Update On Our Blog Renovations

U

TRANSCRIPT: Happy Friday! I just wanted to give you an update on the discussion we’ve been having in the comment section of my last video blog. We’ve been talking about bringing in some new people to contribute stories and insights on the blog — and one of the things that has come up from a few people, as well as in a conversation I had with Kyle, is that we want to be careful to make it clear what we’re looking for before you all start putting time and energy into writing posts. We don’t want you to put a bunch of emotional energy and time into something and then have it not be what we’re looking for.

We want to make it clear what we’re looking for before you all put time and energy into writing guest posts.

So what we’re thinking of doing these next few weeks is to approach specific people, especially people who have been around for awhile, who are familiar with the core message of The Rebelution, and invite them to contribute to the blog and give some historical grounding to this renewal process. That will allow you guys to see us model what we’re looking for and give you a clearer idea of what to expect.

We’re going to approach specific people we think can model what we’re looking for and share their stuff these next few weeks.

In the meantime, I would love to have you submit your stories. Stories can be submitted at any time. We’d love to hear what it looks like for you to do hard things right where you are in your schoolwork, your work, your family, your church. We’d love to hear about the daily small decisions you’re making to be faithful to obey God and do what He’s called you to do — no matter how hard it is, no matter how young you are. We’d love to hear about how you are rebelling against low expectations for the glory of God. Those are the stories that you are welcome to start submitting to me immediately. Just send them to: brett [at] therebelution [dot] com. You can send those starting today. I would love to hear from you. I would love to start sharing those stories with your fellow rebelutionaries here on the blog.

But your stories can be submitted today! Just email them to me: brett [at] therebelution [dot] com

So that’s the update! That’s what we’re thinking about doing. We’re continuing to pray about the direction for the website, the blog, and the movement. And we really would appreciate you continuing to pray for us as well. We want what God wants for this message and this movement and we want to bring maximum glory to Him. Have a great weekend and we’ll see you back here soon. Thanks so much. Bye!

  • Sounds awesome! I’m excited to see how God’s going to use each one of us to keep the Rebelution rolling!

So just out of curiosity, is the committee idea of Alyssa’s still a possibility for the future? It wasn’t mentioned at all in the video, so I was wondering if it was changed, rethought, still in mind, etc. I don’t want to seem like I’m pushing the idea, I’m just curious. Either way, I’d still love to help the Rebelution in any way that I can!

  • I am so glad ya’ll are getting things moving again! I read the book two years ago and it has been a tremendous impact on my life. I can’t wait to read the new posts. God bless you!

  • I’m so excited to see the ball rolling!

I know Kyle just started at PHC (and that will take a lot of his time) but because his essay was so active in “reviving” the blog, has he expressed any interest in heading part(s) of the committees? Just curious!

  • Is the Rebelution forum still being used? I want to join. It’s been several months since I submitted my request and I still haven’t received any information.

  • Thanks for putting a transcript in here! So nice when your Internet moves at a snail’s pace when loading videos. 🙂

  • i think that you guys should definitely somehow allow people to submit videos that could be posted from you guys on the blog. that way people will have more of a say(not that they already do)

  • Genesis, yes the forum is still being active. Unfortunately (something else on the site that needs fixing), is that it takes forever for a wana-be member to get accepted. It took me almost 6-9 months before I was accepted. Maybe we could create a committee to browse people’s entries to hurry up the process?

  • This sounds really good! I would love to hear from other people about what they’re going through in their own lives. Great idea!

  • I absolutely love the idea of letting other teens sending in stuff. 🙂 I only wish I had something reeeaaallly worth submitting.

  • Brandon Buchanan: That sounds like a wonderful idea, I just wouldn’t know how to go about the process. Any ideas, I’ve already emailed Alex and Brett, but I have not gotten a response back.

  • I think the whole thing is a brilliant idea! I actually laughed a little when I watched your video because just a few weeks ago I was saying to myself, “Wouldn’t it be cool if people could send stories and posts to The Rebelution?” And “I wonder if they will get some teenage writers to help with the blog?” So you can imagine my face when I saw what the post was about! I would love to send a story if I can think of anything worth sharing. Thanks so much for asking! God bless you!
