3 Ways You Can Become Active in the Pro-Life Movement

3

How many of us out there are passionate about saving babies from abortion?

Hopefully a lot of us. I’ve seen several pro-life articles here on TheReb, and I’ve written one myself.

Yet, while I’m so passionate about standing for life, I often feel at a loss about how to put my convictions into action.

What are some practical ways we can stand up for the millions of babies being aborted worldwide every year? How can we, as teenagers, become active in the pro-life movement?

I’ve discovered three ways we can all become more active in this movement—no matter our age.

1. Know How To Defend The Unborn

At some point in our lives, we will all interact with someone who thinks abortion is a woman’s right to choose whether or not she wants to have a baby. We will get into conversations with people who insist that abortion isn’t murder.

We need to know how to defend the unborn. We need to know how to show the truth of what is going on. We need to anticipate pro-choice arguments and know how to respond to them.

One of the best and most effective ways to educate yourself and know how to defend the unborn is to watch videos and read books. There is abundant information out there.

Find videos on YouTube that show either strategies to counter pro-choice arguments or actual debates or discussions. For one example, Living Waters has great videos on abortion. Ray Comfort is very kind when he speaks with people, even if he doesn’t agree with their views.

You can also find books at your local library that share stories about abortion, such as from post-abortive men and women and former abortion clinic workers.

Please note that while there is a lot of good information out there, there are also many videos of pro-life people being unkind to pro-choice people, or misunderstanding them, or making poor arguments in response. Please be discerning in your research! Wrong information or intentions will do little to help the unborn.

After starting to educate yourself, tell others about it! Tell people the truth about what is going on in abortion clinics. (Be sure you know the accurate information.) Tell the truth, in whatever way you do best.

You can tell your friends. You can submit to TheReb and get your article published for many to read. You can write articles for your blog. If you aren’t a writer, you can share videos and articles on social media, or text or email them to your family and friends.

The Internet has provided a huge platform for the truth about abortion. As young people growing up in the Internet world, we need to take advantage of it!

2. Participate In Pro-Life Events, Activities, And Organizations

Many pro-life organizations have events and activities you can attend and participate in. Types of events and activities might include dinners, runs, and fundraisers, which help to raise money for the organizations so they can continue to help those who have chosen to keep their babies, and raise awareness of what happens during an abortion.

A couple of years ago, my dad and sisters participated in a pro-life run that was held by a local Christian, pro-life organization. I really wanted to go, but I hadn’t trained, and I often have difficulties running in the heat.

But big events aren’t the only activities available out there.

Another option could be to donate items that the organization needs. Many organizations support families by helping provide for them in practical ways, such as providing diapers, classes, and clothes. Maybe you could even knit or crochet baby hats, socks, and blankets for them.

Find a local pro-life organization and research ways to get involved, even if you just participate in a dinner and learn more about life and abortion. If you don’t have a pro-life organization near you, look for some online. There are often links to where you can donate if you’re interested.

Friends, we are the next generation. Do you realize that? We’ll reach our adulthood in merely a few years. But we don’t have to wait until then. There are opportunities for us to make an impact in someone’s life, right now.

3. Pray, Pray, Pray!

I don’t think many of us realize how powerful prayer really is. I know it’s easy for me to lose sight of how privileged I am to pray to the Creator of the universe.

But how can we pray specifically for these men and women? Here are three ways.

First, pray that their eyes will be opened to the truth. These dear people don’t realize that what is inside the woman’s body is a living person, just as precious as any other human being. Pray that they will see the truth and refuse to get an abortion.

Second, pray that they will have the strength to keep their babies. Some women are in situations where they feel trapped. Unless they have this abortion, their boyfriends will leave them, or their family and friends are pressuring them into having an abortion. Please pray that God would give these women the help and support they need so they can have their baby. Even if they have to give their child up for adoption, pray that they won’t kill them.

Third, pray that these men and women will find hope and healing in Jesus Christ. There are many men and women who have had an abortion and have deeply regretted their decision. They live with tremendous guilt, and perhaps they don’t know where to turn next or whether they can ever be forgiven. We need to pray that these people will find the wonderful hope and healing in Jesus Christ.

(Read a prayer I wrote here.)

Remember, God cares for these little children too. He created them, after all. It breaks his heart to see them murdered, sucked out of a woman’s body, and treated like a parasite. Please be in prayer for those who are pro-choice.

Are You Willing To Sacrifice Your Time?

A lot of us are so busy with school, work, and extracurricular activities that we might think we have no time to be active in the pro-life movement, even if we wanted to.

While that might be true for a few of us, the majority of us just need to rethink our schedule. If we feel God calling us to become more active in the pro-life movement, then we need to make fighting for the unborn a priority, just like we make school and work priorities.

But the question is this: Are you willing to sacrifice your time, energy, and resources? Are you willing to give up some of your time so you can make a difference in someone’s life?

Are you willing to give up some of your life, to fight to save countless others?
