Forum Purpose and Guidelines before continuing the membership application process below.
1.) Forum Purpose
The purpose of the Rebelution Forum is to provide: 1) a strong online community in which rebelutionaries around the world can network and interact, 2) a training ground for future leaders, communicators and cultural influencers, 3) a place for Christian young people to be encouraged and equipped to do hard things for the glory of God.
2.) Guidelines & Distinctives
Foundation: The Forum is founded on a biblical, Christ-centered worldview: to glorify God in all we do, with the Bible alone as our final authority and guide. If you are not a Christian or do not share this worldview, please do not apply.
Membership: Because the Forum is intended to be a vibrant community of young people united in faith and purpose, we require prospective members to go through a membership application process, including two short essays. Applications will be reviewed by members of the Forum Team, which includes administrators and moderators. Qualities they will look for include:
+ Christ-like character
Age Range: The Rebelution is defined as a teenage rebellion against low expectations. Though we allow users of all ages to join our community, the focus remains on members of that target audience:
+ Shared vision
+ Quality of content
+ Quality of presentation
+ Young people age 12 and younger must have parental permission before applying for membership.
Usernames: Members are required to use real names (actual or realistic pseudonym), including proper capitalization and spacing (e.g. Fred, Fred S., Fred Smith). No numbers or unnecessary symbols allowed. Accounts of applicants who do not observe this rule will not be activated.
+ Parents may apply, with the understanding that their presence on the board will be to oversee their child, not participate as a regular user.
+ College age students, married and unmarried adults may apply, with the understanding that the Forum is primarily intended to further a Christ-exalting vision for the teen years and that older users will be held to an even higher standard in admission and participation.
New Threads: To ensure that threads are productive, edifying, and manageable, all new thread ideas (except prayer requests) must receive moderator review and approval prior to posting. Users who start a new thread are also expected to “moderate” their thread, keeping it edifying and on topic, as well as guiding it to a conclusion.
Discussion: You won’t find meaningless forums or threads dedicated to games, jokes, spam, relationships, movies, music, television or video games like you will on most online message boards. We even limit some kinds of “good discussions” if we believe they could become a distraction or we feel that they may not be productive or edifying. Our goal is for every post to bless, encourage or equip our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Debate: Discussions often become unproductive as soon as a debate breaks out. Disagreement is fine and can be healthy, but our goal should always be to build up, not tear down. Therefore, we ask our users to approach all differences of opinion with the wisdom spoken of in James 3:
|"[T]he wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere." |
And of course, the opposite of those qualities are what we want to avoid: being crude (or worldly), argumentative, harsh, stubborn, unloving, biased, or flippant. Debate is not a sport here.
Writing: All of our members must commit to pursue excellence in their writing, from the content and tone of their posts down to the spelling and punctuation. We certainly do not require perfection, but we do expect a noticeable effort to improve. On the Forum we value quality, not quantity, both in members and their posts.
Forum Features: We have chosen to not allow avatars, polls or images (in posts or signatures) and to discourage the overuse of smileys. This is done for the joint purpose of keeping users’ focus on effective communication through writing and to help create an atmosphere of greater maturity and purpose.
Questions & Feedback: The procedure for submitting questions, suggestions or concerns is to send them directly to the appropriate administrators or moderators by private message or email. We need and appreciate your input. We only ask that it be communicated privately, not publicly, and that all final decisions reached by the Forum Team be accepted without further complaint. We believe this is both wise and biblical. If you're not sure who to send your question to or need a quick response, please post it in the Questions and Feedback forum.
Discipline: Our desire is to create a culture of excellence, purpose, humility, and unity among all of our users. We reserve the right to remove any user upon unanimous agreement by the administrator team. Any user who repeatedly (or unapologetically) violates these guidelines or Forum Team instructions is liable to be banned.
3.) Theme Verses
1 Timothy 4:12 ”Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”
2 Timothy 2:22 ”So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.”
James 3:13-18 ”Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom… [T]he wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
Titus 3:1-11 ”Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people… I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people. But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him.”
Ephesians 4:29 "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
By continuing you signify that you share the vision of the Rebelution, that you support the purposes of the Forum, and that you have read and agree to abide by the Forum guidelines.
